Kadokawa Group, a multinational media conglomerate whose holdings include Elden Ring developer FromSoftware and Anime News Network, acknowledged a "significant cyberattack" on Thursday and said it's currently working on "solutions and workarounds" for its systems.
In a lengthy update, Kadokawa Group said that popular Japanese video sharing site Niconico was among the hardest hit by the cyberattack, with all services suspended since June 8. It did not acknowledge FromSoftware, and it's unclear what impact the hack had on the Elden Ring developer, if any. IGN has reached out to FromSoftware for comment or clarification.

Concord was originally teased last year with a simple video that showcased a ship cruising through space. I think a hamburger was involved. Anyway, after seeing that short teaser, I honestly expected to see a story-driven FPS – this is a first-party Sony game, after all – but maybe it’d be something like an MMO, a la Destiny. Developer IO Interactive has revealed McGregor will play a mysterious multi-millionaire MMA fighter known only as The Disruptor, who players must hunt down and kill as Agent 47. The character is practically identical to McGregor, tattoos and all.

Rockstar Games co-founder and former head writer Dan Houser has said a Grand Theft Auto movie "never made sense."
As reported by GI.biz, Houser told The Ankler that making the film — which has faded in and out of obscurity over the years — was a "huge risk" considering the reputation of the GTA brand.

FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki has revealed that he would be open to an adaptation of the studio’s hit 2022 RPG Elden Ring, but only if a “very strong partner” were to come into play.

A content creator known as LastDarkHope has been quietly plugging away on their YouTube channel for the last few months, defeating Elden Ring boss after Elden Ring boss with absolutely no rune levels gained, and no equipment leveled up. Dragon’s Dogma 2 developer Capcom has released a new title update for the game, adding a long-awaited graphics option that should help with frame-rate problems.
The fantasy role-playing sequel, released earlier this year across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, suffers from frame-rate problems especially in areas with lots of NPCs, such as town centers. This problem has dogged Dragon’s Dogma 2 since launch, despite various updates released since.
With the release of this new update (check out the patch notes below) comes a fix for issues around CPU overload in certain situations (this was blamed for Dragon's Dogma 2's frame-rate problems). Capcom said this should improve frame-rates in areas with lots of NPCs.

Valve has announced a new built-in recording system for Steam that will allow players to easily replay, clip, and share moments from their favorite games. It's a nice alternative to the third-party solutions that have been circulation for years, and it even works on Steam Deck.
According to Valve, the new system will work with any game and is engineer with performance in mind. It includes numerous options for customizing disk usage, and allows players to either send a clip to the device of their choice or export it as an mp4 file.

Valve has published a report that highlights an increase in users who play their Steam games with a controller.
The stats reveal that, since 2018, the daily average of controller use has tripled from around 5% to 15%. While many users put the mouse and keyboard aside when playing, Valve says they do have a preference in which controller they choose. The Steam team explains that 59% of controller sessions use an Xbox controller, while PlayStation controllers account for 26% and Steam Decks make up 10%.

Bethesda Games Studios' (BGS) Montreal location is the latest studio to form a union.
In a thread on X/Twitter, the account for the BGS Montreal union, called the One BGS MTL, revealed it filed for certification with the Quebec Labour Board today. The union intends to unionize with the Communications Workers of America (CWA) Canada.

Helldivers 2 director Johan Pilestedt has defended FromSoftware for the difficulty of Elden Ring expansion Shadow of the Erdtree.
As reported by PC Gamer, Pilestedt responded to someone on X/Twitter who complained about the intense difficulty of Shadow of the Erdtree, which has been a heavily discussed topic since its launch on June 21, 2024.

A former Halo and Destiny executive producer at Bungie has said the live service model is "so much better for developers and players" than the one-off $60 or $70 purchase model.
Speaking to PC Gamer, Theorycraft Games CEO and former Halo: Reach and Destiny executive producer Joe Tung said the traditional method of buying video games, meaning to make a single payment of around $60 or $70, causes developers to make decisions which were not "in the best interest" of players.

The original Resident Evil is now finally available on PC again thanks to a collaboration between Capcom and CD Projekt-owned storefront GOG.
An announcement from the latter revealed the classic Resident Evil, not the remastered version, is now available on the store for $9.99. GOG also announced that Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil will join it sometime in 2024, and a $24.99 bundle is available for those who want all three games.
Resident Evil originally arrived on PC in 1996 but didn't exist on any digital storefronts until now. Steam, which has the remastered version but not the original, is expected to get the classic version soon, however, as a listing for it was spotted on European rating website PEGI.

Elden Ring developer FromSoftware has released its first patch for the game following the release of Shadow of the Erdtree, bringing it up to Update 1.12.2.
A blog post from Bandai Namco outlined the changes, which mainly involve a handful of balancing updates. Shadow Realm Blessings have been revised, affecting their attack and damage negation curve scaling.
The patch also addresses a PC bug where raytracing settings are automatically enabled if players have previously loaded save data from previous game versions. This can be addressed by visiting System, then Graphics Settings, then Raytracing Quality, and setting Raytracing to Off.
FromSoftware made no mention of the bug affecting Steam Deck users that makes the game unplayable...
