If you're anything like me, The Acolyte has got you amped up to go shred people, places, and things with a lightsaber again. The good news: Jedi Survivor has had 60% cleaved off and it's wall-to-wall laser swords. Alternatively, I have also found the cheapest deals on Star Wars Outlaws which...er, doesn't seem to include one single lightsaber in it. Shades of Dark Forces that I'm keen to preview soon. In retro news, I'm celebrating the 21st birthday of WarioWare Inc., the Game Boy Advance grandaddy of a beloved microgames empire. Along with absurd tasks like picking one's nose skillfully or shooting a bidet sprayer at a starfish-shaped something, I recall being delighted with the snippets from NES classics and this weirdly addictive...
Player First Games has clued players into how upcoming patches will flesh out its Warner Bros.-themed platform fighter, MultiVersus, with more enhancements, options, and the return of the Iron Giant. The developer detailed its plans on social media today, promising to deliver improvements based on player feedback in the near future. Included in the list of soon-to-be changes are performance improvements, End of Game stats, and the option to turn off team colors. Additionally, Player First clarifies that the option to purchase extra lives in-game is unintentional and has been addressed. Meanwhile, the studio explains that its work on Iron Giant is still underway, but it plans to reintroduce the character “shortly.” The Iron Giant was...
Despite rumors stating Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero will release without local multiplayer — a staple in anime arena fighters — the game will seemingly have both an online and local multiplayer feature on release. As spotted by X/Twitter user SLOplays and verified by IGN, Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero’s updated listing on the PlayStation store states the game will have local multiplayer. Prior to the game’s store update, players were under the impression that Sparking! Zero wouldn’t launch with local multiplayer because its PlayStation and Steam pages listed it as a single-player game. It was also previously reported from a fan-translated interview with producer Jun Furutani that local split-screen modes wouldn’t be included in the game...

Sony’s upcoming team-based shooter Concord appears to be following the example of Helldivers 2 in having a more affordable price tag to garner interest. Although the United States PlayStation store doesn’t list Concord’s price, eagle-eyed users on ResetEra spotted the game’s listing on the Australian PlayStation store. With the help of some cursory currency conversions ($1 USD roughly equals $1.50 AUD), users believe they have a ballpark for how much Concord will cost gamers in the United States. According to the Australian PlayStation Store listing, Concord — like with Helldivers 2 before it — will have a Standard and Digital Deluxe Edition that will run players roughly $59.95 and $94.95 Australian Dollars. In layman’s terms...
Monster Hunter Wilds debuted a new look at its scaly new critters last week, but fans are so memorized by an NPC named Gemma the Smithy that they’ve added a “Dating Sim” tag to its official Steam page. Pointed out by @QuirklessStoner on X/Twitter, Capcom’s next Monster Hunter game’s Steam tags include “Action,” “Multiplayer,” and, now, “Dating Sim” (spotted by Games Radar). Tags are user-generated, but the ones that appear first are the most popular among fans. That means players gathered and tagged Monster Hunter Wilds as a dating sim enough to propel the term to be one of its most-used tags. Of course, it’s worth pointing out that, at least as far as Capcom has revealed, Monster Hunter Wilds isn’t a dating sim, and the franchise...

The developer of Hypercharge: Unboxed has announced the indie toy soldiers shooter has sold 50,000 copies on Xbox in five days. Digital Cybercherries, a small UK studio made up of just six people, said it had achieved the sales milestone “without publisher support or Game Pass deal.” “I’m really overwhelmed by the success of our game on Xbox and can’t thank everyone enough for buying the game,” said creative gameplay and marketing director at Digital Cybercherries Joe Henson. “50,000 sales might not mean much in the realm of AAA, but for our small team of six, in a tough time for the industry, with no support from a big-publisher, selling 50,000 on Xbox in only a few days is really a big deal! Thank you again to everyone who has...
Shenmue fans are so desperate for another game in the long-running action adventure series they bought an advertisement in New York's famous Times Square to campaign for Shenmue 4. Fan website Shenmue Dojo launched a campaign on June 4, 2024 to "support the continuation of the series and attempt to spread global awareness to find [developer] Ys Net a potential partner for Shenmue 4." Part of this campaign involved renting a 15-second advertisement on Times Square, which can be seen below, that displayed a handful of characters from the series alongside "#LetsGetShenmue4." "Shenmue fans do some insane things to try and get recognised," an X/Twitter post from Shenmue Dragons said. "Are you watching Sega?" While a 15-second...
It's been a while since I've felt so captivated by such a minimalist game as Arco. A simple but effective revenge tale set against the backdrop of early colonial Mesoamerica, it presents its snappy combat and distinctive worldbuilding with an art style that almost looks like something out of the 8-bit era. Yet the sweeping landscapes are never lacking for detail. And the tale woven across them had me hooked from the start. Nearly all media about the American frontier focuses on the settler experience, so it's refreshing to see that Arco presents a rich, thriving, and diverse Native world as the player's point-of-view, with European "Newcomers" representing a looming, somewhat enigmatic threat. Everything is slightly fantastical, with...
GTA Online is getting its own take on Dog the Bounty Hunter with the game’s next major update. Developer Rockstar Games announced this summer’s update to the hugely popular GTA Online lets players set up their own bail enforcement and bounty hunting business. There’s very little to go on at this point, not even a release date, but already fans are getting excited by the prospect of living out their Dog the Bounty Hunter fantasy within the virtual world of GTA Online. Elsewhere, players will get to “conduct a range of off-the-books enforcement activities” across Los Santon for Vincent. There are new tools and props to create custom Drift and Drag Races in the Creator, and “much more” later this month. Here’s the official blurb, per...
While the sting of E3’s death can still be felt, June remains a massive month for video game reveals, announcements, and world premieres. Things have already begun but the next big swing of the season comes from Summer Game Fest. Unlike the long-running, exclusive-focused streams from platform holders, Summer Game Fest features announcements from a wide range of developers and publishers of varying sizes. The list of attending companies has already been revealed and so we’ve used it as the basis for some predictions. What can you expect to see at Summer Game Fest 2024? Read on for our best educated guesses. The Big Three Sony may have only recently held its own summer State of Play broadcast, and the Xbox Game Showcase arrives in just...
Supergiant Games has released Patch 2 for the Early Access version of Hades 2, which adds more night time encounters, refreshes the UI, and more. Outlined in a Steam post, Supergiant first thanked fans for playing this early version of Hades 2 and for providing feedback which influences patches. This second update arrives less than three weeks after Patch 1 but features dozens of changes, improvements, and bug fixes. Balance changes take up a large part of the spoiler heavy patch notes, available below, but Supergiant has also made larger gameplay changes including the ability to encounter up to one additional Olympain each night, increased the invulnerability duration after Death Defiance, and the option to press and hold to...

A prominent Mortal Kombat 1 dataminer has uncovered evidence to suggest that Ghostface from the Scream franchise is a future DLC character. Following this week’s release of DLC character Homelander and accompanying patch, dataminer @interloko extracted the sounds from the Mileena announcer and found her saying Ghostface twice in among all the game’s other characters. Mortal Kombat developer NetherRealm has yet to announce Ghostface as DLC, perhaps unsurprisingly given there is still one character from Kombat Pack 1 left to come out (Takeda Takahashi). Ghostface, then, is assumed to be a part of the inevitable Kombat Pack 2, but the character's release may be tied up with the ongoing issues surrounding the next movie in the series...
Katsuhiro Harada, chief developer of the Tekken series, has offered a fascinating insight into the making of the fighting game franchise’s characters, specifically their dialogue — and in the process revealed why one Tekken character in particular became popular despite saying nothing at all. Harada tweeted in response to one user who asked about a line of dialogue spoken by the character Reina in the recently released Tekken 8, but the answer went on to describe the process of adding dialogue to Tekken characters, kicking off with Bryan and Yoshimitsu in 1997’s Tekken 3. Before that game, Tekken characters did not speak, but it was felt that with the demise of the arcade scene in the West and a shift toward consoles, there was a need...
Octopath Traveler will seemingly join its sequel on PlayStation 4 and 5 as the game was rated for distribution in Taiwan. As reported by Gematsu, the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee has rated Octopath Traveler for PS4 and PS5 alongside Octopath Traveler 2 for Xbox Series X and S (which was previously announced). A ratings board approving a game is often a strong signal its release is coming, and more than likely soon. Octopath Traveler has unusually complex availability. Originally a Nintendo Switch exclusive, the first game later came to PC and Xbox but not PlayStation platforms. Its sequel came straight to Nintendo, PlayStation, and PC, but skipped Xbox altogether. The confirmed release of Octopath Traveler 2 on Xbox...
Destiny 2 The Final Shape expansion is now available. The Final Shape wraps up Destiny’s long-running narrative by taking players inside the Traveler for a showdown with the enigmatic Witness. This marks the climax of a decade of intricate Destiny storytelling, leaving fans curious about the future. Some are even speculating Bungie has Destiny 3 up its sleeve. For now, if you're looking to jump into the expansion and see what it has to offer, we have found the best deal available for those on PC. Destiny 2: The Final Shape is down to $42.99 at Fanatical (£35,69 in the UK) a trusted steam code seller, and a 15% saving compared to the $49.99 list price. It's not an enormous saving, but it's well worth considering if you were already...
Mortal Kombat 1 now has Homelander as a DLC character, and players are already finding cool Easter eggs with the supervillain. Homelander, from the phenomenally popular Prime Video show The Boys, launches in NetherRealm's gory fighting game with a number of references, but one Brutality in particular was found to include unique dialogue that hat tips an infamous scene. Warning! Spoilers for The Boys Season 2 follow: In The Boys Season 2 premiere The Big Ride, Homelander is introduced to Blindspot, a candidate for replacing the now-deceased Translucent's spot in The Seven. Blindspot is blind but possesses superhuman hearing and agility. Homelander, clearly unimpressed, bashes Blindspot’s ears in, declaring him “just another useless...
Destiny 2 developer Bungie has issued an apology to disgruntled fans who struggled to play The Final Shape expansion at launch. The Final Shape launched on June 4 and Destiny 2 soon ran into significant server issues that prevented players from making progress through the hotly anticipated campaign. Many reported being booted from campaign levels, missing out on crucial cutscenes and losing progress. Bungie tweeted progress updates as it worked to ease the problems, but for many players the night was a write-off. On Steam, the user review rating for The Final Shape is, predictably, 'mostly negative'. "Best 40 bucks I ever spent and best two hours of my life... My favorite part was when Cayde said 'Destiny 2 servers are not available...
I spent way too many hours knocking together my hands on for Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, so I'll just let today's deals speak for themselves. My quick personal pick: that Humble Bundle that includes LEGO 2K Drive Awesome Edition for $15. Even the non-Awesome-edition is well worth that price. My kids and I love that game. In retro news, I'm celebrating the 26th birthday of Panzer Dragoon Saga, a holy grail for Sega Saturn RPG enthusiasts and collectors. Why? This four-discer released at the tail end of Saturn's less than (inter)stellar lifespan in limited numbers, despite deserving a wide audience. All in all, a lovely bleak dystopian setting, unique art design, and a turn-based/real-time positioning battle system that stands up...
Since the launch of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes in late April, some versions of the game have been plagued by quite a few bugs, including one that prevented a key character from being recruited on Switch. Now, after development team Rabbit & Bear prioritized fixing the game's bugs in April, the game's biggest patch yet is now out. Today, in a post on Twitter/X, the team behind Eiyuden Chronicle announced the game's latest patch, which resolves quite a few major problems that sparked player complaints, including issues with story progression and a bug where time spent with support characters wasn't properly counted. The patch is now available on all platforms. The patch also fixes a few things like stability, localization, and...

Blasting monsters in the chops with a Bruce Lee backfist—few things feel more badass than that. So, when FromSoftware said my “hands on” could be literally just that—using my mitts to kung fu the dung out of every shadow under the Erdtree—I was in. The mere idea of testing out Martial Arts in Elden Ring summoned a smirk to my face; three-hours of punch-a-riffic playtime later, it was a toothless ear-to-ear grin. Ever since the Monk class in Diablo III—or the time I found the Hands of God in Demon’s Souls—I've been a big fan of the biff. Particularly in PvP. There’s something hugely satisfying about facing an armed foe thirsty for blood, but you serve them a tall glass of “wa-taaa” instead. It’s also worth noting that I also decided...
Destiny 2, Bungie's long-running live-service FPS, may be getting its "final shape" today, but that shape appears to not include servers that are ready for the clamoring playerbase. As has been the case for every major Destiny expansion since 2014, Destiny 2: The Final Shape has kicked off with hours of error messages and hours-long queue times as players rush to log in. The error message, which reads "Destiny 2 servers are not available" for most, has been met with annoyance from some, while most veterans are merely unsurprised by this longstanding tradition. The issues likely stem from the massive influx of players the game sees with each new expansion, as Steam alone reported more than 200,000 players trying to log on...
Dead by Daylight developer Behaviour Interactive is laying off "up to" 95 of its employees, most of them based in Montreal, in its second round of layoffs this year. In a press release shared by the company today, Behaviour explained that the layoffs were driven by a need to "focus on its historical strengths." In the last five years, the company said, it has grown from 575 employees to 1,300 individuals. However, due to "unprecedented competition," Behaviour is undergoing "multiple strategic changes" to better distinguish its different business divisions. It's doing this by laying off "up to" 95 individuals across multiple departments, 70 of whom are being laid off from the company's Montreal office. In January, Behaviour laid off...
is elden ring dlc free No, get it cheaper at https://www.cdkeys.com/elden-ring-shadow-of-the-erdtree-pc-dlc-steam-emea Shadow of the Erdtree, Elden Ring's 'first and last' DLC expansion, is so close. Whether you're jumping back into the base game before release or starting from scratch altogether, the hype is slowly building. Shadow of the Erdtree will release on June 21 and costs $39.99 -- but if you're on PC, there's already a tantalizing saving on offer to you. Both Green Man Gaming and Fanatical, trusted PC and Steam code sellers, currently have the Elden Ring: Shadow of The Erdtree expansion listed for $35.19 / £30.79 in the UK, alongside the 'Premium Bundle' for $43.99 (down from $49.99). That's at least $4.81 savings and 12%...
As Bungie launches Destiny 2 expansion The Final Shape, fans think one developer has teased Destiny 3 with a series of cryptic tweets. The Final Shape concludes Destiny’s overarching story by placing the player inside the Traveler in a face-off against the mysterious The Witness. It’s the culmination of 10 years of often bewildering Destiny storytelling, and will hopefully provide answers for the game’s player base. But in previous videos, Bungie developers have teased that The Final Shape is not the end of Destiny 2 or even the series, with the developer - now owned by Sony - also working on multiplayer game Marathon. In a series of tweets marking the release of The Final Shape, Bungie executive creative director, Luke Smith...
