Crystal Dynamics, the developer behind Marvel's Avengers, has confirmed that the PlayStation-exclusive Spider-Man DLC will have story content and cutscenes when it makes its long-awaited debut.
As spotted by MP1ST, Crystal Dynamics' Senior Producer Dan Matlack responded to a fan's question on the official Marvel's Avengers Discord server that asked whether or not everyone's favourite webhead would come with his own storyline. "Spider-Man is what we call an 'event' so he will have cutscenes and a story for sure," Matlack replied.
Matlack then went on to give fans a further glimpse at details of the game's first ever Raid, in which players will battle with Klaw, the primary villain of the Marvel's Avengers' last expansion, War for...
Bethesda has bought a PlayStation 5 for Deathloop's Jason Kelley after the voice actor told fans he didn't have a copy of the game or a console to experience it on.
Just as Deathloop was about to launch, a short promo clip on the game's official Twitter account featured Jason Kelley, the voice actor for protagonist Colt, saying: "I cannot wait for you guys to get your hands on this video game. If anyone can get me a copy and a PlayStation 5, I would appreciate it." This made it clear that Kelley didn't own a copy of Deathloop or a PlayStation 5 to play it on
While a number of fans congratulated Kelley on his performance in the game, Pete Hines - Senior Vice President of Communications at Deathloop publisher Bethesda - appeared to...
Let's kick these weekly bargains off with a bit of food for thought. It's worth knowing that the chief executive of Australia Post recently flagged a "Christmas supply crunch" on the horizon. Long story short: maybe grab a cheap deal on a gift idea now-now. Squirrel something away. It beats the scenario where you're forced to put on a world-class poker face as you hand someone a really nicely wrapped bus pass.

CyberConnect2 has established itself as one of the best in the business when it comes to anime-to-video-game adaptations, with the Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm series standing tall as some of the most faithful and visually spectacular of that group, along with Dragon Ball Z Kakarot offering up an extremely respectable take on the storied legacy of DBZ.
The team’s next project is the truly excellent anime, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, and based on my early experience with The Hinokami Chronicles, it’s exactly what you’d expect from CyberConnect2: absolutely jaw-dropping recreations of Demon’s Slayer’s most memorable story moments, approachable combat with some of the wildest super moves you’ll ever see, and more than a few rough...
Season 2 of The Witcher kicks off in December, bringing a significant expansion of the show’s cast of characters and notable casting that includes Bridgerton’s Adjoa Andoh as the priestess Nenneke and Game of Thrones’ Kristofer Hivju as the cursed noble Nivellen.
One of the most significant new characters is Vesemir, who will be played by Kim Bodnia of Killing Eve (despite rumors at one point that the role would go to Mark Hamill). During Netflix’s Tudum presentation, the streaming giant released a new Witcher franchise trailer, with never-before-seen footage from Season 2, including our first up-close look at Bodnia’s portrayal of the famous Witcher.
Netflix has built anticipation for his appearance and provided viewers with a way...
The mid to late 2000s featured a particularly prevalent trend of extending a game’s reach by porting it to as many platforms as possible, regardless of whether or not those platforms were a good fit. Games like Need for Speed: Most Wanted, 007: Quantum of Solace, and Cars 2, alongside so many more, saw releases on consoles and PC, as expected, but also saw downgraded or drastically different versions hit handhelds like the PSP, Nintendo DS, and even mobile phones.
The trend hit a number of major console and PC games of the era. Perhaps, most surprisingly, the acclaimed first-person adventure BioShock saw the release of a mobile port known as BioShock 3D. Though there’s a tendency to wave away the handheld or mobile versions of console...
With the Aftermath expansion, World War Z is a much different game than when it debuted in 2019, and overwhelmingly for the better. With more episodes to rampage through, a greater selection of playable classes, and dozens of major quality-of-life improvements (like zombies no longer being able to pull you off ledges and devour you in the most unfair manner imaginable, for example), there’s a lot to love about it these days. Aftermath is the next major step for this sleeper hit and one that mostly succeeds at moving the zombie-filled shooter in the right direction. That said, with ongoing online issues, forgettable stories, and some gameplay growing pains, it still has plenty of room to grow.
One of the more noteworthy things...

We already knew that Life is Strange: Remastered Collection, a compilation of the first two installments with enhanced visuals and animations. And today, Square Enix has announced that the game will be available on all major platforms on February 1, 2022.
The game was supposed to release on September 30 of this year, but in August, it was announced that the game would be delayed into next year, citing ongoing challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic as the main reason for pushing back the game's release date.
Life is Strange: Remastered Collection bundles the first Life is Strange and its prequel Before the Storm. The game was announced in March as part of Square Enix Presents live stream. In addition to enhanced visuals and animations...
In celebration Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Fortnite has added a new Tom Hardy-inspired Eddie Brock Outfit that features a Venom Unleased Emote that will transform him into a Venom that looks just like the one found in the upcoming film.
Revealed by The Fortnite Team, this Outfit joins the Carnage one from Fortnite's Chapter 2 Season 8 Battle Pass and another comic-based Venom Outfit that was added in November 2020.
While this Outfit starts you out as Eddie Brock and won't turn you into Venom until you use the built-in Venom Unleashed Emote, you can choose to start as Venom by selecting that Style in the Locker. Additionally, players can turn back into Eddie by using the same Emote in-game.
The Eddie Brock Outfit also comes with...

Valheim took the gaming world by storm when it hit early access in February this year. A complex survival game crafted by the (then) five-person strong Iron Gate Studio out of Sweden, the launch nabbed a 9/10 review and by March had more than one million players per team member.
Seven months later, and it's streaking back up the player count charts on Steam again thanks to the release of "Hearth and Home", Valheim's first major update. The content drop brings with it an array of changes for all facets of the game — new building possibilities, new items to find (particularly in the Mountains), new food to cook and more.
For some, seven months is a long time to wait between drinks, though veterans of other survival games like...
The Initiative has announced that it will be partnering with Marvel's Avengers and Tomb Raider's Crystal Dynamics to develop the upcoming reboot of Perfect Dark.

We are partnering with Crystal Dynamics, the world class team behind character-driven games such as Tomb Raider, to bring this first-person spy thriller to a new generation," The Initiative wrote. "The teams couldn’t pass up a chance to work together. We’re still early in development, but incredibly excited to use this unique opportunity to deliver on the vision for Perfect Dark!"
Crystal Dynamics Quote Tweeted The Initiative's Tweet...

The Shadowrun Trilogy is coming to Nintendo Switch in 2022.
The collection of cult classic RPGs feature turn based combat, branching narrative paths, and more. They take place in a dystopian future, and are described as, "cyberpunk-meets-fantasy."
Paradox Interactive's trilogy includes Shadowrun Returns, Shadowrun Dragonfall - Director's Cut, and Shadowrun Hong Kong - Extended Edition. The trilogy is already available on PC.
The games take place in locations across the globe, including Seattle, Berlin, and Hong Kong. The trailer showed off combat reminiscent of XCOM. In our original Shadowrun Returns review, we called the game "good," saying, "the light tactical combat has enough depth to make it a worthwhile adventure."

Capcom has announced the first major expansion for Monster Hunter Rise titled Sunbreak. The next expansion is set to release in summer 2022.
The brief trailer showcased a terrifying new monster perched over dilapidated gothic ruins. Capcom is promising a new story, new locales, monsters, and hunting actions, and quest ranks when Sunbreak is released next year.
Capcom highlighted the "eerie new setting" in the trailer but says more details on the upcoming expansion plus new monsters and gameplay will be revealed soon.
Monster Hunter Rise is the most recent, mainline Monster Hunter game and introduced several new gameplay mechanics and monsters. Although it was a more traditional Monster Hunter experience, gameplay advances and...
Disco Elysium: The Final Cut, the lauded story-driven role-playing game about being a total failure of a detective, has finally gotten itself a Switch release date: Oct. 12.
A physical version of the game for the Switch will be available in early 2022. Pre-orders for the digital version begin today.
During today's Nintendo Direct presentation, Disco Elysium: The Final Cut got the release date announcement after months of anticipation, showing some footage of the game's shabby hero of a detective and the mystery he stumbles through in the world of Elysium.
Disco Elysium: The Final Cut has been out for a while on consoles after making the leap away from PC exclusivity, having dropped on PS4, PS5, and Stadia back in March. It's...
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is coming to Nintendo Switch on November 11.
The classic BioWare Star Wars RPG is coming to Nintendo Switch this year, joining several classic Star Wars games already on the system like Star Wars Episode 1: Racer and Star Wars Republic Commando.
Knight of the Old Republic is one of the most beloved western RPGs and a fantastic take on the Star Wars universe. Players can create a character and choose whether to become a Jedi or be tempted by the ways of the dark side.
The version coming to the Switch is a port of the original Knights of the Old Republic and not the recently announced remake coming to PlayStation 5 and PC.
Check out IGN's original Knights of the Old Republic review for our...
Final Fantasy 14 players are asking Square for better cyber safety features to prevent harassment in the game.
A Reddit post on Thursday that has gathered almost 4,000 upvotes at the time of writing outlines several issues Square could take to prevent in-game stalking. Primarily how character names are easy to find on Square's Lodestone database, which can reveal a character's location, server, appearance, and more.
Unfriending a user also only removes them from the person who unfriended them. So, any unfriended user can visit the Lodestone database to find the user who wants to unfriend them. Users can also be matched with players who they have blacklisted.
Final Fantasy players are simply asking for the option to make Lodestone...
Activision Blizzard is currently facing serious ongoing allegations of harassment and mistreatment of marginalized workers. To learn more, please visit our timeline as well as our in-depth report on the subject.
Diablo 2: Resurrected has arrived, and I've had a couple of days’ head start. I've been smashing demons aside for enough hours that I’m now breaking into Act 3 and I am absolutely not bored – I'm honestly delighted. I probably played hundreds (but I'd wager less than a thousand) hours of Diablo 2 between 2000 and 2007, and Resurrected absolutely scratches an itch for a style of game that's not really made anymore – not just aesthetically, but mechanically. It’s all coming back.
I mean, the mood of this game is just superb...

Another launch for an online game, another launch with day one server issues. It's rare today that a game with online connectivity launches without server issues, and unfortunately for Paladins, Necromancers, Barbarians, and other players around the globe, Diablo 2: Resurrected is not without its own problems.
Players are reporting server issues that prevent them from even playing the game, and these same issues are preventing players from seeing existing characters or creating new ones, too. Earlier today, Blizzard...

Call of Duty Vanguard's subreddit has taken to poking fun at the upcoming game's audio design by claiming that it is "historically accurate".
COD Vanguard recently ran an open beta for players to jump into the fray and test out their multiplayer skills. As well as giving fans the chance to get to grips with some of the Vanguard's new features, the beta also allowed developer Sledgehammer Games to receive feedback on a number of the game's elements.
One such feature that players felt didn't live up to expectations was...
343 Industries recently showed off some more multiplayer action for Halo Infinite ahead of the game's back-to-back multiplayer tech previews starting this weekend. PC gameplay of a Big Team Battle CTF match on Fragmentation showed a little more of what fans can expect from Infinite when it launches later this year as well as an introduction to the game's very own loot cave – seemingly a reference to Halo creator Bungie's Destiny.
As broadcast from Halo's official YouTube channel, community director Brian Jarrard was joined by Fernando Reyez Medina to speak about some of the gameplay elements shown off in Big Team Battle. During the match, (starting at around the 9:17 in the video below), the pair come across a large fortified door...
When Konami’s eFootball launches in full later this year, the football sim will feature cross-play between PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and mobile devices – but cross-save and cross-progression between these systems won’t be supported. Hopefully, that won't always be the case.
Following IGN’s two-hour hands-on preview of eFootball, Konami confirmed to IGN that “eFootball does not currently support cross-progression or cross-save between different platforms, however we aspire to include this in future.”
Cross-save and cross-progression would mean that you could carry your eFootball profile, saves and associated purchases across various platforms. So before heading out, you could upload your Creative League progress from your...
Football gaming is perhaps the most stagnant of all sports genres. FIFA’s pay-to-win, arcade hegemony lords it over PES’ clunky menus, but realistic gameplay. Rinse, reskin, and repeat.
But this year that’s all changing. And when I went to Konami’s Windsor HQ for a hands-on event for eFootball - yes, the PES, aka Pro Evolution Soccer moniker is dead - I was intrigued as much by the gameplay as by their vision to make this bold experiment the future of sports games.
Happily, the pre-release build I got my mitts on was excellent fun. That build was a hybrid of pre- and post-release. So some advanced gameplay mechanics that won’t be coming to the game until later this autumn (essentially, variations of shots and passes) were included...
Death Stranding Director’s Cut comes with a slew of updates and new content, including but not limited to new weapons, a new vehicle, new ways to deliver cargo, and even a brand new story mission. Unlike the recently released Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut, which came with one big piece of new content and several quality of life updates, Death Stranding is instead opting for a ton of smaller tweaks and additions, which can make it a bit more confusing when trying to identify exactly what it is you’re getting with this upgrade. But don’t worry, we have you covered. We’ve combed through as much as we could, and picked out what we think are the 13 biggest additions and changes to the Death Stranding Director’s Cut.
1. New Graphics...
It’s been two years since Death Stranding’s release; in that time, the PS4 and PC versions of Kojima’s backbreaking delivery man simulator have gone on to sell more than five million copies combined, making it a success by any measure. However, anecdotally I’ve come across just as many people who have played Death Stranding and completely loved it as I have people who’ve bounced off it within its intentionally grueling opening hours. It’s the latter group of people who perhaps wanted to like it but couldn’t, along with any other fence-sitters, that this PlayStation 5 Director’s Cut seems to have in mind; its raft of quality-of-life improvements and player-friendly features added specifically to make more manageable molehills out of its...
