Early Black Friday deals have taken over the month of November. If you've been hoping to save on video games during the seasonal sale event this year, there's already been plenty of worthy offers popping up. Battlefield 6 is one that's crossed our radar recently, as its PS5 version has received its first discount of 10% off at Amazon (see it here). This has dropped its price from $69.99 to $62.99, allowing you to save a few bucks on it ahead of the holidays. Battlefield 6 for PS5 on Sale at Amazon In particular, if you're looking for a multiplayer game to jump into over the holidays, we're very big fans of Battlefield 6's. Our 8/10 Battlefield 6 multiplayer review from Justin Koreis said its action is, "expertly crafted, wrapped in a...
Where Winds Meet is an ambitious exercise in maximalism. It’s sprawling world is a vibrant Wuxia love letter filled with over the top characters with infectious charisma who can run up walls and practically fly through the air, grand odes to the beauty of the natural world, and the inescapable violence and dark political sorcery that threaten all of that on a daily basis. Combat is a steady, enjoyable ebb and flow that is full of style and substance, but at a slower and more tactical pace than you might think from just watching it. The collage of stories it tells, both the main saga and the innumerable smaller fables and side affairs, is a turbulent gust of ups and downs both thematically and in quality. But unfortunately, the journey...
One of video games’ greatest rivalries is heating up again with the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. It follows hot on the heels of Battlefield 6, which has firmly marked its territory as not just one of 2025’s best shooters, but as the best Battlefield game in many, many years. But Call of Duty proves itself as one of the biggest FPS games in the world, year in, year out – has Battlefield got what it takes to dethrone Activision’s behemoth this year? While there’s everything to play for when it comes to player numbers and financial success, the real question is: What kind of first-person shooter are you looking for? Do you want your multiplayer tight and competitive, or deeply cinematic? Do you want something grounded in reality...
Battlefield Studios is telling Battlefield 6 players to "keep your ear to the ground" when it comes to a battle royale solo queue option for REDSEC. We spoke with the Battlefield team to learn more about REDSEC and its battle royale, Gauntlet, and Portal modes earlier this week. During our chat, we asked if solo battle royale fans will ever be able to drop into Fort Lyndon without grouping up with others. Design director Justin Wiebe stopped short of confirming whether additional queue options are on the way, but he does want fans to know the BF Studios team is listening. “I would say keep your ear to the ground on the future of solos,” Wiebe told us. Battlefield REDSEC was met with a review-bombing campaign upon its launch late...
The Battlefield Studios team says REDSEC has plenty of time to regain lost ground with fans after the free-to-play offshoot was hit with a review-bombing campaign by Battlefield 6 players at launch. IGN spoke with design director Justin Wiebe and creative director Thomas Andersson earlier this week to learn more about REDSEC, how it got started, and what its future holds. We also asked about the team’s response to the initiative that sought to bring down its user review score on storefronts like Steam. Even as online fan feedback bounces between endless praise and targeted negativity, Wiebe says BF Studios is “extremely passionate and proud” of what it has done so far and is only looking forward to the future. The main thing fans...
If playing through Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater this year had you itching to revisit the original, now's your chance to do so (if you don't already own it) at a discounted price. Early Black Friday sales have arrived, and among Best Buy's is an excellent deal on the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1 for PS5 and Nintendo Switch that's dropped it down to just $19.99. This discount saves you $20 on its usual price of $39.99, so if you've had this collection in your sights, now is the time to make your move on it. Unfortunately, the Xbox Series X version appears to be sold out at Best Buy right now, but we're keeping an eye on it to see if it comes back in stock as we get closer to Black Friday's official kick-off. For...
Arc Raiders' first major update, North Line, launches tomorrow, November 13. Live from 1.30am PT (4.30am ET / 9.30am GMT / 10.30am CET), the new update introduces a whole new region north of the Rust Belt called Stella Montis, described as "cold, pristine, and filled with the remnants of humanity's lost ambitions." Ouch. "Raiders who complete its challenges will recover rare resources, new gameplay items, and potential weapon blueprints hidden in the ruins, revealing the next step in the struggle to reclaim the surface," developer Embark Studios teased. "Access to Stella Montis must first be earned — the tunnels leading to the new region will only open once the global community completes Breaking New Ground. Talking of which...
Surprise! Arc Raiders is cutting the prices of its store cosmetics, and will refund anyone who snapped them up before the new price goes into effect tomorrow, November 13. In an update on the official Arc Raiders website, developer Embark Studios said it has "heard [player] feedback," writing: "We’ve reviewed our prices and made adjustments to lower prices where applicable." Revised prices go live tomorrow, November 13, at 1.30am PT / 4.30am ET / 9.30am GMT). "For any Raider who has already made a purchase on the old pricing, we’ll compensate you for the difference. These Raider Tokens will be refunded back into your account automatically in the coming week." The team stopped short of revealing the new prices, or how big the...
Arc Raiders publisher Nexon has defended the game's use of generative AI, suggesting players should "assume that every game company is now using AI." Arc Raiders, like developer Embark's 2023 shooter, The Finals, declares it uses AI in development, stating on its Steam store page: "During the development process, we may use procedural- and AI-based tools to assist with content creation. In all such cases, the final product reflects the creativity and expression of our own development team." Embark expanded on this with PCGamesN recently, saying Arc Raiders "in no way uses generative AI whatsoever" and stressed that it instead used "something called machine learning, or reinforcement learning, and that's to do with the locomotion for...
For newcomers, diving into ARC Raiders can feel like jumping headfirst into a chaotic storm. Luckily, we’ve put together this beginner’s guide, packed with essential strategies, tips, and tricks, as well as a look at what’s coming next in the game’s ambitious roadmap. Let’s get started. Understanding the Basic Gameplay Loop Before diving into tactics, it’s important to understand the gameplay loop of ARC Raiders. When you drop into a map, you’ll face hostile machines and sometimes aggressive players, equipped either with a basic free loadout or a custom loadout you’ve meticulously prepared. Your objectives will revolve around looting materials, weapons, blueprints, and quest items, all while navigating threats. ARC robots are...
Elden Ring: Nightreign is getting its first meaty, proper, named DLC next month, including new bosses, new shifting earth, and new playable Nightfarers. The DLC is called The Forsaken Hollows, and it's out on December 4, 2025. This comes from a trailer shown during today's State of Play, which showed off a lot of clips from what's to come, albeit without a lot of context. There's a clip showing what seems to be a new Shifting Earth known as The Great Hollow, which opens up a huge hole in the middle of Limveld with temples, towers, and crystals sticking out. We see two new Nightfarers: the first is the Undertaker, which uses strength and faith as her primary stats, and the Scholar, which seems to be an arcane-focused magic-user. There...
Games Workshop has sparked shock and anger among Warhammer 40,000 fans after it killed off two main characters from Space Marine 2 via a brief lore update posted on its website. Last week, Games Workshop announced that Titus, the main playable character from last year’s blockbuster hit video game Space Marine 2, had been promoted with a cool new trailer that set up the next narrative expansion for the Warhammer 40,000 setting, dubbed 500 Worlds. Captain Demetrian Titus, Master of the Watch, is now once again Captain of the Ultramarines Second Company, a position he had already held before he was taken into custody on suspicion of heresy by the Inquisition after the events of the first Space Marine game. In the context of Titus’...
NetEase Games has published an X-Men animated series-inspired trailer for Marvel Rivals Season 5: Love is a Battlefield, revealing Rogue and Gambit as its newest playable characters. The trailer for the latest season of NetEase’s popular hero shooter features a romance theme that puts everyone’s favorite X-Men couple center stage. In typical Marvel Rivals fashion, there’s no gameplay for the mutant heroes here yet, but it does feature a blink-and-you'll-miss-it tease featuring none other than Scott Summers a.k.a. Cyclops. It also sounds like original X-Men ‘97 voice actors A.J. LoCascio (Gambit) and Lenore Zann (Rogue) will be heard voicing the two lovebirds when Season 5 launches November 14, 2025. “This season centers on Mr. and...
As a lover of puzzle games, what can elevate my puzzle-solving experience more than having horrifying monsters breathing down my neck and ready to snap said neck if I fail to solve their puzzle in time? I love these types of games that keep me on edge for hours on end, so Routine is exactly the type of aesthetically pleasing and brutally tense kinds of horror experience I’m always on the lookout for. And with a deeply cool 80’s-tech lunar setting and the beginnings of a story that has me interested in seeing more, I’m willing to overlook some of the things I was less impressed by during the roughly 90-minute demo, like the fact that the monsters searching for me were about as bright as the desks I hid behind and underneath. It remains...
Fortnite developer Epic Games has detailed how it will soon allow third-party sellers to offer "paid random items" within the game's creator-made modes — something that opens the door to loot boxes, fans have said. Back in September, Epic Games announced it would begin allowing third-party creators to sell in-game items in the near future. As of today, creators now have access to the tools necessary to do so, though the feature is not yet live in the game. (To be clear, there's no suggestion that Epic Games will begin offering randomized items for use within the game's main modes, such as Battle Royale, which it develops itself.) An array of blog posts are now available detailing the rules that Fortnite creators must follow when...
Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition was meant to act as a celebration of Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic role-playing game on its tenth birthday. But it turns out that things haven’t exactly gone to plan as the update was met with a backlash on Steam. The $59.99 Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition includes the six official Fallout 4 expansions and over 150 Creation Club items (paid mods). But there’s also a Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition update Bethesda is selling to existing owners of the base game, priced $39.99. While Bethesda points out that this is actually a discount on all the items sold separately, fans have hit out at the pricing for the Anniversary Edition, especially in the context of Fallout 4 itself being a decade old and what the...
Modders are hard at work developing an ambitious expansion that will bring Mexico to Red Dead Redemption 2. Nuevo Paraíso — The Forgotten Frontier is a huge expansion for Red Dead Redemption 2, self-described as a "recreation of the Mexican territory from Red Dead Redemption, completely expanded and enhanced." An official trailer giving us a glimpse of the work in progress, posted to X / Twitter by @videotechuk_, has already garnered over 50,000 views on YouTube. "Redesigned from the ground up with incredible detail while preserving the aesthetic of both games," the modders said, Nuevo Paraíso "meticulously" recreates every town, settlement, and camp to "capture the essence of Mexico, with new vegetation for each region, clean roads...
The Fallout 3 remaster that leaked back in 2023 is still in the works, a new report has claimed. In response to Bethesda development chief Todd Howard’s recent interview with GQ, in which he talked about The Elder Scrolls 6 still being some way off and “some other things we're doing” in the Fallout franchise, VGC reports that a remaster of Fallout 3 along the same lines as this year’s The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is among them. There are all sorts of rumors floating around about potential Fallout remakes, and certainly a growing expectation among fans that Bethesda will turn to its older Fallout video games to keep fans on-side while they wait for The Elder Scrolls 6. Last month, Fallout Day 2025 came and went without...
The thrill of mining and upgrading has been explored countless times in games, but the recent surge of roguelike twists on the formula has kept it feeling fresh. Wall World 2 is the latest to dig into that space, returning to the series’ towering vertical landscapes for another round of satisfying excavation. Each run sends you delving into mines, unearthing resources, upgrading your digging tools or the combat systems of your wall-climbing spider mech, and chasing specific objectives. As you work, hazards emerge and the timer ticks up, until waves of monsters descend, forcing you to pause your mining and defend your mech in tense bursts of action. The core challenge lies in timing and upgrade choices. It’s usually smart to improve...
Hooded Horse, the publisher behind this game, is on an incredible streak. They’ve been consistently delivering hit after hit, with titles like Against the Storm, Cataclismo, and He Is Coming proving nearly impossible to put down. Now Super Fantasy Kingdom joins the line-up, and it’s another one of those “just one more run” experiences that’s hard to quit. Super Fantasy Kingdom is a roguelike city builder where you play as either the human or undead kingdom, trying to improve with each attempt. Every run lasts up to 28 days, and the better you perform, the more glory you earn, unlocking new areas, roads, and permanent upgrades. As you progress, you’ll gain access to stronger starting resources, new heroes, units, and other meaningful...

Former Bungie developer Chris Sides has called out the term "extraction shooter," saying it's a "terrible" genre name because it doesn't tell the player what to expect from the game. Talking on the Shooter Monthly podcast, the former director of product on Bungie's upcoming Marathon didn't hold back, stressing that with so many distinct games potentially falling under the umbrella of "extraction shooter," players will find it hard to know "what you're going to get." "The problem is Helldivers 2 can be called an extraction shooter, but it's not. The genre name is so bad," Sides said (thanks, TheGamePost). "I hate the genre name of 'extraction shooter.' When I was working on Marathon, I was working with marketing, dying to be like, 'Can...
It’s a tough time for Bungie and Destiny 2, with parent company Sony saying the studio has failed to meet its sales and user engagement expectations. In its latest financial report, Sony said it had recorded a 31.5 billion yen (approx. $204.2 million) impairment charge as a result of Destiny 2’s underperformance. That was significant enough to drag down profits at Sony’s Game & Network Services Segment, which includes Sony Interactive Entertainment. Sony chief financial officer (CFO) Lin Tao, expanded on the issues with Bungie in an investor related financial call: It’s certainly been a tough time for Destiny 2 and Bungie, which is working on the delayed extraction shooter Marathon for a release in 2026. In August, Bungie CEO Pete...
Arc Raiders has now sold over 4 million copies worldwide less than two weeks since its release date, cementing its commercial success. Publisher Nexon confirmed the milestone in a glowing press release, which also revealed that the extraction shooter had reached a huge concurrent count of 700,000 players across all platforms. Within a day of its release, Embark Studio's shooter hit a Steam concurrent peak player count of 264,673, making it one of the biggest extraction shooters ever on Valve's platform. That record was smashed again over the weekend when Arc Raiders hit a concurrent peak of 462,488 players according to Valve's official figures. and now we know that, combined with users on consoles, the true figure is closing in on...
As the sun rises on the cobbled market street that ascends from bustling docks on the vibrant Mediterranean waters to the new forum high on the hill above, Anno 117: Pax Romana fills me with delight and civic pride. It took a long time, but I feel like I finally clicked with this series that I've had a little bit of a rocky relationship with, having come in a bit late and at an awkward time with 2205. Its complex economics can still seem to wobble spectacularly off their axis and leave you in a dire failure spiral, but resplendent mechanics for trade, naval warfare, and the blending of cultures offer chances to right the ship. The basic routine in Anno 117 is familiar and effective if you've played other games in the series. You start...
EA and Battlefield Studios have published update 1.1.1.5 patch notes for Battlefield 6 and REDSEC, delivering a variety of quality-of-life changes for weapons and vehicles and, at long last, a fix for the sledgehammer Recon drone glitch. The team behind last month’s new Battlefield game detailed everything arriving in the new update in the patch notes posted to social media today. It comes with a full breakdown for tweaks related to weapon accuracy, vehicle countermeasures, and other bug fixes before update 1.1.1.5 rolls out for Battlefield 6 and REDSEC tomorrow, November 11, at 1 a.m. PT / 4 a.m. ET. Topping the list of changes is a fix for one of the most notorious bugs to arrive since the launch of Battlefield 6: the drone glitch...
Survival action RPG Enshrouded released in Early Access last year and became an instant hit, reaching more than a million players in four days and currently sitting at “Very Positive” on Steam with nearly 75,000 reviews. Developer Keen Games has consistently updated the game in the months since, and its newly released Update 7, titled Wake of the Water, is its biggest to date. If you’re not familiar with Enshrouded, it’s a mix of lite survival, exploration, action RPG combat, and base building in a world you can completely terraform. An all-consuming fog known as The Shroud corrupts everything it touches, and you must scavenge for materials you can use to craft gear to survive the unforgiving environment and the mutated monsters it...
Sometimes, you go into a game not really knowing much about it. I knew exactly three things going into Seven Deadly Sins: Origin: one, it is based on the popular Seven Deadly Sins manga/anime; two, it is an action-RPG; and three, that I could play it on PC or PS5. I looked at it long enough to decide that it could be up my alley, and then dived into its closed beta test blind. And I’m happy I did. Seven Deadly Sins: Origin is an impressive game, even with its gacha mechanics, and I enjoyed hanging out in its world and spending time with its characters. Oh, and the combat? That’s not bad, either. Seven Deadly Sins: Origin follows Prince Tristan of Liones and Tioreh. After stumbling upon a strange cave inside a tree (that’s not a typo)...
The Simpsons' second Fortnite short sets the stage for the game's next update, due tomorrow, which will see giant donuts rain down on Springfield in-game. Released today, "Sugar High" follows Homer as he continues to "improve" reality using an all-powerful Zero Point shard. The short begins with Homer being given some useful exposition from resident The Simpsons scientist Professor Frink, until Homer turns the scientist into new version of Fortnite banana Peely (soon to be available as a skin to battle pass holders). As Homer causes a rain of giant donuts to fall down from the sky — something players will experience this coming week in-game — Springfield's residents turn against Homer. The second half of the short then seemingly sets...
Todd Howard isn’t a big fan of talking about his video games, but in a new interview he has discussed Fallout 4’s divisive dialogue system — and where he thinks it went wrong. Fallout 4 — which turns 10 today, November 10, alongside the release of an Anniversary Edition — broke away from what the post-apocalyptic role-playing game franchise had done in previous entries and gave the playable character a voice. Not only that, but Fallout 4 shifted the traditional first-person, zoomed in camera perspective for dialogue in favor of a dynamic, third-person camera perspective more in keeping with a cinematic, Mass Effect style. While Fallout 4 went on to become a hugely successful release for Bethesda, with 12 million copies shipped to...
