Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red has reportedly reached a settlement with a number of unhappy investors who had issued complaints after the game's disastrous launch last year. Earlier this year, it was reported that the developer was facing four lawsuits from investors following the turbulent launch of Cyberpunk 2077. As reported by The Verge, CD Projekt Red has now moved to settle the lawsuits, which have rolled into one larger suit, and in doing so appears set to pay out around $1.85 million dollars to resolve the issue. As per a document shared by The Verge, details surrounding the negotiations have now been outlined - though these will likely still need to be looked over by a court. “Members of the class (including the...
Hanging on the wall of the afterlife's corporate break room is a different kind of motivational poster: an encouraging "Hang In There" written cheerfully above a skeleton giving a thumbs up while dangling from a noose. It’s a perfect encapsulation of the grim charm of Have a Nice Death, a side-scrolling hack-n-slasher where you play as the charming grim reaper himself. It’s up to this overworked CEO to literally kick his undead employees into shape – and even in the early demo build I got to play, it’s a roguelike I’m already excited to lose hours in. I had the chance to fight through Have a Nice Death’s first two levels ahead of its Early Access launch in March. Its slick combat and clever theme make for a compelling and surprisingly...
According to results published by IGN's sister site HowLongToBeat, Resident Evil Village has managed to beat out its competition to become the most completed game of 2021. As per metrics published by the site for 2021 (which is based on data submitted by users, and so potentially not representative of the world at large), Capcom's latest entry into the survival horror series was completed more than any other game this year. Despite finishing at the top of the list, Village had some fierce competition. The game narrowly managed to edge out Nintendo's Metroid Dread, which marked a popular return for the Samus-led franchise. Other notable entries to the list included Insomniac's Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart (third) and Hazelight...
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl will soon add crossplay during an upcoming update. Additionally, it has bean teased that voice acting is coming to the game . During a recent Hungrybox stream, art director Diego Hernández spoke about a number of announcements and requested features that are set to be added into All-Star Brawl across the coming months. While a specific date has not yet been confirmed, Hernández explained that crossplay will be entering the game in Q1 2022. The feature will allow All-Star Brawl players who own the game across any of its available platforms- PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S - to jump into battle against their friends regardless of whether or not they are both playing on the same type of...
Worldwalker Games, the studio behind the procedurally-generated RPG hit Wildermyth, has confirmed that the game will be making its way to Nintendo Switch in the future. News of the port was announced by Worldwalker Games founder Nate Austin during an appearance on Fanbyte's Thanks for the Knowledge podcast. While the episode won't officially be released until December 19, the outlet confirmed the announcement in a recent article. Despite the reveal, fans should note that there may still be some wait before they see Wildermyth arrive on the Switch. In its current state, the game is built in Java - a coding base that isn't supported by Nintendo's handheld in any way. Due to this, Fanbyte reports that Austin has said that the porting...
Contrary to what the state of my real-world home might imply, I find something oh-so-satisfying about cleaning up in video games. That makes The Gunk particularly appealing to me, as its linear campaign is packed full of opportunities to methodically transform a muck-covered alien planet back into a pristine and beautiful landscape. As the first 3D game from Image & Form Games (best known for its excellent SteamWorld series), The Gunk’s fairly brief journey doesn’t do a whole lot to expand on its shallow but consistently amusing concept, but it’s still a lot of fun to clear away the goop blanketing its world and uncover the grounded sci-fi story told there. An action-adventure game at its heart, The Gunk puts you in control of the...

Square Enix has had to temporarily suspend sales of Final Fantasy XIV because of the tremendous success of its latest expansion, Endwalker. Writing on the Final Fantasy XIV website, producer and director Naoki Yoshida explained that the sheer amount of people playing Endwalker has far exceeded Square’s server capacity. In order to try and alleviate the long wait times for players logging in, the company has decided to stop selling Final Fantasy XIV to new players to temporarily stem the tide of incoming server traffic. “Players are currently experiencing extremely long wait times due to the dense concentration of play hours which far exceed our server capacity, especially during the peak times, and so we have decided to temporarily...
Passion Republic Games has revealed Kongkrete, a sentient office building that will be a playable character in the studio’s upcoming multiplayer brawler game, GigaBash. Here at IGN we’re able to bring you the first look at gameplay of Kongkrete in the new official GigaBash trailer. Take a look at the chaos in action below. Kongkrete has one advantage over its adversaries in GigaBash’s monster roster; as a building, it can blend in with other structures on the map when standing completely still. This allows the multi-storey terror to gain the element of surprise, which is not something we’d ever expect of a tower block. Enemies that get too close to Kongkrete can be damaged by a burst of Giga Energy that reverses their movement...
Bungie head of HR Gayle d'Hondt is stepping down from her role at the company after more than 14 years effective today, IGN has learned. In an email circulated to employees today which IGN has seen in full, d'Hondt reflected on her time at the company, saying she wants to do "everything in my power to make sure everyone who works here has a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment." She then cited the need for the company's people team to "move forward" with membership "largely comprised of people new to Bungie." "I know that they need to be trusted to be your advocates – not labeled as 'enablers' or seen as company resources who provide bad actors with safe harbor," she wrote. D'Hondt is officially stepping out of her official...

Now that Netflix’s The Witcher has arrived, this wild world of wonder and weirdness is being introduced to a whole new audience. However, executive producer and showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich’s adaptation of this beloved fantasy world isn’t tied to the massively successful Witcher game franchise developed by CD Projekt Red and which established its significance in the zeitgeist. Instead, the Netflix show is based on the books by author Andrzej Sapkowski. And maybe, just maybe, fans of the show are interested in giving the books a try as well now. Well, let us help you with that! Sapkowski has published eight Witcher books since he started writing the series back in the mid-’80s when the illustrious Polish author first submitted...
Activision Blizzard is currently facing serious ongoing allegations of harassment and mistreatment of marginalized workers. To learn more, please visit our timeline as well as our in-depth report on the subject. Diablo II’s last meaningful balance-focused patch arrived on March 23, 2010. That was to be the evermore version of the classic action-RPG. And yet, more than 21 years after Diablo II first launched, that’s not the end of the story. That version of the game - 1.13c to be precise - was the foundation upon which Diablo II: Resurrected was built. That game took the underlying game logic of the original and laid a 3D engine laid over the top, and the goal was to keep the gameplay (almost) exactly as it once was. Now, however...
The cutthroat competition, politics, and warfare in Frank Herbert's Dune novels are a natural fit for strategy games, and Northgard developers Shiro Games are looking to capitalize on that with their upcoming RTS/4X, Dune: Spice Wars. Releasing into early access next year, Spice Wars will have us using guile, military might, and careful management of resources to control Arrakis as a number of different factions representing the Great Houses and other important groups from the setting. The action will take place on a circular map representing Arrakis' North pole, and we'll have the option to roll up a randomized version or use an "official" configuration that is very faithful to the description in the books. While the whole planet...
Ubisoft has announced that it has greenlit the development of a remake of its stealth classic, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell. Announced on Ubisoft's website, the remake will be developed by lead studio Ubisoft Toronto, and will be built from the ground up using the Snowdrop engine, which is the tech being used for The Division games and the upcoming Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora game and Ubisoft's as-yet-untitled Star Wars game. This story is breaking... Continue reading...
I have long pictured my embattled monarchs in Crusader Kings 3 perched on some kind of fancy chair while the affairs of the realm are brought before them for consideration. With next year's Royal Court expansion, I won't have to imagine any more. We're getting full, 3D throne rooms for kings and emperors of feudal and clan realms, a grandeur system that expects more powerful realms to have nicer clothes and more servants, and the return of the inventory system from Crusader Kings 2: Monks and Mystics that lets you nab anything from a sharp new sword to religious relics. And all of these little pieces fit in so well that they feel like they should have been here all along, which is refreshing when some of Paradox's older strategy games...
The contents of Magic: The Gathering's Secret Lair crossover with Netflix’s Arcane were technically revealed a couple of weeks ago, but we’ve got an exclusive look at the final two “hidden” cards that have yet to be shown off. The Arcane Secret Lair is spread across two drops, one that features seven reskinned reprints of existing cards and the other with one of each basic land card, all of which use scenes from the TV show itself for their art. Each drop will also include one hidden card not listed in its contents: Gromp for the reprinted card drop and Summoner’s Rift for the land drop, which are reskinned versions of Spore Frog and Command Tower, respectively. You can click through the gallery above to see both the two hidden...
STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl developer GSC Game World has announced that its upcoming sequel will be supported by a range of linked NFTs when it launches in 2022. While details surrounding the majority of these have yet to be shared yet, the studio has revealed information about one specific NFT which will come will allow the owner to become the “first-ever metahuman” (AKA an NPC in the game). As detailed in a report by The Verge, GSC Game World has announced the STALKER Metaverse, will “use blockchain technology to let the community own a piece of STALKER 2.” While the developer has stated that it will be creating a number of NFTs linked to the game, The Verge's report focuses on a particular token will allow its final owner the...
My first hands-on with an early demo build of Sifu ahead of its February 8, 2022 release confirmed one thing that had been on my mind ever since the very first reveal trailer: that yes, Sifu’s combat is as fun to play as it is to just look and marvel at. It’s just as precise, fluid, impactful, and dynamic as the trailers have portrayed. Its combat is structured similarly to the Batman Arkham games, Sleeping Dogs, and several other games of that ilk, but it became apparent within just seconds after throwing my first couple of punches, kicks, and perfectly timed blocks and counter attacks that there’s a certain authenticity to Sifu’s Kung Fu that feels unprecedented in this space. The demo that I got to play covered the Club level...
343 Industries has once again tweaked Halo Infinite's battle pass challenges in order to further improve the game's multiplayer progression. The new challenge types are: Personal Score – Accumulate personal score in the specified playlist to complete Kills – Earn the required # of kills in a specific...

If you saw the recent footage of Forspoken and thought it was looking the goods, like I did, Amazon has got a deal for you. Impressive introductory discount aside, today is also the time to put your hand up for a fancy coloured DualSense. Sadako Yamamura, better-known as that very creepy girl from Ringu, is invading Dead by Deadlight as part of the franchise's later horror collaboration. Announced earlier today, the new collaboration will be based on Koji Suzuki's novel and the original film adaptation. It will "merge the eerie and melancholic world of Ringu, with the twisted fantasy of Dead by Daylight." Ringu joins a lengthy run of collaborations that includes Halloween, Left 4 Dead, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Resident Evil, and Hellraiser. They feature both heroes and villains from their respective franchises, each with their own unique powers. Ringu was originally a novel released in 1991, with the film adaptation appearing in Japanese theaters in 1998. It...
Inscryption just got a surprise free "mini-expansion" available now in beta. Entitled Kaycee's Mod, it's effectively an endless version of the roguelike deckbuilder that's at the heart of Inscryption's first act. Kaycee's Mod effectively turns the cabin Inscryption takes place in into an endless, increasingly challenging roguelike, effectively extending "Part 1" of Inscryption infinitely. Players can work their way through Challenge Levels, unlocking new cards and challenges as they go, as well as "dev logs" from Inscryption character Kaycee Hobbes that shed more light on Inscryption's story. The expansion is currently in beta and freely available to anyone who opts in via Steam, with instructions on how to do so in the announcement...
An itch I didn’t know needed scratching was a dogfighting flight game where instead of controlling some boring starfighter or airplane, I get to ride a fire-breathing dragon into battle. Century: Age of Ashes flies in to deliver some magnificent scaly reptiles torching each other with fire vomit, which always made me laugh hysterically until someone did the same to me. That part was less funny but still looked cool. It’s a bit short-lived due to the tiny number of maps and a glaring balance problem for its main mode, but this free-to-play, dragon-centric dogfighter largely succeeds in fulfilling the fantasy of riding atop the most legendary of flying beasts. Age of Ashes is a team-based competitive multiplayer game where you take on...
During its Home of Wargamers live event today, RTS publisher Slitherine announced that it's working on a new game in the Terminator universe, entitled Terminator Dark Fate: Defiance. Defiance is the result of a collaboration with Skydance, which began when Slitherine approached them prior to the announcement of the film Terminator Dark Fate. As Slitherine marketing director Marco A. Minoli explains, the publisher had noticed its core strategy gaming audience was a lot of folks in their 30s who had grown up with sci-fi classics, making the territory fertile ground for licensing deals. They already had deals in place for a Battlestar Galactica game and Starship Troopers, so Terminator felt like a logical step. Of course, Skydance was...
Remedy Games director Sam Lake has confirmed that the original actors from the first Alan Wake game will be returning in Alan Wake 2. Ilkka Villi and Matthew Poretta will reprise their roles as the eponymous protagonist, with the former portraying the character's model and the latter portraying his voice. It's interesting to note that Villi also played Doctor Casper Darling in Remedy's other game, Control. Additionally, Lake has confirmed that Alan Wake 2 will be in a third-person perspective, similar to both of Remedy's previous two games, Control and Quantum Break. The game is using the same in-house engine as Control, the Northlight game engine, as well. Alan Wake 2 was announced at the 2021 Game Awards and is set for a 2023...
Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama has said that he thinks remaking his horror classic would be more difficult than remaking a Resident Evil game. During an interview with VGC, Toyama was asked whether the idea of Konami remaking a Silent Hill game would interest him - given that Capcom has seen great success out of its Resident Evil (known as Biohazard in Japan) remakes. “I think it would be harder to remake than Biohazard gameplay as a concept is a little older,” Toyama said. “It’s not an action game where you can just refine the action as in Biohazard. To bring Silent Hill up to current standards or to polish up the graphics, the fans wouldn’t be satisfied." “That’s not what it was about – how beautiful it was. I think you’d...
New screenshots and details from Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin have revealed some of the game's modern-day reimagining of classic characters and locations from the first Final Fantasy game. As revealed on the Square Enix blog, Stranger of Paradise will see you travel to the Western Keep, Crystal Mirage, and The Flying Fortress. These are all locations from the very first Final Fantasy game (although back then the Crystal Mirage was known as the Mirage Tower). On this journey, you'll also come across Astos, the king of the dark elves, who lives in the Western Keep. That's exactly where he was fought as a boss in the original Final Fantasy. Also joining the returning cast is Tiamat, a multi-headed dragon who was fought at...
