Nether Spawn Might Need Fixing?

Yesterday me and a friend decided to venture into the nether. When we went through the portal/stargate ( located at the spawn ) we were in the room controled by RMM. Another person who did not speak entered the room as well. All 3 of us were in the land controlled by RMM, but somehow this player was able to kill me and my friend when we were unable to attack him back. I asked Erskew ( a mod ) to check if he was in RMM. He was not in the faction. Somehow he was able to attack me and my friend and yet we were unable to defenend ourselves. When I tried to attack him it said I couldn't attack other players in the area I was in. I called my friend via Skype to confirm that he was unable to damage the other player too. So the point of this thread is to get the attention of someone ( hopefully an admin ) to look into the matter. Was it just a glitch or something else? If anyone can enlighten me on how that happened it would be much aprciated.

it was a bow and i sadly didn't write down his name if I saw his name again it would know it. it started with a b. if i see him on again i'll be sure to write it down.

Bows allow you to damage players whether they are in your faction or not almost anywhere. Not sure if this is a recent factions issue or an option that's been toggled on.
