Fortnite Update 26.30 Adds Alan Wake, Michael Myers, and Jack Skellington Outfits

Epic Games' latest update for battle royale Fortnite adds a number of Halloween-themed outfits including an eye-catching Alan Wake skin.

Alan Wake, who’s set to star in Remedy’s aptly named Alan Wake 2 later in October, will be available in Fortnite’s Item Shop during the Fortnitemares 2023 event, Epic said in a blog post.

The image below shows the the Alan Wake outfit, plus more Waking Nightmare set items that’ll be in the Shop.

Epic also released a teaser trailer for the event which shows off Alan Wake gameplay. We’re getting John Wick vibes from this!

Meanwhile, Disney’s Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King from Tim Burton’s 1993 film The Nightmare Before Christmas, has an outfit coming. This includes the Santa Jack alt Style.

In addition to the Zero Back Bling, Peppermint Parasol Pickaxe, and Jack's Sled Glider, there’ll be two Emotes accompanying Jack Skellington. Jack's Scary Face Emote is built into the Outfit, and there’s the universal Lock, Shock and Barrel's Tub Emote.

And finally, Michael Myers from the Halloween films gets his own outfit.

Elsewhere, Epic signalled the end of support for OS9 on Android devices. Starting with v28.00, players will be required to use OS10 or higher to continue playing Fortnite natively on Android in an officially supported manner. Android OS9 will no longer be officially supported in Fortnite, which means Epic will no longer actively ensure it is compatible with Fortnite, and “the service quality may degrade over time and eventually become unplayable”.

Epic suggested Xbox Cloud Gaming, Nvidia GeForce Now, and Amazon Luna as alternatives for those unable to upgrade to OS10. Currently, these services actively support OS9 Android devices so you can continue playing Fortnite via streaming.

Epic Games shocked the video game industry earlier this month for laying off an eye-watering 830 employees, with CEO Tim Sweeney in the firing line for Epic’s pursuit of the metaverse and costly legal battles. Sweeney admitted Fortnite growth is currently “driven primarily by creator content with significant revenue sharing, and this is a lower margin business than we had when Fortnite Battle Royale took off and began funding our expansion”. Time in third-party games now exceeds first-party, Sweeney said.

Fortnitemares 2023 runs until November 3, 2023, at 2am Eastern / 7am UK.
