Modern Warfare Zombies developer Treyarch has confirmed it has moved on from development for the mode, leaving Sledgehammer Games to wrap up the remaining story. Treyarch told CharlieIntel its team has shifted "focus to something exciting on the horizon", which is perhaps a nod to this year’s as-yet unannounced Call of Duty game, Black Ops Gulf War. The confirmation is perhaps unsurprising given the lack of content Modern Warfare Zombies has received in recent months. Indeed today’s Season 3 update contains little for Zombies fans to get excited about, whereas Multiplayer and battle royale Warzone are in-line for a content-filled season. In February, Zombies fans declared the mode “dead” just three months after Modern Warfare 3...
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Season 3 kicks off today, April 3, and Activision has released patch notes revealing what to expect. The patch notes, by developers Sledgehammer Games and Treyarch, include detail on the six new 6v6 multiplayer maps for Modern Warfare 3. Three of these maps are brand-new locales and layouts, while the other three are fresh yet familiar experiences. The Emergency 24/7 Playlist launches with the start of the season. New modes include Capture the Flag and One in the Chamber, while the battle pass unlocks four base weapons, including the MORS sniper rifle and BAL-27 assault rifle from 2014’s Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. There are eight new aftermarket parts, two new equipment items, new perks, new...
Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead has given all players a new cape to celebrate what it’s called 'Malevelon Creek Memorial Day.' "By Presidential Decree, the President of Super Earth has officially recognized this day as Malevelon Creek Memorial Day," reads an in-universe statement. "This week, in remembrance, all Helldivers will be issued a special commemorative cape, so they may carry the memory of their fallen companions into battle." The cape, called Fallen Hero’s Vengeance, features the skull that displays on-screen when a Helldiver bites the dust (it happens a lot!). There are no additional bonuses, so this cape is all about showing respect. The cape and accompanying message to players is all part of Helldivers 2’s Galactic...

Diablo 4 players impatiently waiting to try Season 4 can now do so thanks to Blizzard releasing the game's first Public Test Realm (PTR). Blizzard initially announced the PTR in late March, revealing that it would run for a limited time, starting on Tuesday, April 2, and concluding on Tuesday, April 9. However, a week-long PTR is not the only thing limiting this PTR, as Blizzard already confirmed in the same announcement that it would only be available to players with a PC Battle.net account. Nevertheless, if you are eligible for the PTR, you will gain access to test updates and features before Season 4 officially launches. Alongside allowing certain players itching to try the new season, this PTR will also allow the development team...
The 512GB model of the Steam Deck is back in stock via trusted retailer The Game Collection on eBay, and what's more, you can pick it up for just £360 with the code CLEARANCE20. Not only is this a tremendous discount, but it's also the best place to buy the portable PC right now, considering the 512GB model is currently out of stock directly through Steam as well. This new deal is part of a new clearance sale for retailers via eBay, which isn't as sitewide as previous promo codes, but still includes some reasonably notable offers. This includes Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth down to just £47.96 right now, and Fallout S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Anthology (PC) preorders for £38.36. This code is the latest in a series of eBay codes, but this one only...
Atari has bought the RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 publishing rights from Frontier Developments for $7 million. Atari, which has a long-term RollerCoaster Tycoon licensing agreement with franchise creator Chris Sawyer, said it is now the sole publisher of all major titles within the RollerCoaster Tycoon franchise, including Rollercoaster Tycoon Classic, Rollercoaster Tycoon 2, Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, Rollercoaster Tycoon Deluxe, Rollercoaster Tycoon Joyride, Rollercoaster Tycoon World, Rollercoaster Tycoon Puzzle, and Rollercoaster Tycoon Touch. The hugely successful Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 was developed by Frontier Developments, the UK studio behind Elite: Dangerous and Zoo Tycoon, and released in 2004. It’s available now on PC, Mac, iOS...
Fresh from bringing back classics such as Star Wars: Dark Forces, Turok 3, and Quake 2, Nightdive Studios has announced its next restoration — and it’s a game no-one expected. You’d be forgiven for having not heard of PO'ed. It was developed and published by Any Channel Inc. initially for the 3DO in 1995, with a PlayStation port released in 1996 courtesy of defunct publisher Accolade. In the game you play a chef who tries to escape an alien world. It’s very mid-90s video game! Here’s the official blurb, courtesy of Nightdive: PO'ed: Definitive Edition is an updated version of the 1995 first-person space shooter, and it’s coming soon to PC and consoles. The Definitive Edition features updated visuals, antialiasing, increased...
Celebrate hump day by paying chump change for good games. Top of that list has to be It Takes Two, surely one of the most delightful two-player co-op games you can buy that centres on divorce. Speaking of co-opportunities, an 85% descent on the RRP of The Ascent is amazing. Lastly, the continuing deals on Elden Ring and FC 24 are still welcome here (while they last). In retro news, I'm celebrating the dual 21st birthdays of Metroid Prime and Pokémons Ruby and Sapphire. The former looms large in our modern memories thanks to a remastering that proved how timeless Retro Studios FPS / puzzler was. My overriding memory of it was the mind-blowing moment when I noticed the right amount of light would cause Samus' face to reflect on-screen...
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake is one of gaming's most elusive projects. Announced in 2021, the long-awaited remake has changed hands multiple times, seemingly stopped development and restarted again, and after six years of development has yet to manifest. Fortunately, we finally have a real, concrete update on what's going on. Saber Interactive is still working on it, and according to the CEO, it's "alive and well." Speaking to IGN in an interview today, Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch confirmed that the company took KOTOR with it during its split from Embracer Group, and that the game is still in active development. "It's clear and it's obivous that we're working on this," he said. "It's been in the press...
In my Once Human demo, things got really weird when I wanted to ride the bus. And that's because the bus had legs. In a post-apocalyptic open world where an outbreak of cosmic energy called Stardust has sent everything a little wacky, even the public transport is bonkers. Once Human is currently Steam’s 11th most-wishlisted game – a multiplayer open-world survival game in which players can battle creatures or each other, build and defend shared territories, indulge in OTT combat or just chill with friends at their base. Ahead of its final closed beta test (which starts April 3) and planned Q3 launch, the development team at Starry Studio gave me a private glimpse at what’s to come. But first, back to the bus. Once Human’s monsters...
Nightmare Kart, which was known as Bloodborne Kart until its creator scrubbed the branding in 2024, officially has a release date. Developer Lilith Walther, aka PSX Bunlith, announced on X/Twitter that the "legally distinct" kart racer will be releasing on May 31 on Steam and Itch.io. The announcement touts 20 racers, 16 maps, a full campaign mode with boss fights, and a versus battle mode. It also includes a short trailer that you can watch below. In addition to the release date, Bunlish shouted out Bloodbo... ahem, Nightmare Kart's soundtrack, which was composed by Evelyn Lark. To celebrate the release date announcement, Lark posted a sample of the title screen theme as well as a link to a video featuring the full song...
Despite its delisting and the impending shuttering of its servers, fans of Friday the 13th: The Game have reason to rejoice, thanks to a fan project. Friday the 13th: Resurrected is a free-to-play modded build of Friday the 13th: The Game, and the team behind the project announced yesterday that it plans to reveal the release date for the mod on Monday, April 15. Along with providing dedicated multiplayer servers, Resurrected also promises to introduce a roster full of exclusive fan-made content, such as new characters and skins. Last year, publisher Gun Interactive announced it was delisting the game on December 31, 2023, due to the publisher losing the Friday the 13th license. While the servers are still up and running, the same...
Developer Yellow Brick Games, a new game development studio founded by AAA industry vets, including the longtime creative director of BioWare’s Dragon Age series, Mike Laidlaw, has announced Eternal Strands. This third-person action-adventure draws inspiration from the likes of Shadow of the Colossus and Monster Hunter, where you’re doing battle with massive creatures hellbent on destroying you, and combines that with Tears of the Kingdom-like physics-manipulating powers to turn you into the ultimate sorcerer supreme badass. You play as a Weaver named Brynn, one of the few remaining magic users left after the use of magic caused a cataclysmic event that destroyed much of her world. Alongside the members of your fellow magic-using...
Landfall’s surprise April Fools release Content Warning has been claimed by more than 6 million Steam users in only 24 hours. The party game’s publisher announced the major milestone in an update post on its Steam page, saying that more than 6.2 million players have already added the Lethal Company-like to their profiles. The team was able to move so many copies because Content Warning was free to keep for those who were able to claim a copy within the 24-hour window. Regardless, with no prior announcements, Content Warning’s success is staggering. For those who may have stayed away from the internet on April Fools Day, Content Warning sees you and up to three friends grab handheld video cameras and try to capture hilarious and...
Just as the Helldivers 2 community was trying to make sense of mysterious cloaked ships and get to grips with a balance-changing update that adds new planetary hazards, players found more additions to the game developer Arrowhead failed to announce up front in the patch notes. Spoilers for Helldivers 2 follow. The Automatons, Helldivers 2’s alien robot faction, now have new aerial gunships at their disposal. These were signaled in flavor text from a recently completed Major Order, and are causing havoc on the battlefield by firing deadly red lasers from above. Thankfully, the aerial gunships can be destroyed, although you’ll need sufficiently powerful weaponry to do so. Heavy duty Stratagems such as the Expendable Anti-Tank and the...
Meet Will Ospreay, a 30-year-old Assassin’s Creed fan who many consider to currently be the best professional wrestler in the world. Will’s not just a fan of Assassin’s Creed though, his entire career has been built on the foundation of the Ubisoft series, and since his early wrestling days he has gone by the Ezio-inspired moniker ‘The Aerial Assassin’. “I love [the phrase] ‘work in the dark to serve the light’,” explains Ospreay. “It spoke volumes [to me] for some strange reason. It just felt like a superhero [mantra I wanted to adopt] weirdly, and I love being the good guy. I love it. “I went on eBay and bought a cosplay outfit of Assassin's Creed.” he shares. “Everyone knew it was a cosplay jacket, [but] people understood what I...
Rockstar has announced plans to add Bully and LA Noire to GTA+ later in 2024. The ‘Games Included With GTA+’ library recently saw the addition of Red Dead Redemption. Bully and LA Noire, both published by Rockstar Games, are next up, although Rockstar’s wording here suggests more games are coming. “We recently added Red Dead Redemption — with access to Undead Nightmare — to the stellar Games Included With GTA+ library, and Members can look forward to more Rockstar classics becoming available later this year, including L.A. Noire and Bully,” Rockstar said. Bully is Rockstar Vancouver’s much-loved open-world juvenile delinquent sim that first launched in 2006 on PlayStation 2. A sequel was once in development at Rockstar’s New...
Believe it or not, it's been 20 years since Halo 2 debuted on the original Xbox. That's a big milestone, and Dark Horse is celebrating by releasing an epic new statue of Master Chief in action. IGN can exclusively debut the first images of the Halo 2: Master Chief 20th Anniversary Statue. Get a closer look in the slideshow gallery below: The Halo 2: Master Chief 20th Anniversary Statue features Chief with rifle blazing as he slides down the side of an exploding spacecraft. It measures 9” by 11” by 8.5” and features LED lights powered by USB. This polyresin statue is based on the artwork of Craig Mullins. It was sculpted by Bigshot Toyworks, with prototyping and paintwork by J.W. Productions. The Halo 2: Master Chief 20th...
Ascendant Studios is gearing up for a big update for Immortals of Aveum. The console versions will soon get High Dynamic Range (HDR) and FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) 3 support, providing enhanced visual quality, optimized performance, and more mileage on the console hardware without requiring more horsepower. As reported by Digital Foundry, Immortals of Aveum will get two major updates that add significant technical enhancements to the action shooter game. The first one, patch 1.0.6.3, adds HDR support to the console versions. More interestingly, patch 1.0.6.4 adds support for AMD's third-generation supersampling technology. The latter will be added to both the console and PC versions of Immortals of Aveum. The news itself is...
Sony has announced two additions to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog in April 2024. In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Sony announced that Dave the Diver hits PlayStation Plus Game Catalog on April 16. Dave the Diver was one of the surprise hits of 2023, receiving a 9/10 from IGN’s review. We said: “Dave The Diver is an aquatic adventure RPG that’s wholesome, wonderfully complex, and delightfully hard to put down.” Meanwhile, also on PlayStation Blog, Sony announced that Tales of Kenzera: Zau releases day-one into the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog on April 23. This EA-published, Surgent Studios-developed 2.5D story-driven, action-exploration game was shaped by Assassin’s Creed actor Abubakar Salim’s own experience with grief. The...
Microsoft has announced the first wave of games coming to Game Pass in April 2024. Highlights include Lego 2K Drive, EA Sports PGA Tour, and Harold Halibut. Out today, April 2, is Superhot: Mind Control Delete (Cloud, Console, and PC), which returns to the Game Pass library. Tomorrow, April 3, Lego 2K Drive (Cloud and Console) hits Game Pass. IGN’s review returned an 8/10: We said: “LEGO 2K Drive is a wild and whimsical all-ages kart racer with an incredible custom vehicle creation tool that’s just about worth the price of admission alone.” Two games hit Game Pass on April 4: Lil Gator Game (Cloud, Console, and PC), and EA Sports PGA Tour (Cloud, PC, Xbox Series X|S) via EA Play. Moving on, two games launch on Game Pass on April 9...
While I can’t honestly call myself a diehard MechWarrior fan – I’ve never played the pen-and-paper roleplaying game, for instance – I have enjoyed many of the video games over the years, from MechWarrior 3 to both MechAssault games on Xbox. I skipped the original version of MechWarrior 5 because, while it was by most accounts a good game, its content was all procedurally generated. It wasn’t narrative-driven. And I love a good story-first MechWarrior campaign. MechWarrior 5: Clans, then, appears to be exactly what I’ve been asking for: a narrative-led MechWarrior campaign that also happens to offer five-player co-op. It picks up immediately where 2019’s MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries – itself the first single-player MechWarrior game of...
Every once in a while, my job affords me the wonderful opportunity to go into a game demo completely blind and come out completely enlightened. All I knew about Jump Ship before I met with three of its ten-person Swedish development team – including Daniel Kaplan, who was employee #1 at Mojang, and Filip Coulianos, a cofounder at Hazelight – was that it was codenamed Hyperspace and that it would be “a four-player co-op adventure where you and three of your friends get to live the ultimate space fantasy.” It started as a tech demo but everyone loved it so now it’s being made into a full game. I was fortunate enough to play a 30-minute session with Kaplan, Coulianos, and another member of Keepsake Games, and I was blown away. The...
The latest surprise Steam hit is Content Warning, a Lethal Company-style game that’s enjoying enormous success on Valve’s platform off the back of a ‘free to keep’ promotion that ends soon. Content Warning launched April 1 with 100% off for the first 24 hours, after which the game will cost $7.99. This promotion, plus the fact the game looks like a hoot, saw a concurrent players peak of 90,000 and rising. “Every year for April 1st aka Landfall Day we do something special,” said publisher Landfall Publishing. “This year we’re releasing Content Warning for free for anyone who downloads it between now 9am PT and 9am PT tomorrow April 2nd. “We do this as a special treat to our community so that as many people as possible will have the...
I seriously wanted the headline to be, "Own every Fallout game for less than $23" -- but that's technically a lie and we don't do clickbait here at IGN, right? In reality, you're missing out on some obscure titles (sorry) like Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel on the PS2, but this is the best we've got and it's still pretty damn good for what's included. Right now at Fanatical, you can score seven Fallout games on PC for just $22.49, which includes Fallout Classic Collection (Fallout, Fallout Tactics, Fallout 2), Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Fallout 4, and Fallout 76 (all Steam codes). This is one of the best PC video game deals around right now, and well worth considering if you haven't played through the whole series just yet. FYI...
Helldivers 2’s latest patch makes some significant changes to the game balance and adds more planetary hazards for players to contend with. Patch 01.000.200, out now across PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam, makes balance changes to missions, Stratagems, weapons, enemies, and the Helldivers themselves, as well as general fixes and stability improvements. On the gameplay side, developer Arrowhead has added two new planetary hazards: blizzards and sandstorms. On the balance side, Arrowhead has tweaked the Retrieve Essential Personnel mission type, moving enemy spawn points farther away from the objective “to give players a fairer chance of defending the location”, and making it so there are fewer civilians required to complete the mission...
Mere hours after liberating Malevelon Creek, Helldivers 2 players have a new threat to contend with: mysterious cloaked ships. Players took to social media and forums to post screenshots showing what appear to be enormous ships in orbit around Automaton planets. Redditor infinity__cube appears to be the first Helldiver to have reported a sighting, but more images have emerged since. The evidence is irrefutable: the cloaked ships are there, but they appear to be lying in wait. Yesterday, April 1, developer Arrowhead delivered a new Major Order to Helldivers 2 players, giving them a 24-hour window to finally take back Malevelon Creek, the Automaton map dubbed ‘Space Vietnam’ by fans. The planet was liberated in only about five hours...
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a big hit for Capcom, selling 2.5 million copies across PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S in just 11 days. The sprawling action role-playing game went on sale on March 22. Capcom announced Dragon’s Dogma 2 had passed 2.5 million sold on April 2. Total Dragon’s Dogma franchise sales have now exceeded 10 million units, Capcom added. To put Dragon’s Dogma 2’s sales into context, it took the first Dragon’s Dogma game a month to sell 1.05 million units after it went on sale at the end of May 2012, a tally Capcom declared a success. “Capcom carried out various global-facing promotional activities with the aim of attracting not only long-time fans of the series but newcomers as well, including the...
Welcome back to a blessed short-week of sweet game savings. If you're a newbie planning to take shade in the Erdtree DLC that's got everybody riled up, I've found a great price on the base Elden Ring to get you started. Alternatively, there are now some $60-and-under Switch evergreen must-owns that ought to be growing in your collection. Lastly, if that stupidly popular Stellar Blade demo impressed you, preorder the full version at this less-than-RRP discount. In retro news, I'm celebrating the 20th birthday of Pac-Man Vs., a rare GameCube gem developed by Shigeru Miyamoto. Packaged as a R: Racing Evolution bonus disc, it was an asymmetrical local multiplayer game that had 3 "ghost" players hunting a Pac-Man player. The twist: the...
