PlayStation Plus Game Catalog Additions for October 2023 Revealed

Sony has revealed the full line-up of PlayStation Plus Games Catalog additions for October 2023 and it's a full-on spookapalooza.

Announced on the PlayStation Blog, a total of 15 games are joining the library: 11 in the Games Catalogue available to Extra and Premium members and four in the Classic Games Catalogue only available to Premium members.

Though many of the titles bring scares to the service just in time for halloween on October 17, perhaps the biggest game this month is Batman-based co-op action game Gotham Knights. Smash hit Disco Elysium: The Final Cut is also on offer though, bringing what IGN called a "masterpiece" to Extra and Premium members.

Gotham Knights may come from the pedigree of Arkham games that essentially redefined what a superhero video game could be, but the spin-off got off to a rough start amid middling reviews at launch. IGN gave it a 5/10 in our review: "Gotham Knights is a co-op-centric caped adventure that made my interest Wayne thanks to poor combat, a transparently predictable mystery, and grueling progression."

Disco Elysium: The Final Cut is a different story, however, with the story-driven isometric role playing game earning the coveted "masterpiece" status at IGN. In our 10/10 review, we said: "The Final Cut elevates Disco Elysium from an already phenomenal RPG to a true must-play masterpiece."

Outlast 2 is also on offer, returning players to the same style of twisted survival horror that made the first game such a hit. This one earned an 8/10 from IGN. "Outlast 2 is a terrifying successor to the 2013 original that keeps the scares coming at a relentless pace," we said.

Adding to the spooky vibes, but with a teen slasher movie feel instead of tense first person survival, The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes is another free game for October 2023. This also earned an 8/10 from IGN: "House of Ashes is Supermassive's best horror game since Until Dawn made it famous."
