About every two weeks a new champion is released, it is always hard to make your mind between buying the new champion or waiting 2 weeks till it becomes apart of the free weekly rotation

Discuss your opinion on the latest Champion and give advice to other LoL payers who are thinking about buying him/her.

Vayne, The Night Hunter

  • Night Hunter (Passive): Vayne ruthlessly hunts evil-doers. She gains bonus Movement Speed when moving toward nearby enemy champions.
  • Tumble: Vayne tumbles, maneuvering to carefully place her next shot. She rolls toward the cursor and her next attack deals bonus damage.
  • Silver Bolts: Vayne tips her bolts with a rare metal, toxic to evil things. The third consecutive attack or ability against the same target deals a percentage of the target's maximum Health as bonus true damage. (Max damage vs. Monsters is capped)
  • Condemn: Vayne draws a heavy crossbow from her back, and fires a huge bolt at her target, dealing damage and knocking them back. If they collide with terrain, they are impaled, dealing bonus damage and stunning them.
  • Final Hour (Ultimate): Readying herself for an epic confrontation, Vayne gains increased Attack Damage, stealth during Tumble, and quadruple the bonus Movement Speed from Night Hunter.

Orianna, the Lady of Clockwork

  • Clockwork Windup (Passive): Orianna’s autoattacks deal additional magic damage every hit, subsequent attacks on the same target within a few seconds will add more damage per hit. This bonus stacks up to three times.
  • Attack: Orianna commands her ball to fly towards target location, dealing damage to targets hit but doing reduced damage for each additional target hit. Her ball remains behind at that location afterwards.
  • Dissonance: Orianna commands her ball to emit a magnetic pulse, dealing damage to units around it. Afterwards, the ball leaves a field behind for a few seconds that speeds up allies and slows enemies.
  • Protect
    • (Passive): The allied champion the ball is attached to gains bonus Armor and Magic Resistance.
    • (Active): Orianna commands her ball to fly to and attach onto an allied champion, dealing damage to enemies it passes through and shielding the allied champion when it arrives.
  • Shockwave: Orianna commands her ball to emit a shockwave after a short delay, flinging affected enemies in the vicinity into the air a set distance towards, and possibly over, her ball.

I have played her, maybe needs a bit of a buff with ratios but she is the best Zoner at the moment using her ball to keep the enemy away, She is amazing at pulling everyone together in a team fight. Nothing wrong with her abilities just the ratios

I would expect she might be a touch OP, but that is balanced by the fact most people wont be able to use her that well, I havent played with her or against her as I don't have a solid internet connection or LoL at the moment, Maybe I will revise my opinion later.

Sounds like a champion that I'll get extremely annoyed with due to teammates using her and not understanding how she works, and then failing

"The 2011 Electronic Entertainment Expo in is full swing, and today we were summoned to Riot Games' booth to check out some of the updates coming to League of Legends. Travis George, lead producer on the game, was there to talk us through three upcoming champions, as well as show of spectator mode. "Our driving belief has been to make a game players would want to pay for," said George, "and we've got a lot of people who are working on more than just champions."

YORICK

Three champions that are in the works are Yorick, the Grave Digger; Leona, the Radiant Dawn; and Skarner, the Crystal Vanguard. Yorick is Riot's take on the necromancer archetype. Similar in concept to Sona's auras or Udyr's stances, Yorick is all about managing three abilities in harmony. Each of his three main abilities summons a ghoul, which dies fast and prioritizes attacking enemy champions. There is an immediate effect when the ghoul is summoned, and each ghoul type has its own special properties. His first, decay ghoul, causes a small blast of damage and slows enemies around him on cast. This ghoul itself has its own aura that slows enemies and will automatically seek out enemy champions to attack.

The other two ghouls, ravenous and spectral, are still being worked on but will grant bonuses to life steal and attack speed respectively. Yorick's passive will increase his stats so long as one ghoul is active, thus making skillful ghoul juggling a must of effective play. Finally, his ultimate is shaping up to be a skill shot that fires in a stright line sending a wave of grasping skeleton hands that roots champions. The skill may be modified so that nearby ghouls will focus on rooted champions, but it's still a work in progress.

LEONA

Since Leona and Skarner aren't as far along in development we didn't get as concise a breakdown. In broad terms, Leona is Riot's answer to the community's requests for a true female tank (sorry Kayle). Her character concept is built around the sun, with several crowd control abilities. These culminate in her ultimate: a global area-of-effect nuke that initially slows champions caught by it in a blinding ray of sunlight. After a moment a beam of solar energy will crash down, stunning and damaging those hit. Skarner is a massive, purple scorpion made of crystal and built to focus down enemy champions one at a time while keeping others at bay. One idea George would share for this champion was the ability to physically pull enemy champions towards Skarner using its tail.

In addition to the new champions, spectator mode was also shown. When doing research into how information should be presented to the player, George and the team at Riot turned to ESPN and other sports broadcasts to see how they formatted their information. At the top of the screen is a large blue and purple score tracker that tallies each side's total team kills, gold, and towers destroyed. The sides of the screen show vertical lists of each team's champions, with icons indicating individual summoner spells and the status of ultimates. Finally, the bottom has a full scoreboard that can be toggled on and off, as well as a chat window and minimap.

SKARNER

To help prevent foul play, spectator mode also has around a minute of built in lag (the exact number is still being tweaked). Riot is also still working on how many players will be able to spectate a match at once, and would only commit to supporting one spectator per match at the moment. These additions, and many more which George was dying to reveal, are on the way and should be arriving before the year's end"

this is just some E3 stuff about LoL found on Reign of Gaming

Yorick Mechanics Preview

Posted by Morello on Tue, 2011-06-14 13:53

Greeting Summoners!

We wanted to give a sneak-peak into Yorick’s gameplay in a quick mini-update.

Yorick is our first champion that utilizes the creation and use of summoned minions. All of Yorick’s spells have varying immediate effects, but each leaves behind a different minion of the appropriate type. For example, Omen of Pestilence creates an AOE explosion at the target location that does damage and slows, and leaves behind a Decaying Ghoul. This ghoul will then slow targets adjacent to it during its lifespan. All Ghouls have a constantly draining life bar that limits their lifespan to a short duration, and enemies attacking them will shorten it even more.

Yorick isn’t some frail, weak Necromancer that just commands minions though – he’s a burly fighter who can dish out punishment on his own. This was done primarily to make his play more consistent (as frail summoners typically have really binary PvP gameplay on if their minions are up or not). Yorick can get into a fight and go toe-to-toe with enemies while commanding an ever-changing army of undead Ghouls.

Omen of Death is his trademark ultimate that brings players back from the dead to exact Vengeance. Yorick can use this Omen on an ally, which creates a revenant of that champion. If that champion is killed while the revenant exists, then the target gains temporary undeath, coming back from the dead at full life which drains on its own rapidly. After the risen ally runs out of health again, they collapse once more.

We really hope you enjoy our new master of undeath in the upcoming patch!
