There are few ideas more worthy of a sequel than that which powered Splitgate. Cribbing Aperture Science’s portal tech and loading it into a competitive arena shooter? I mean, c’mon – who the heck wouldn’t want to play that?! But while the first stab at this awesome concept proved too much of a rough draft to keep players’ fickle attentions for long, Splitgate 2 hopes to build on what worked by making modest improvements to the formula. After playing four hours of its fast-paced PvP matches for myself, I think this streamlined sequel stands a much better chance of keeping my attention, even though it seems like it won’t exactly swing for the fences with the kind of significant overhauls one might hope for.

Nexon has unveiled The First Descendant Season 1, called Invasion, alongside fresh details on a new playable character, lore, and plenty more coming to its popular free-to-play co-op focused looter shooter.
The new Descendant is Hailey, a legendary sniper who stars in the trailer, below. Also coming with Season 1 are new Invasion Dungeon challenges and seasonal power scaling. Here’s the story setup:

Geoff Keighley has teased the reveal of a brand new game some fans believe is a new entry in the Dying Light series.
Keighley tweeted a live action video called The Beast, which depicts a woman desperately trying to escape from a terrifying beast in a wooded area. Alongside the tease is the promise of more information at ONL, which kicks off at 11am PT / 2pm ET tomorrow, August 20.
But what is The Beast? Fans have already linked it to a recent trademark for a new Dying Light game called Dying Light: The Beast, which popped up on the United States Patent and Trademark Office last week. Dying Light developer Techland is listed as the owner of the trademark.
The question now is whether Dying Light: The Beast is DLC for Dying Light 2...
Black Myth: Wukong developer Game Science has confirmed the global release times for the hotly anticipated action game, revealing when it goes live across the world.
The release date is set for 10am UTC+8 on August 20, which means Black Myth: Wukong actually goes live at 7pm Pacific on August 19 and 3am UK on August 20.

The original Resident Evil 2 has a release date on GOG.
The classic 1998 survival horror video game returns to PC on August 27, 2024. This version is based on the original PC version from 1998, and includes a “variety of quality of life improvements, compatibility with modern systems, full modern controller support, and even more,” GOG said.

An email sent from the Black Myth: Wukong marketing team tells content creators they must not include “feminist propaganda” or use what are called “trigger words” such as COVID-19.
The email, which hit social media after it was sent to a number of content creators by a representative of Chinese games company Hero Games, was verified by IGN over the weekend via a source who asked not to be named. PUBG publisher Krafton is bringing over roughly 50 of the 100 staff members employed at Hi-Fi Rush developer Tango Gameworks while it operated under (and was shut down by) Microsoft.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered mod H2M, which sought to revive Modern Warfare 2 (2009) multiplayer on PC, has been canceled on the eve of its launch after its developers said they received a cease and desist letter from Activision.
The mod team’s official X/Twitter account broke the news today, letting players know that they are bringing their work to a halt after receiving the letter today. The date of the cease and desists arrival almost exactly coincides with H2M’s August 16 release date, which was announced last Friday. Its X account’s biography now only says “SHUTDOWN.”

Bungie knows there are a lot of Destiny 2 players who had their in-game names changed against their will, but it’s not sure when a fix will arrive for everyone.
The Destiny developer acknowledged concerns in a series of posts on X/Twitter. Although it has implemented a server-wide fix to ensure no one else will be affected, it’s unclear when players will be able to change their names back. For now, Bungie simply says that the hiccup impacted a “high number” of accounts.
