At the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences in Las Vegas tonight Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 took home an impressive five of the awards across 23 categories, including Game of the Year. The Sandfall Interactive game has been a critical hit and a stand out at award shows since it was released in April 2025, and the development team was even given the status of Knight under the French Order of Arts and Letters in recognition of its work. Ghost of Yotei took home three awards, including Outstanding Achievement in Character, while Arc Raiders won Online Game of the Year. Naughty Dog's Evan Wells, former president and co-founder at the studio, was inducted into the AIAS Hall of Fame. "The games recognized at this year’s D.I.C.E...
Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake doesn't open with a jump scare; it opens in a trance. As Mio, you watch helplessly as a crimson butterfly lures your twin sister, Mayu, into a fog-covered forest. There, the Lost Village swallows her whole. For over twenty-two years, this scene has haunted fans, myself included. Seeing the village emerge from the mist, modern lighting draping every rooftop and tree branch in dense volumetric fog, I knew immediately: this isn't a low-budget remaster. The dread in Fatal Frame 2 stems not only from the individually named wraiths stalking you through its haunted Japanese village – a place trapped in a festival of death – but also from the way Mayu grips your hand, dragging you toward dangers you're...
Tonight has brought our best look yet at Silent Hill: Townfall, the next installment in Konami's classic survival horror series that's set and developed in Scotland. In an initial trailer shown during Sony's State of Play broadcast, and then Konami's own dedicated Silent Hill Transmission show, fans got to see the suitably foggy setting of St. Amelia and the game's protagonist Simon Ordell, all in Townfall's first-person perspective. Made by Scottish development team Screen Burn (of Stories Untold and Observation fame) and published by Annapurna Interactive, the game looks set to offer a unique take on the Silent Hill formula, while still retaining some core elements. So, yes, you can defend yourself from horrible-headed enemies...
Good deals are like rare loot drops. You do not force them. You wait for them. You don't panic buy at full price like an NPC with no self control. You stay patient. You watch the market like it is an unfolding boss fight moveset. Because when the right deal finally hits, there's extra satisfaction to be had with that discount. Contents Retro Nintendo Xbox PlayStation PC LEGO This Day in Gaming 🎂 In Underrated Series That Shouldn’t Have Gone the Way of Dubstep news, I’m using a Fire Doomstrike to light 22-candle cake baked for Maximo vs. Army of Zin. Technically a sequel that lacks a ‘2’ in its title, this hack ‘n’ slash 3D platformer was just good old-fashioned Ghosts ‘n Goblinsesque fun. What didn’t change but I adored: taking...
After a significant delay and a rocky 2025, Bungie shared another look at Marathon at the February 2026 State of Play, reaffirming its March 5 release date with a weeklong server slam. The former Halo developer took to today's presentation to show off more of its sci-fi extraction shooter. Those excited to see how it lives up to the studio's legacy can hop in early as part of an upcoming server slam, which is scheduled to take place from February 26 through March 2. In a separate video, Bungie outlined exactly what the Marathon server slam grants access to and how participants will be rewarded. In addition to pre-launch access to two playable zones and six runner shells, players will be able to take on opening contracts for five...
Sony finished tonight's State of Play broadcast with confirmation of a God of War Trilogy Remake project, and the surprise shadow drop of a side-scrolling spinoff — God of War Sons of Sparta — that launches today. TC Carson, the original voice of Kratos, popped up to confirm the projects — and presumably his involvement in them. The original God of War launched back in 2005 for PS2, with its sequel arriving two years later. God of War 3, for PS3, then debuted in 2010. No release date for the God of War Trilogy Remake was announced, and apparently work is still in its "early stages." Indeed, today's look at the game amounted to little more than a few logos — but for fans of Kratos' beloved Greek shenanigans, they are thrilling logos to...
Arc System Works announced new characters and a release date for their upcoming fighting game, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. The Unbreakable X-Men join the character roster, and the final game will be released for PS5 and PC on August 6. Wolverine, Storm, Magik, and Danger join the roster as the Unbreakable X-Men, including Wolverine's tank-like moves in which his claws can have armor on them. The fighter will also include an Episode Mode that, according to producer Takeshi Yamanaka, "blends American comics and Japanese manga into a new form of storytelling adapted for a modern video game format" in a story presented via motion comics. Additional characters on the roster leaked earlier this week. Check out our first impressions from...
Legacy of Kain: Defiance is finally getting the remaster it's long deserved, and in addition to a much nicer looking and playing game, those who purchase the Deluxe Edition will get to play a never-before-seen demo of the canceled sixth Legacy of Kain game, The Dark Prophecy. Announced today, Legacy of Kain: Defiance Remastered will release on March 3, 2026 for PS5 and PS4, Switch and Switch 2, Xbox, and PC via Steam, GOG, and Epic Games Store. It's developed by Crystal Dynamics and PlayEveryWare, and per franchise general manager Matt McCloskey, is based heavily on "a digitization of this massive archive that we actually found in a closet at Crystal Dynamics San Mateo office." This is a remaster, not a remake, but there's a lot to...
Dead or Alive 7 is in development, and Dead or Alive 6 Last Round is on the way, too. Koei Tecmo Games series producer Yosuka Hayashi appeared during the February 2026 State of Play presentation to give fans two major updates on the classic fighting game franchise. First up was the reveal that Dead or Alive 6 is being re-released for PS5 with new features, new characters, and more content in development, too. The big surprise, though, was a first look at the studio’s plans to celebrate the series’ 30th anniversary: Dead or Alive 7. First footage of the currently untitled PS5 game was shown during the presentation and includes a look at Ninja Gaiden's Ryu Hayabusa. It’s unclear when it will launch. While we wait for updates, you can...
Tonight's PlayStation State of Play broadcast provided our best look yet at the upcoming Star Wars: Galactic Racer — including the confirmation of another character first seen in Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. Yes, Galactic Racer will feature the triumphant return of Ben Quadinaros, the Boonta Eve Podrace participant who exploded on its starting line. Somehow he has survived (and is still racing) all the way through to Galactic Racer's setting post-Return of Jedi. Since his appearance in The Phantom Menace, Quadinaros has only been glimpsed occaisonally throughout Star Wars canon, though later years apparently saw him become a rival to fellow podrace pilot Sebulba — who also appears in Galactic Racer, now with a beard. Today's...
At today's Sony State of Play broadcast, Rayman finally emerged from his long, long slumber with the announcement of the Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition, a fresh celebration of Ubisoft's classic platformer that you'll be able to play this week. Ubisoft has dubbed this new release of the game as its "definitive edition," as it contains no less than five versions of the original Rayman as released across various classic consoles. You'll be able to leap through 120 additional levels, too! For those who want to fully immerse themselves in nostalgia, the package contains an exclusive documentary detailing Rayman's original creation. And here's the best news yet: it's all available tomorrow, February 13. We haven't seen Ubisoft's bouncy...
Tonight's State of Play broadcast has given us one last look at Capcom's tantalizing Resident Evil Requiem — and confirmed what many fans had previously deduced: Leon S. Kennedy is once again infected. The trailer depicted Leon with a grey and yucky looking hand, and suggested he was running out of time to cure himself. Fans have been concerned for Leon's welfare ever since they began enhancing and analyzing images of his neck from a previous trailer — a similar dark grey mark was seen there, too. And that's not all today's trailer revealed — a very quick look at a familiar blond-haired character appeared to confirm the return of Sherry. At least, that's what fans watching the trailer believe. For long-term fans of the series, this...
Developer Game Freak showed off a new trailer for Beast of Reincarnation, their upcoming sci-fi fantasy action-adventure, that included a release date: August 4. Beast of Reincarnation was first announced at last year's Xbox Showcase before we got a more in-depth look at it in January's Xbox Developer Direct. We got a lot of new information from Beast's director in a recent interview. It'll be released for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S – including day-one on Xbox Game Pass. For much more, catch up with everything announced during Sony's State of Play broadcast right here. Ember Lab kicked off the February 2026 State of Play with a reveal trailer for its surprise sequel, Kena: Scars of Kosmora. The gameplay offers a good mix of cinematic story moments and tense gameplay in a new world for players to explore. It’s a sequel to Kena: Bridge of Spirits that’s coming to PlayStation 5 and PC at an unspecified point in the future. It’s unclear if the project is coming to more platforms. On his RTGame channel in 2021, YouTuber and streamer Daniel Condren made headlines by dragging countless NPCs from a Hitman level into a walk-in freezer, in an attempt to simultaneously kill every single NPC in one map. He didn't quite succeed. Now, he's made another go at it, using the gigantic grape press in the winery that is Hitman 3's final map. And this time, it went better. You can watch it take place in a 40-minute edit of the stream. Well, actually the edit seems to be of two streams – in the first, he drags the NPCs one-by-one to smash them after knocking each one out with a baseball bat. That takes over 15 hours, according to the timer at the top of the stream. Then, the video cuts to what looks to be another stream, started...
There’s an old refrain among comedians that no joke survives its retelling, and you don’t need to look any further than the shoddy track record of comedy movie sequels to see the truth in that. Fortunately, funny video games tend to fare much better, from Borderlands 2 to Portal 2, and so you would hope that a weird, deeply inappropriate game about drugs and talking guns like High On Life 2 might enjoy the same kind of evolution. In some ways it does just that, with many of its existing bright spots shining even more brightly – the lovable weapons that serve as your companions are more amusing than ever, and movement outside of combat is greatly improved by radical new skateboarding mechanics. But other areas don’t hold up as well, like...
All three models of the Steam Deck are out of stock and have been out of stock for at least 24 hours, according to a post from Wario64. With prices for gaming PCs and components skyrocketing, it's possible that this could mean a longer-term shortage. It's no secret that PC hardware is in a weird place right now. With memory prices going through the roof, it was only a matter of time before handheld gaming PCs started getting hit by shortages and increased prices. And that makes it odd timing for all three models of the Steam Deck to go out of stock in the US. Because the Steam Deck has been around for nearly five years, it's possible that this is a sign that Valve is getting ready to wind down production on the most affordable...
There are quite a few modern first-person shooters taking notes from the bullet hell arcade games from yesteryear. Games like BPM or Deadzone Rogue throw walls of projectiles and fodder enemies at you, and demand you thread yourself through them like a gun-toting needle to return fire without getting obliterated. Luna Abyss joins these ranks but certainly stirs the formula up a bit. When we took a look at the first level of gloomy sci-fi shooter a couple of years ago, we saw just enough to get intrigued by the potential quivering in the crimson glow between all of its shadows. Now that we’ve gotten our hands on a bit more, being introduced to a new weapon, movement mechanics, and a killer boss fight, I can safely say that the optimism...
Following an unexpected delay in January, the first trailer for Battlefield 6 Season 2 is here, revealing a first look at its three-month roadmap, a limited-time nightfall event, and gameplay for two new maps. EA and Battlefield Studios today offered a detailed breakdown and trailer for the second seasonal content update, along with a gameplay trailer for its troubled multiplayer FPS. Season 2 spans across three phases – Extreme Measures (phase one), Nightfall (phase two), and Hunter/Prey (phase three) – with the first set to launch next week on its previously announced release date of February 17, 2026. The forest-covered mountains of the first new map, Contaminated, are the backdrop for most of the Battlefield 6 Season 2 trailer...
"What struck me most was his restlessness," said Geoff Keighley yesterday in front of an audience on the DICE Summit 2026 keynote stage. "Nothing was ever quite good enough. That relentless hunger for excellence drove him to believe he could always make a better game, a better company, be a better man. Since his passing, I've thought a lot about what made Vince unique, what's his superpower. Of course he knew how to build great teams, make great games, but inside massive companies built on process and politics, Vince was able to stay stubbornly human. He was direct, impatient with nonsense, and fiercely loyal to the people doing the work." Keighley was speaking of Vince Zampella, the co-creator of the Call of Duty franchise, co-founder...
At some point, somebody at Capcom must have looked at Monster Hunter and said, out loud, “You know, the monsters in this bad boy are actually pretty cute. And there’s these talking cats, and they’re pretty cute, too. We’re kinda leaving money on the table by not making this a turn-based monster-capturing RPG.” And the executives did grin, and the sky opened, and the money rained down. And they saw that that somebody was right, and they said, “We gotta make more of these.” Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is the third one of these, in fact, if the number didn’t give it away, so that somebody’s idea had some staying power, but it’s this writer’s first. Not my first Monster Hunter; like most folks in the West, mine was Monster...
Development studio ZA/UM has announced that a free demo for its upcoming espionage-flavoured RPG, Zero Parades: For Dead Spies, will be available to play on PC as part of Steam Next Fest. Launching on February 23 and available until March 16, the demo features a “tailored” version of Zero Parade’s opening hours. While not everything from this section of the full game will be available as part of the demo, it does include two full quests, a variety of side activities, and the freedom to explore the city state of Portofiro. You can get a small taste of what awaits in the gameplay video below, which showcases the very first minutes of Zero Parades. The demo also allows you to choose from three different character archetypes, which...

Arc Raiders continues to be an enormous hit for publisher Nexon, with 14 million copies sold and almost a million concurrent players online at one point last month. In Nexon's latest financial results, the Korean publisher boasted that its sticky extraction shooter had "significantly exceeded expectations" and had "approximately six million weekly active users." January's player peak saw roughly 960,000 people online at the same time — an impressive figure indeed, especially three months after its late October 2025 arrival. "Since its October 30 launch, the game sustained top-ranking spots on Steam's Top Sellers list as well as PlayStation and Xbox," Nexon wrote in a presentation shared with investors today. "[It] showed exceptional...
The heavily rumoured, but yet to be confirmed, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Remake/Remaster is getting its very own art book, at least according to this recent Amazon listing in the UK. Preorders are also now available, strangely, before we've got official confirmation of the game actually being real and given its own release window. Its art book is listed at £29.95 right now, a slight reduction from its initial £39.99 RRP, and the Amazon listing also mentions a release date of March 24, 2026. Titan will be publishing the art book, and the publisher already has a history of releasing art books for the gaming franchise since 2012. That includes Assassin's Creed III, Unity, Syndicate, Origins, and more. More recent Assassin's Creed art...
There is a specific sting that comes from paying full price for a game, loving it, and then watching it tumble to pocket change six months later. I know that sting intimately. The upside is I can now tell you, with zero buyer’s remorse left to protect, which of these are actually worth your weekend. Layoffs have hit the development studio Wildlight Entertainment, makers of the recently released multiplayer shooter Highguard. This comes just over two weeks after the free-to-play game's January 26 launch date. Former senior level designer Alex Graner posted on LinkedIn, "Unfortunately, along with most of the team at Wildlight, I was laid off today." While there currently is no confirmed number of people who were laid off, the studio's LinkedIn page states that its size is/was 51-200 employees. Wildlight's official X/Twitter account confirmed the layoffs with a statement reading, "Today we made an incredibly difficult decision to part ways with a number of our team members while keeping a core group of developers to continue...
Blizzard will celebrate the 30th anniversary of Diablo by adding the Warlock class to a swathe of games — including Diablo 2: Resurrected, more than 25 years after the game's original launch. Resurrected, the 2021 remaster of Blizzard's classic sequel, will receive the Reign of the Warlock DLC today, February 11, priced at $24.99 across PC, PlayStation, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch. The paid add-on is available already on Battle.net — and on Steam, where Diablo 2: Resurrected has also launched. The news was announced just moments ago at Blizzard's Diablo Anniversary Spotlight showcase, which featured Warlock-flavored reveals for the franchise's other games, too. A Warlock class will arrive as part of Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred on...
