EA has announced today that it is revising its outlook for the fiscal year after a slowdown in Global Football net bookings growth, and Dragon Age: The Veilguard missed the company's internal targets by nearly 50%. In a press release, the company said it was reducing its expectations for the fiscal year ending March of 2025 from mid-single-digit growth to mid-single-digit decline. The largest culprit, EA says, was global football, aka EA Sports FC, which it says experienced a slowdown last year in Q3 after two consecutive fiscal years of double-digit net bookings growth. In the press release, EA CEO Andrew Wilson specifically pointed to EA Sports FC 25 as underperforming. But in addition to global football, EA also mentioned that...

It comes with news about all the maps, modes, guns, and changes set to arrive when Season 2 starts next week. Included in the rundown is information about how The Terminator will make its Call of Duty debut with a special limited-time event that comes with unlockable rewards and in-game store skins that look like they were cooked up in a Skynet factory. The Terminator Tracer Pack is the real headline here, as it comes with...
As soon as I fired up the Tempest Rising demo for the first time, I had a good feeling. Watching the opening cinematic, which set the tone with cheesy dialogue from bulky armored soldiers and a reedy scientist, I couldn’t help but smile. The music, UI design, and units seem tailor-made to take me back to high school, when I’d stay up late playing Command & Conquer with my friends, hopped up on Mountain Dew, taco-flavored Pringles, and sleep deprivation. Recapturing the feeling through a new game in the modern era is a blast, and I’m excited to see what else the developers at Slipgate Ironworks have in store at launch and beyond. Whether I was jumping into Skirmish to play against bots with clever AI, or Ranked Multiplayer, playing...

The first time I lost my mech in Synduality Echo of Ada was on my second sortie, and lot of things went wrong. I didn’t buy insurance beforehand and I took way too much stuff out with me because I hit the wrong button, and then I chose not to take a moment to repair right before I got into the encounter that killed me. I made a series of avoidable mistakes followed by a bad decision, and this mech-flavored extraction shooter made sure I lost everything I had for it – so it’s a good sign that, after I was done cursing Synduality and then myself, I was immediately excited to try and get it all back. I have much more to do and see before I am ready for a final review, but that trial by fire will certainly stick with me until the end...

As for Zombies, the trailer shows a first look at gameplay of the new map, The Tomb, as well as an ice staff...

Highly anticipated action role-playing game Phantom Blade Zero, which doesn't look to dissimilar to Black Myth: Wukong, has received a slick new trailer but still no release date. The Year of the Snake Gameplay Trailer, below, shows Phantom Blade Zero's protagonist in a boss battle against Chief Disciple's Fallen Hope, a puppet-themed baddie who fights with a squad of marionettes before moving to strings itself. Fans hoping for a concrete launch date for Phantom Blade Zero are out of luck, however, as Chinese developer S-Game still hasn't revealed when players can get their hands on the game beyond a vague 2025 release window. The studio told Eurogamer Phantom Blade Zero is a "polished title" though, evidenced by the demos shown...

As expected, Mortal Kombat 1 players have unearthed the secret Floyd fight mere hours after guest character Conan the Barbarian went live, but they’re still not sure exactly how to trigger a battle with the mysterious pink ninja. Floyd is the name of a once rumored, now real pink ninja currently available to fight in Mortal Kombat 1. NetherRealm development chief Ed Boon had teased fans over the years by referencing a pink ninja called Floyd, and, back in 2023, Mortal Kombat dataminer TheThiny unearthed text in the Mortal Kombat 1 files that referenced a character of the same name. Only now though, years later, is Floyd actually in Mortal Kombat 1, although the specifics are hazy. Warning! Spoilers for Mortal Kombat 1’s secret Floyd...
Mortal Kombat 1 development chief Ed Boon has taken to social media to reveal a glimpse at upcoming guest character T-1000 Terminator’s Fatality, and tease "future DLC." To mark the release of guest character Conan the Barbarian, Boon tweeted to say Mortal Kombat 1 has now sold over five million copies, up from the four million previously reported. Boon then tweeted a short clip showing one of the T-1000’s Fatalities, which Terminator 2 fans are sure to get a kick out of. We see the T-1000 drive a smashed up truck straight into his hapless opponent, rekindling memories of the iconic chase scene in Terminator 2 where the T-1000 drives the same truck in pursuit of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator and Edward Furlong’s John Connor...
It's a glorious hump day of hot discounts galore. Cases in points: great prices for Bravely Default II, Tekken 8, and Miles Morales Ultimate. I also have a lot of time for The Surge going for a mere 3 bucks on Xbox. Pretty great sci-fi Soulslike, so absolutely sacrifice the price of a coffee for a play of it. In retro news, it's been 16 years since we (repeatedly and hilariously) flung ourselves down hills and into the Hall of Meat in Skate 2. This second entry in the series was a pretty phenomenal upgrade over the OG and cemented the franchise as a proper threat to the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater empire. Needless to say, I'm still jonesing mighty hard for the 'Skate 4' spiritual successor/F2P reimagining. This Day in Gaming 🎂 Aussie...
Developer Warhorse Studios and publisher Plaion have announced the Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 post-launch roadmap, revealing the content players can look forward to after the game's release date in a few weeks. The plan for free and paid post-launch content was detailed in a video, below. Although there is little gameplay footage for some of the bigger content plans, fans still get an outline of how Warhose will support its medieval sequel throughout 2025. In spring, expect free updates that range from a Barbers feature with additional customization options to Hardcore Mode and Horse Racing. Summer will then follow with what appears to be the first paid content drop, Brushes with Death, which Warhorse said follows protagonist Henry...
NetEase Games has revealed the Marvel Rivals Spring Festival event, which adds a handful of new hero skins and a soccer game mode that might look familiar to Overwatch and Rocket League players. The team behind the hero shooter hit announced its latest update with a trailer, below, promising to kick off the new year with the Clash of Dancing Lions game mode as well as the Fortune & Colors Gallery Card customization event starting January 23 at 9am UTC. Let’s not beat around the bush: Clash of Dancing Lions looks an awful lot like Overwatch’s long-running summer event, Lúcioball. The standard version of both modes sees players compete in 3v3 soccer matches with a few unique twists that capitalize on their heroes’ abilities. Both...

Marvel Snap is now back online in the U.S. after it was banned alongside TikTok, and its developer Second Dinner is looking for a new publisher to ensure another takedown doesn't happen in the future. Today, January 21, marks "the start of a new era for Marvel Snap," according to Second Dinner, which posted on X/Twitter to announce the digital trading card game's return alongside the search for a new publisher. TikTok was banned in the U.S. on January 19 over "national security concerns" but was brought back online after around 14 hours. TikTok owner ByteDance owns Marvel Snap publisher Nuverse too, so the game was also taken down but took a little longer to come back online. "Marvel Snap is back online in the U.S," Second Dinner...
Welcome to today's killer savings on all things gaming. Speaking of wall-to-wall murder, the beloved Assassin's Creed series entire can be yours in one fell, heavily discounted swoop. Failing that, cherry-pick the ones from the series that are true must-plays. Assassin's Creed Black Flag for 18 bucks, I'm looking at you, matey. In retro news, I've made a banana birthday cake for Super Mario Kart's 32nd, then I threw the peels out on my closest major highway, as is tradition. My SNES-owning mate over the road got this at launch, and we spent months perfecting our green shellings and R-tapped powerslides in a hectic 2-player grudge match. Dazzled by the sheer beauty of Mode 7 split-screen, we were hooked on the concept of combat racing...
The developer of Days Gone has said it still plans to create “cool s**t” after parent company Sony canceled its unannounced live-service game. Last week, Sony canceled two unannounced live-service games that were in development at Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games. The Bluepoint game was reportedly a live-service God of War game, according to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier. Bend Studio’s live-service game remains unknown. A Sony spokesperson confirmed the cancellations to Bloomberg, adding that neither studio will be closed and that it will work with each to determine next projects. Sony's live-service push has struggled significantly. While Arrowhead’s Helldivers 2 was a breakout hit, becoming the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios game...
Vampire Survivors developer Poncle has outlined the difficulties behind its adaptation, which was originally announced as an animated series but now appears to be a film, headlined by the fact "the game has no plot." Poncle said it is "still working with Story Kitchen on a live action film" in a Steam post despite the adaptation being announced as an animated series in 2023. Regardless, Poncle has now acknowledged just how difficult it will be to get a film right, especially as Vampire Survivors is a mechanically simple action game about defeating hoards of enemies. "As mentioned last year, rather than jumping the gun and make stuff for the sake of making it, we have preferred to wait to find partners that felt right, especially...
As far as video game Easter eggs go, few have anything to do with legendary rock band Pink Floyd. But that’s exactly what Mortal Kombat 1 fans are excited to uncover with the release of guest character Conan the Barbarian this week. Let’s back up for a bit. Mortal Kombat is perhaps most famous for its various ninjas. Everyone knows Sub-Zero is blue and Scorpion is yellow. Ermac is red and Rain is purple (you see what they did there?). But there's no pink ninja, which is where Pink Floyd come in. Floyd is the name given to a rumored pink ninja supposedly buried within the bowels of Mortal Kombat 1, just waiting to be discovered. NetherRealm development chief Ed Boon has teased fans on multiple occasions by referencing a pink ninja...
As Monster Hunter Wilds' February 28 release date nears, developer Capcom has said it's looking into lowering the recommended GPU requirements. Confirmation comes from the official German Monster Hunter X/Twitter account, which issued a follow-up statement that revealed Capcom is also exploring the possibility of releasing a standalone PC benchmarking tool. Capcom recommends an Nvidia GTX 1660 Super or AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT for 30 FPS at 1080p. This minimum requirement is also detailed as requiring an internal resolution of 720p, and upscaling the graphics using DLSS or FSR using the “lowest” graphics setting. Monster Hunter Wilds’ recommended settings also target 1080p and 60 FPS with upscaling and Frame Generation technologies...
Activision has addressed Call of Duty community complaints about cheating in Black Ops 6 and Warzone, and confirmed plans to let console Ranked players disable crossplay with PC players. Cheating has become the hottest topic among hardcore Call of Duty fans following the release of Ranked Play in Black Ops 6 and Warzone with the launch of Season 1 last year. The apparent prevalence of cheaters is considered by some to be ruining competitive multiplayer, and Activision had come under fire for failing to address the problem. Last month, Activision’s Team Ricochet, the division responsible for its Call of Duty anti-cheat tech, admitted not enough had been done to prevent cheating with the launch of Season 1. “After a series of updates...
Daniel Vávra, co-founder of Warhorse Studios, has denied a recent rumor that Saudi Arabia had banned Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 over an unskippable gay cutscene. 2018’s Kingdom Come Deliverance is a story-driven action role-playing game set in the medieval Kingdom of Bohemia. It pitches itself as an historically accurate representation of the setting, but its lack of people of color became a talking point in the months following release. Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, due out February 4, 2025, once again leans on historical accuracy for its return to medieval Bohemia, but players can expect a slightly different experience. Warhorse has said that, because protagonist Henry is embarking on a journey from the countryside to a relatively...
Palworld released in Early Access one year ago today and, to celebrate, developer Pocketpair has revealed its 2025 roadmap includes crossplay, a final boss, and more. An X/Twitter post revealed the "future roadmap" and then asked fans to continue supporting Palworld in its second year, suggesting all of this will arrive in 2025 (and perhaps the first three weeks of 2026). "We've been updating the game since the start of Early Access, and we'll continue to update Palworld as we prepare for the official release," Pocketpair said. Alongside cooperative crossplay and a final boss and "ending scenario," Pocketpair revealed "world transfers for Pals," further ways to strengthen and improve Pals, "various new content such as new Pals and...
Hollow Knight fans have been through the wringer recently, with cryptic X/Twitter activity from one developer sparking rampant speculation that the hotly anticipated follow-up Hollow Knight: Silksong will finally re-emerge at Nintendo’s Switch 2 Direct in April — and potentially even release on Nintendo’s next-gen console as a timed launch exclusive. It all started when supersleuths on the Hollow Knight subreddit noticed that on January 15, co-director of Team Cherry William Pellen had changed his Twitter/X profile picture to a picture of a chocolate cake. Alongside this, Pellen tweeted: “something big is coming. keep your eyes closed tomorrow.” At the time, Nintendo’s Switch 2 reveal was rumored for January 16, and so it proved —...
