I’m always drawn to games that feel like spiritual successors to the late PS2 era. They don’t need to share the same setting – just the same vibe. Echoes of the End, the debut from Icelandic studio Mykur Games, gives me strong Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy energy. At least, it feels like the developers played it and thought, “We really like the idea of lifting people with our minds.” In Echoes of the End, you play as Ryn, a vestige – a wielder of incredibly powerful magic. As you progress, you’ll grow her abilities, using them not only to defeat monsters (both literal and metaphorical) but also to solve a variety of puzzles.
