Hi-Rez Studios has pulled all Dr Disrespect content from Rogue Company after the streamer was alleged to have sent sexually explicit messages to a minor. Guy Beahm, better known as Dr Disrespect, was banned from Twitch in 2020 without explanation. Last month, following a number of reports, Beahm admitted he exchanged messages in 2017 with a minor via Twitch's now-defunct Whispers feature that "sometimes leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate." Subsequent reports alleged the minor had informed Beahm they were underage, and Beahm continued to send "sexually graphic" messages to them regardless. Twitch and Beahm have not responded to IGN's request for comment. Partners and sponsors like Turtle Beach, 2K, and the San...
Welcome to another full week of wall-to-wall savings. As per always, I've scoured every store worth trusting to find nothing but the games worth playing at the prices they probably should have been to begin with. I've also taken the time to relist that Forza Horizon 4 delist deal. Given the weird way Microsoft is sunsetting things, it seems the Ultimate Edition really is the way to go. In retro news, I'm celebrating the 29th birthday of the Sega Saturn, a commercial failure that still holds a special place in the sub-cockles of my heart. What did it in? Complex hardware design that hindered the harnessing of its 3D capabilities, limited third-party support, and the suits severely underestimated the upstart Sony PlayStation. Be that as...

It’s exhausting out here and, yes, it is definitely the time to be aware, determined, and vigilant about our crumbling world, but jeeezzus freakin’ cracker do I need some bread and circus. And there’s nothing more carbs and carnival these days than wrestling, so let’s dive into it. I raised this question last week but I wanted to get a lay of the IGN reader landscape right now. We’ve got Cody Rhodes vs. The Rock on the horizon. The best bet is WrestleMania 41 (the actual 40th Anniversary of ‘Mania). So does Cody hold the WWE Undisputed Championship until then? Like, is that a given? After years of Roman Reigns being guaranteed a safe title ride between ‘Manias, are we back at it again? That’s not to say Cody couldn’t lose the belt...

Fortnite developer Epic Games has referred Apple to the European Commission over its rejection in bringing its game store to the EU, Epic said in a statement on X/Twitter on Friday. In the X/Twitter thread, which you can read below, Epic says Apple has rejected the notarization submission of its game store twice. The reason given by Apple, Epic says, is similarities between the Epic Game Store's "Install" and "In-app purchases" buttons and Apple's "Get" and "In-App Purchases" labels. Epic, however, argues that Apple's "rejection is arbitrary, obstructive, and in violation of the DMA (Digital Markets Act)," and that it is following standard conventions in order to make the Epic Game Store easy for users to understand. "Barring...
Over ten years and four expansions Square Enix explored the story of two warring gods, Hydaelyn and Zodiark, and the fractured worlds created through that, coming to a climactic finish in Endwalker. How do you follow up a decade of storytelling that’s garnered tens of millions of fans in the process? Final Fantasy 14’s answer is to do something drastically different with its newest expansion, Dawntrail, adopting a much lighter, more adventurous tone, tremendous visual changes, and introduces a new cast of characters. It’s still a Final Fantasy game through and through, but fascinatingly it feels like Dawntrail has drawn inspiration from another seminal, perpetually never-ending series: One Piece. When Dawntrail was first announced...
Developer Nexon has released the first post-launch update for The First Descendant, which brings some much-needed improvements to the game after its rough launch. Hotfix 1.0.1, out now across PC, PlayStation and Xbox, improves performance on PlayStation 5 specifically (the PS5 version has significant frame-rate issues), makes gameplay tweaks and various bug fixes, and fixes the logo sound volume on game launch. On gameplay, knockback and knockdown recovery times have been sped up by 1.5 times, and the maximum usage of the Eterllick shield skill per phase has been reduced from two times to one time. There are no changes to The First Descendant's heavily criticized monetization, however, which some have called "microtransaction hell."...
Spoiler Warning: This article contains spoilers for the final boss of Elden Ring expansion Shadow of the Erdtree. Proceed with caution! Elden Ring expansion Shadow of the Erdtree comes with plenty of additional lore that ties up some of the base game's loose ends and threads many more, but its final boss didn't have a word of dialogue itself. That seemingly wasn't the original plan, however, as one player went digging into the files of Shadow of the Erdtree and found some cut dialogue that didn't make it into the final version. As reported by The Gamer, Reddit user LaMi_1 shared the brief snippets online, and though they don't give much away, the dialogue would ironically silence some of the complaints voiced by players upon...
The First Descendant is only a week old but it’s already suffering from a player toxicity problem the developer has said it will investigate. Nexon’s free-to-play co-op focused looter shooter, a sort of fusion of the likes of Warframe and Destiny, launched on June 30 and players have already found toxicity in the chat, such as inappropriate comments as well as hack adverts designed to encourage players to pay to cheat. Some The First Descendant players have called the chat a “cesspool”, making it hard to find others to group up with in-game. Nexon issued an update to say it has now launched an investigation but stopped short of confirming a plan of action. “We're inspecting abusive gaming behavior to ensure that all Descendants...
Coffee Stain Studios’ much-loved factory building game Satisfactory has a version 1.0 release date: September 10, 2024. Satisfactory leaves early access after five years of development and an impressive 5.5 million copies sold, Coffee Stain Studios, which also developed Goat Simulator, said. Satisfactory is an open-world factory building game with a dash of exploration and combat for up to four players. The game upgraded to Unreal Engine 5 this year. Here’s the official blurb: 1.0 brings with it “premium plumbing”, which means the HUB’s “once trivial toilet has been updated with an advanced flushing mechanism, providing an extra luxurious worker experience for fans.” Check that out in the trailer below. Satisfactory entered...
Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail launched on July 2, 2024 with some technical issues but that didn't stop it from drawing the most players to the massively multiplayer online game in over a decade. In a blog post, Final Fantasy 14 director Naoki Yoshida thanked players for their support of Dawntrail and said the MMO had enjoyed its highest numbers since the game-changing A Realm Reborn update was released in 2013. "I would like to thank you all for your patience and cooperation in dealing with server congestion during the early access for Dawntrail," Yoshida said. "With your support, we were able to reach a record number of concurrent users we’ve not seen since the release of A Realm Reborn in 2013." A Realm Reborn is the revamp that...

A former Rockstar developer has said the company canceled a standalone Grand Theft Auto 5 story DLC because GTA Online emerged as a “cash cow" soon after launch. Joe Robino, who was a senior camera artist and virtual cinematographer working at Rockstar’s New York office from 2010 to 2016, spoke to the SanInPlay YouTube channel about why this much-rumored GTA 5 story DLC fell by the wayside after GTA 5 came out in September 2013. “A lot of the team went to do Red Dead Redemption 2 right away and I took on this other project that was a standalone DLC for GTA that never came out and it was kick ass,” Robino revealed. “That was my thing. I was one of the main editors, camera artists, and on-stage stuff. We split our teams into two. I...
Capcom’s co-op dinosaur mech game Exoprimal will not receive any new content, the company has announced just a year after the game came out. The shooter launched in July 2023 as a brand new intellectual property from Capcom and an attempt to create a successful live service. Despite various updates and crossovers with other Capcom franchises, such as Street Fighter, that attempt has not been as successful as hoped. According to SteamDB, Exoprimal had a 24-hour peak concurrent player count of just 66 on Valve's platform, with only 41 concurrent players at the time of this article's publication. Capcom said that with the release of Title Update 4, all planned Exoprimal seasonal content has been finished. After Season 4, which concludes...
The First Descendant has enjoyed a big launch, but it’s also been marred by a number of issues that developer Nexon has continued to apologize and offer compensation for. Since the free-to-play co-op focused looter shooter launched a long list of issues has emerged, including frame-rate problems, the failure to deliver on promised items such as Twitch drops, and for some players, the failure to deliver items they’ve paid real-world money for. The latter issue revolves around a problem where customers have yet to receive items when they’ve bought the same item multiple times through the basket on Steam or the PlayStation or Xbox platform stores. Developer Nexon issued an update on this “mass Caliber purchase error,” promising a fix...
Thank your own personal deity—possibly the Elden Beast—it's Friday! Even better, it's the start of a school holiday period, which means you're going to want a ton of cheap games to either keep yourself (or your kids) occupied for hours. My continuing Steam Summer Sale picks ought to handle that function pretty well, plus I'm always on the hunt for discount Amazon / digital store wares worth scooping. So stay tuned, stay safe, save often, and see you Monday! In retro news, I'm celebrating the 17th birthday of Resident Evil 4 on Wii, one of the most surprising ports I've ever played. While there were a ton of first-party Wii games at the time worth adoring, third-party publishers seemed to have trouble (or not much interest in)...

During Anime Expo, Arc System Works unveiled a world premiere teaser trailer for its upcoming Guilty Gear anime, Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers, which is set to be released sometime next year. Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Riders is a 3D CG anime adaptation of the eponymous fighting game that is being animated by SANZIGEN. While the teaser gave little away story-wise, the trailer did showcase the long-running fighting game's central characters, Sol Badguy and Sin Kiske. The trailer, which is stylized in a similar fashion to the game's cutscenes, pits the pair against a mysterious new foe named Unika, who has a grudge against Gears. Guilty Gear stands head and shoulders above other fighting games series thanks in part to it being one of...
According to a report on the alleged "toxic, bullying, manipulative, and retaliatory behavior" of The Umbrella Academy showrunner Steve Blackman, The Horizon Zero Dawn TV series is seemingly not moving forward at Netflix. As reported by Rolling Stone, twelve staffers and a HR complaint have detailed the hostle workplace that was said to have been fostered by Blackman, although the showrunner has said these claims are "entirely untrue" and "completely absurd." At the end of the report, it is stated that Blackman was offered an overall development deal reportedly worth $50 million at Netflix in 2020, and the Horizon Zero Dawn series was part of that package alongside an original outer-space thriller series called Orbital. Now...

There's nothing quite like the first time you explored Skyrim. From the moment you narrowly escape your grisly execution in Helgen and emerge into the legendary RPG's vast wilderness, it's an adventure that allows you to go anywhere and everywhere with no limitations, and it's this sense of sheer freedom that's had millions of players returning to its cold, untamed landscape for over a decade. But after spending years exploring the many different versions of Skyrim that have been released, it's safe to say we're all looking for some new games to scratch that fantasy adventuring itch. So, to ease the wait until we get an official follow-up in the long-anticipated Elder Scrolls 6, we've compiled a list of some of the best games in the...
Elden Ring developer FromSoftware has released the first hefty game update, Version 1.12.3, following the release of Shadow of the Erdtree, which reduces the strength of overpowered weapons. Detailed on publisher Bandai Namco's website, the patch includes several changes and bug fixes including the reduction of power of several weapons deemed too strong. These include the Smithscript Dagger, Smithscript Cirque, Smithscript Axe, Smithscript Greathammer, Smithscript Spear, Smithscript Shield, and Golem Fist — and something used in the "OP" build discovered hours before the patch was released. FromSoftware has "fixed a bug" that saw thrusting shields "consume less stamina than intended." The Smithscript Dagger and Smithscript Cirque...
Playing with nostalgia-laden imagery from the early 2000s, Zenless Zone Zero sees developer HoYoverse pivot gracefully from the fantastical settings of Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail into an enticing urban dystopia. It’s a universe where you’ll duke it out in glitzy real-time fights as a trio of streetwear-clad agents, solving simple puzzles as their handler between battles to help them navigate a labyrinth of encounters – and that’s before you get to the carousel of social side activities layered on top. A mouthful of tasteful influences combine into something effortlessly stylish but also a bit inconsistent, occasionally undone by a lack of depth. Yet Zenless Zone Zero got its hooks into me regardless; its relentless charm...
Tekken 8 director Katsuhiro Harada's official X/Twitter account has quickly become the fighting game community town square thanks in part to his extra long behind-the-scenes trivia posts and occasional Waffle House asides. Harada's latest bit of Tekken lore dump put to bed a long-running fandom perception that Tekken devs have always hated Anna Williams. In an impromptu Q&A X/Twitter post, Harada responded to a fan's question about the relationship dynamic between Nina and Anna. In his 1,317-word response — which was written during his lunch break — Harada also addressed the community rumor about Tekken devs hating Anna by stating the exact opposite. "By the way, there is a small group of people who believe that Anna is not loved by...
Yes, you can play Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas via Netflix—I know; we were surprised when we learned that, too. Even better, cheats work, meaning you can wreak havoc from the comfort of your mobile or tablet device. We've compiled the full list of GTA San Andreas Netflix cheat codes, which includes cheats such as infinite health and stamina, one-hit kills, and weapon spawns. There are even codes to change the weather if you'd prefer brighter (or stormier!) surroundings. While there's nothing wrong with playing as intended, there's something special about popping a cheat code to spawn a fast car to evade the maximum Wanted Level. GTA San Andreas is chaotic as is, but cheats take things to a whole new level of madness. All GTA San...
Battlefield 2042 is keeping its post-launch content rolling with a surprise Dead Space crossover event. The limited-time event, which has been given the name Outbreak, brings more than just an Isaac Clarke-like engineer skin for players to enjoy. EA and Dice say the mode will see squads “tested by their human resilience and resourcefulness against a new and relentless enemy all while trying to escape the Boreas laboratory.” Its first trailer shows enemies that cross between Necromorphs and standard zombies rushing players as they use non-Plasma Cutter weaponry to cut them down. The Battlefield 2042 Dead Space crossover event runs from July 9 through July 16, and you can see its trailer below. With Outbreak comes a selection of free...
Is the new Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, too difficult? Opinions are mixed, but fortunately, there are many options to make the DLC more doable if you're struggling. One of them that's particularly beloved by the community right now is one of the new weapons introduced in said DLC: thrusting shields. The Elden Ring community has reached a consensus: these shields are good. Real good. There are dozens of threads on the Elden Ring subreddit praising them over the last few weeks, with one thread in particular shooting to the top of the subreddit in recent days with the following subject: "New Thrusting shields are the strongest weapons in the entire game and it's not even close. NG+ DLC was absolutely obliterated. Thrusting...
