As Overwatch 2 approaches (PvP at least) there are some lingering questions over how the transfer from the first Overwatch to the sequel will occur, including how loot boxes will transfer over. Rest assured, for anyone still hoarding their loot boxes, those contents will transfer over to Overwatch 2. In a RedditAMA, someone asked whether loot boxes will carry over to Overwatch 2. However, it should be noted that Blizzard is doing away with loot boxes completely for the sequel. However, for anyone still keeping their loot boxes, those will be opened automatically and their contents will be transferred to your account in the sequel. "We'll share a more detailed explanation on all of these topics before Overwatch 2 goes live in...
After a series of community protests about the bot-ridden state of Team Fortress 2, Valve has released a new update for the game that has some tentatively hopeful change is coming, even if the patch itself is not a magical fix-all solution. The update, which was pushed yesterday, includes a number of bugs and exploit fixes, most of which actually have nothing to do with botting. For instance, there's a fix to issues with animations on enemies that only appear during Halloween events and a fix for a years-old bug that occasionally showed placeholder names for players on kill cams and stat screens. Many of these issues have been around for years and were mostly annoying, but not game-breaking. So their fixes, while welcome, are not...
Magic Design Studios and Gearbox Publishing have announced Fast Food, the new content update for their stylish roguelike action sidescroller. Have a Nice Death is available now on Steam, and Fast Food will be released on July 7. As the name implies (and you can see in the trailer above as well as screenshots in the gallery below), Fast Food will add a culinary theme to HAND. It also adds a new world: the Toxic Food-Processing Department, which includes a new boss fight, two new mini-bosses, new side worlds and difficulty modes, new spells and weapons, new enemies (described by Magic Design as "hamburger monsters, take-out containers and deadly sweets"), and more. Naturally, the update also rolls in fixes and upgrades based on player...
Editor's Note: The war in Ukraine is an ongoing, painful and emotive topic. IGN urges community members to be respectful when engaging in conversation around this subject and does not endorse harassment of any kind. Kojima Productions is now selling anti-war merchandise to support Ukrainian refugees. After the invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the games industry has been quick to offer its support, with numerous game developers responding to Russia’s military action. Ukrainian deputy prime minister Mykhailo Fedorov even called upon Xbox, PlayStation, and all game developers to temporarily stop support for Russia and Belarus. Now, Kojima - who has often featured anti-war messages in his games - is putting his money where his...
Throughout the month of June we’ve revealed new Sonic Frontiers gameplay, we’ve interviewed the developers to get to the bottom of Sonic Frontiers’ design goals and processes, but there’s one aspect of Sonic’s latest that we haven’t touched upon: The story. For that, we turn to Ian Flynn, the writer of Sonic Frontiers and a man who is certainly no stranger to Sonic. Flynn has been writing for Sonic in some capacity ever since 2006, touching everything from the classic Sonic the Hedgehog Archie Comics, the rebooted IDW comics, the Sonic Encylcospeedia, episodes of Sonic Boom, and various comics and scripts meant to help promote Sonic Forces, Sonic Origins, and more. He’s even the host of the Bumblekast, a podcast focused around Sonic...
Itchy trigger finger? You might want to conserve that ammo in The Callisto Protocol. During an in-depth look at the game’s combat over at Game Informer, design director Ben Walker revealed that almost half of The Callisto Protocol’s combat will be melee. “We're definitely leaning into the survival side of things,” he revealed. “Our overall tone of our combat is kind of a struggle, right? You're doing whatever you can do to kind of get by and get through.” Essentially, it looks as though ammo will be scarce. But don’t worry – there are plenty of other attacks at your disposal. “Almost half of our combat is melee,” he added. “[That] means you have to be smart about how you use your bullets. So, to that end, we've added our melee...
Battlefield 2042 developer EA DICE has no plans to make non-Battlefield games any time soon. The developer is known for its first-person shooters, with Battlefield 2042 being its current flagship game. But DICE's vice president, Rebecka Coutaz, tells GameIndustry.biz that any projects not related to Battlefield are “totally” on the backburner. “We are only focusing on Battlefield 2042,” said said. “There is no time for anything else and this is what we want to do. In three years, we want to be the first-person shooter powerhouse that DICE deserves to be, and that is what we're going for.” Although DICE is best known for its Battlefield games, that does mean we won’t see another Mirror’s Edge or the like – at least anytime soon. “I...

Let's kick off into a whopping 81% off FIFA 22, the best deal of the day (if you're a goal-oriented shopper). It's followed by the impressive (but also quite frequently seen) 80% off The Witcher 3 GOTY and Need For Speed Hot Pursuit. If none of those float your boat, maybe just slap together your own bargain bonanza with the below Fanatical deal. Try to ignore that it's stocked with portable-friendly titles, aimed squarely at gamers who own a Steam Deck. That's salt in the wound that I could do without, personally. Sonic Origins is meant to be an authentic celebration of the classic 2D Sonic the Hedgehog games, but not quite all of the content is making it into the compilation that launches later this week. The game, which includes remastered versions of Sonic 1, 2, 3 & Knuckles, and CD, also features new animated cutscenes, bonus objectives, and more. However, fans aren't happy that the game doesn't contain the original, authentic soundtrack for Sonic the Hedgehog 3. The Sonic the Hedgehog 3 soundtrack has a complicated history. It's a well-known piece of video game trivia that Michael Jackson apparently worked on the Sonic 3 soundtrack, which has led to years of speculation over what legal rights Sega may or may not have to rerelease the...
Andrew Bowen, the voice actor for Johnny Cage in the Mortal Kombat series, is back on the lot at Warner Bros. for... something. In a now-deleted tweet, Bowen shared a video of the voice actor standing in the Warner Bros. studio lot before staring at the camera with a mischievious grin. It's the latest in a series of Tweets Bowen has been sharing online of him working on something in the Warner Bros. lot. Fans have been quick to point out that this is yet another tease for the next Mortal Kombat game, which has been not-so-subtly hinted at over the past year. NetherRealm Studios' Jonathan Andersen previously shared a photo that included a desktop file reference to Mortal Kombat 12. While NetherRealm still isn't revealing what it has...
Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is coming to Steam on June 23, three months after its PC release on the Epic Games Store. On the same day, the Molten Mirrors DLC will also launch for all platforms, including Steam. Those who purchase the game between June 23 and July 7 at 10 AM PT will be able to do so at a special launch price and also claim the Golden Hero Armor Pack. The pack contains two golden armor themes that can be applied to any armor set. Players who've already started Tiny Tina's Wonderlands on PC through the Epic Games Store can transfer their save files to the Steam version. However, Gearbox recommends making a backup of your save before manually doing so. Achievements already earned through the Epic Games Store version will...
Editor's Note: The war in Ukraine is an ongoing, painful and emotive topic. IGN urges community members to be respectful when engaging in conversation around this subject and does not endorse harassment of any kind. DICE has no plans to remove Russia as a playable faction for Battlefield 2042, despite the current real-life Russian invasion of Ukraine. Talking to Eurogamer, EA DICE’s general manager, Rebecka Coutaz, discussed the possibility of Russia being removed from the game and replaced with a different faction. “That is very difficult to change in this entertainment game," she said. Coutaz did say that DICE has audited Battlefield 2042 to ensure that it is “as sensitive” as possible, and that Eastern European development team...
It’s hard to find a publisher more synonymous with fighting games than Capcom. From dominating arcades to taking over our home consoles with Street Fighter II, Capcom has been a mainstay of the genre from the beginning. Enter the Capcom Fighting Collection: a polished package of 10 games that range from the familiar Hyper Street Fighter II: The Anniversary Edition and Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo, all the way to obscurities like the alternate roster versions of Darkstalkers 3, the confusingly titled Vampire Hunter 2, and Vampire Savior 2. With its bevy of modern features including rollback netcode for online play, training modes, and a museum with tons of art and music, the Capcom Fighting Collection does great justice to this...
Developer Mediatonic has confirmed that the Steam version of Fall Guys will still continue to receive full support, despite being delisted from the platform today. In a post on Fall Guys’ Steam community page, Mediatonic said “For everyone that already owns the game, rest assured that you will continue to receive full support and all the tasty updates that land on other platforms, including crossplay and cross-progression support.” “However, please note that after 1:00am EST on June 21, new players will be unable to purchase and download Fall Guys on Steam, and the product page will no longer show on the storefront.” Fall Guys players who didn’t previously buy the game on Steam will now have to head to the Epic Games Store, which...
WB Montreal’s upcoming DC superheroes game, Gotham Knights, will feature the largest version of the iconic Gotham city that’s ever been seen in a video game. In an interview with Game Informer, game director Geoff Ellenor was asked how Gotham Knights’ version of DC’s flagship city compared to the open-world Gotham seen in Batman: Arkham Knight. “It’s pretty big,” said Ellenor. “I haven’t put one map over the other, but our Gotham is a big place.” Executive producer Fleur Marty added, “For sure it’s the biggest version of Gotham that has been represented in video games. The most important thing for us is its density and verticality. It has a lot of layers. The Batcycle is the long-range mode of transportation.” Arkham Knight’s map...
Rudeism on Twitter has modded Sifu to work with a motion controller, and it looks like a kung fu dream come true. Rudesim, who also modded a Fisher-Price game controller to work on PC and played Elden Ring with it, made Sifu work with a controller that can detect his punches and parries in-game. You can see Rudeism testing out his new mod in the video below, and you can see the joy in his face as he realizes how well it translates to the game. The mod also looks to be a great alternative for those who have gotten all they can out of games like Ring Fit Adventure, as he gets a great workout while playing Sifu in a new way. Sifu has been a great source for the modding community, as others have done such impressive things as...
Tony Hawk has confirmed that Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 was planned to follow in the slipstream of the successful 2020 remake of the original two games, but the project died following Activision’s decision to officially merge developer Vicarious Visions into Blizzard. The skateboarding legend discussed the decision to abandon plans for more remakes during a Twitch livestream with Andy Gentile, a former Neversoft designer who also served as senior designer on THPS1+2. “That was the plan; even up until the release day of [Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2], we were going 3 + 4,” said Hawk. “And then Vicarious [Visions] got kind of absorbed, and then they were looking for other developers, and then it was over.” According to Hawk...
PC gamers are in for a frankly ridiculous amount of savings today. I'm tracking multiple sales from Steam, Fanatical and the always reliable Humble. Oh, and Amazon Prime members are on the cusp of 30 freebie drops which will steadily appear between now-ish and Prime Day (July 12–13). If you want to join Prime Gaming to take advantage of said haul, here's how. Then, as you peruse the other aforementioned sales, don't go buying any of the following. They'll be yours for nada in next to no time. 10 Second Ninja X 8Doors: Arum’s Afterlife Adventure Addling Adventures Bang Bang Racing Clouds & Sheep 2 Death Squared Fatal Fury Special Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams Gone Viral HUE Manual Samuel Mass Effect Legendary Edition Metal Slug 2...
A new patent that was submitted to the United States Patent and Trademark Office by the Valve Corporation reveals an abstract and blueprints of a rumored new virtual reality headset that is similar to the Meta Quest and Quest 2. The patent was submitted in December of 2021 and was published on June 16, 2022. The 53-page document includes an abstract describing the physical product and images of the headsets' components. The product is not named, but it does have a title of "Head-Mounted Display." The abstract describes the product as having "a front having a display housing and a back having rear housing. A first member extends between the front and the back and is adjustable via an actuation of a first rotatable actuator and a...
The best Ultrabooks are designed for those people who prioritize portability and battery life over performance but want something more powerful than a Chromebook. Given the small footprint inherent in the design, there’s bound to be sacrifices made to minimize size and weight, so don't expect to play PC games on the same level as a gaming laptop. Rather, these lightweight laptops are designed to get you through a full workday and then some. The good news is you still get a lot of perks from Ultrabooks like 4K displays and tactile keyboards along with the thin and light frame. Based on a combination of my personal testing experience, price, battery life, specs, and aesthetics, these are the best Ultrabooks on the market – and click...
Diablo Immortal’s release in China has been pushed back, just days before it was due to launch. The official line is that the development team needs more time to optimise the game, but the delay comes in the wake of the banning of Blizzard’s Chinese social media account. Over the weekend, a new press release on the Chinese Blizzard website explained that the Diablo Immortal development team needs to make a number of optimisation adjustments, including support for a wider range of devices, improving render quality, and other network and performance improvements. No new release date was provided, just the news that Diablo Immortal will not release on June 23. NetEase, the Chinese gaming giant and co-developer of Diablo Immortal...
If you saw the painfully bloody gameplay reveal for The Callisto Protocol at this year’s Summer Games Fest, it may not come as a total surprise that developer Striking Distance Studios studied real life examples of gore while researching how to portray the nastier side of horror. In an interview with PCGamesN, Striking Distance’s chief creative officer, Chris Stone, said “we’ve found ourselves looking at a lot of real-life examples of horror and gore. While these were a lot less fun to research, it was some of the most memorable and valuable content when it came to creating realistic visuals and experiences.” The extended gameplay trailer for The Callisto Protocol features numerous sequences of gory violence; weapons tear chunks...
A company that develops cheat codes for Destiny 2 has agreed to pay Bungie $13.5 million in damages in a move that will end a copyright infringement lawsuit. The company has also agreed to a permanent injunction against the creation of any new cheating software for Destiny 2 or any other Bungie game. As seen in court documents and a report from TorrentFreak, Bungie accused Canadian cheats company Elite Boss Tech of violating Destiny 2’s user agreement with its software, as well as costing the developer “exorbitant amounts of money” in developing anti-cheat technology. Bungie also noted that Elite Boss Tech’s software disrupted player experiences and damaged Destiny 2’s reputation, which in turn threatened the game’s commercial...
When you think of Nerf, you likely have fond memories of using a variety of colorful and exciting blasters to fire an endless barrage of foam darts at your friends and family. But that's all about to change once the Hasbro-owned company's first-ever mascot, Murph, is seared into your mind. Murph is an anthropomorphic character made out of hundreds of Nerf darts, who the company says has no set sex or gender and uses they/them pronouns. They lack any facial features – or anything besides a general human-like shape, really – ultimately looking more like something out of a horror film. Murph is an unusual choice to lead Nerf's new campaign, called "Unleash the Play in You", which aims to get more kids and adults outside having fun in...
The battle against cheaters is unfortunately one that will seemingly never end, but Activision's Team RICOCHET continues to come up with inventive ways to combat these ne'er-do-wells, including punishing them in-game by stripping them of all their weapons. Team RICOCHET detailed its latest progress in taking the fight to cheaters in a blog and it revealed more of how it continues to work to make Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone a better experience for all. It began by discussing how "anti-cheat solutions work like anti-virus software." There is no simple fix to take down cheaters, as they are constantly working on new ways to outsmart those trying to stop them. Fortunately, the RICOCHET Anti-Cheat has continued to learn and...
Welcome to another week of wallet-tormenting deals. While it's a bit of a slow month for new releases (beyond the utterly bodacious, borderline tubular TMNT: Shredder's Revenge) it's a great time to invest in discounted hardware. If your life is marred by mind-numbing commutes, best look into scoring a Switch. OLED or OG classic? It matters very little. Likewise, if you can't secure a purchase of the mirage-like Xbox Series X, maybe settle with the perfectly capable (and equally Game Pass friendly) Series S. Lastly, JB is doing 40% off some very decent wheels. Notable Sales for Nintendo Switch Purchase Cheaply for PC Exciting Offers for XO/XS Product Savings for PS4/PS5 Adam’s our Aussie deals wrangler. Ready or Not, the tactical, first-person shooter that entered Early Access in 2021, is back on Steam after a takedown request was issued concerning trademark infringement. As reported by NME, the issue was related to a level that depicted a mass shooting at a nightclub and one that was released on the anniversary of the Pulse nightclub shooting. The nightclub in Ready or Not was called Prysm. Ready or Not developer VOID Interactive announced that its game was back on Steam earlier today, June 18, saying it was "very sorry about this downtime and hope it was not too inconvenient." This apology arrives after it addressed rumors surrounding "the takedown of Ready or Not and its associated pages on Steam that occurred on Thursday, June...
A new mod has placed The Last of Us' Joel and Ellie into the world of 2018's God of War on PC, and the results are spectacular. As reported by Eurogamer, YouTuber OmegaFantasy has not only swapped out the models of God of War's Kratos and Atreus for The Last of Us' Joel and Ellie, but they have also replaced Kratos' Leviathan Axe with a modified pipe more suited for Joel and have turned the Draugrs into Clickers. Additionally, they have changed The Stranger from the beginning of the game to The Last of Us' David, giving the epic fight in the opening moments of the game a whole new meaning. Fans are able to download the mod for themselves via OmegaFantasy's Patreon and they can watch the game in action on their YouTube channel. If...
