The issues surrounding Disco Elysium developer ZA/UM continue, as one ex-developer has apparently filed a lawsuit against the company.
According to a report from Tech News Space, an official website of the Estonian court revealed that the lead game designer of Disco Elysium, Robert Kurvitz, is suing ZA/UM.
According to the report, Kurvitz filed a lawsuit on behalf of his own company, Telomer. The court date is currently set for November 28, but we don't know exactly what the hearing will be about.
Earlier this month, Disco Elysium editor Martin Luiga said key Disco Elysium developers "involuntarily" left ZA/UM, including Luiga, Kurvitz, writer Helen Hindpere, and lead of art and design Aleksander Rostov. The ex-developer said the...
Bethesda has announced that Fallout 4 is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with an official next-generation update next year.
As part of the Fallout 25th Anniversary celebration, Bethesda released a blog post that announced the long-awaited free update that is also coming to PC.
Arriving eight years after Fallout 4 was first released, the update includes a performance mode that allows for higher frame rates, a quality mode for 4K graphics, plus bug fixes and more Creation Club content (Bethesda's official mod support).
The developer didn't reveal a specific release date or window for Fallout 4's next-gen update, nor did it give a full list of features, but it will also likely include console-specific upgrades such as the...
Back in May when I played Sonic Frontiers for my first preview, I came away with an overall positive first impression, but also a feeling that there was still a good bit of work to be done. The game felt buggy, the performance didn’t feel optimized, and there was a ton of distracting pop-in of objects and obstacles floating around in the sky.
Here we are five months later, and I got a chance to go hands-on again with a PC build of Sonic Frontiers, this time for a full six hours to check out the first three islands in their entirety, and while a lot of those same issues that I experienced the first time I played are still present — the pop-in and a handful of minor bugs — it is clear that a lot of work has gone into tightening up Sonic...
For all of the games – including its own sequels – that have come since, the opening moments of 1998’s Metal Gear Solid still loom large. After years of terrible pre-recorded ‘interactive movies’, here, at last, was a game that understood that having live actors on screen wasn’t the key ingredient in giving something a cinematic edge. Metal Gear Solid, if nothing else, understood how to create mood, even if the camera was panning around low-polygon character models. It aimed to feel like a movie, not look like one.
It focused on the small flourishes that mattered: moody music, precise camera angles. As players guided Snake around the frigid location, actor and staff credits played. And then, notably, just after the scripting credits...
Steam has once again broken its own concurrent record as this weekend saw over 30 million users online at one time.
As revealed by SteamDB, 30,032,005 players were online on Sunday, October 23, and the top five games being played consisted of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, Lost Ark, Apex Legends, and PUBG: Battlegrounds. Not all 30 million players were in a game, as many could have been browsing the store, chatting in communities, and more.
Counter-Strike was far and away the winner of the weekend with a peak of around 1.05 million concurrent players. Dota 2's peak was around 750,000, and then there was a decent dropoff as the next highest was PUBG's 442,148 peak.
Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Steam has seen...
Valorant's Episode 5: Act III Battlepass includes a gun buddy called "Corbin's Light" that honors a fan named Corbin who recently passed away after a battle with cancer.
The Valorant team shared the news and Corbin's story in a blog for what's new in Valorant's newest season. The words reveal that the Gun Buddy itself was inspired by design notes from Corbin and his older brother, and it includes the coordinates of a star that was named after Corbin by the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
In honor of Corbin, Riot Games will additionally be making a donation via its Riot Games Social Impact Fund to the C-Squad Foundation, a charity that was started in Corbin's honor before he passed.
If you'd like to add Corbin's Light to your collection...
The launch of Fallout 76 was a disaster.
From unforgivable bugs and data breaches, to collector’s edition items that were the very definition of the words ‘false advertising’, the once lauded series went from controversy to controversy after the launch of its first MMO. Fallout 76, according to most, was dead on arrival.
But four years later, much to everyone’s surprise, vault dwellers are still emerging. And not only are they still actively and obsessively playing, but they’re doing some extremely weird things, from black markets, Shakespeare troupes, and full-time courier services, all the way to roleplaying cannibals and trap camp serial killers. I wanted to get to the bottom of why Fallout diehards are not only still playing the...
Level Up KL is a game expo held annually in Kuala Lumpur. This year’s first post-pandemic show featured a wealth of great games from across the Southeast Asia region, with developers from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Korea, the Philippines and more. The quality of games coming from this region is growing at an amazing rate, with some not-to-be-missed new titles coming this year and next.
Here are a handful of my favourites from the Level Up show floor this year.
Kabaret
With its dark fantasy take on folklore from across Southeast Asia, Kabaret is a visual novel with a rich scattering of minigames and other confections, all presented with an incredibly striking hand-drawn art style and a vibrant soundtrack. While...
As long as Gotham City is still standing, Batman will always be there keeping the forces of darkness at bay. Or will he? Gotham Knights introduces a version of the DC Universe where Batman has apparently been killed, leaving his former sidekicks to carry on his war on crime.
As it turns out, this is hardly the first DC story to show us a world without Batman. There have been many comics, shows and movies over the years to explore what happens when Bruce Wayne is either killed in action or simply gives up being Batman. Here are the important ones every Bat-fan should know - and who knows, maybe some elements here will wind up playing into the events of Gotham Knights as well!
Earth-2 Batman
In the classic DC multiverse, Earth-2 is...
When you look at the current landscape of games today, we have new horror franchises popping up and expanding the genre in terrifying new ways. Meanwhile, classic franchises like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and Dead Space continue to build on their horrific legacy with new entries of their own.
As horror in other forms of entertainment have evolved beyond traditonal zombies and ghouls, games in the genre have expanded with their own grotesque and haunting creatures. With Halloween around the corner, we are compiling a list of our favorite horror games for an IGN Face-Off, and we want to include your suggestions. We've held several IGN Face-Offs covering categories like best Final Fantasy party member, best Star Wars Video game, and...
Capcom recently showed off a hefty chunk of gameplay from the upcoming Resident Evil 4 remake, and fans noticed one key, heartbreaking difference.
In the original Resident Evil 4, there's an adorable pup stuck in a bear trap that Leon stumbles upon. The player can help free the dog from the trap, and the dog will return to help you out in a boss battle a bit later on. In Resident Evil 4's upcoming remake, it seems that's no longer the case.
As you can see in the video below, by the time Leon reaches the trap in RE4's remake, the dog is already dead, leaving you to face the upcoming fight all on your own.
RE fans on the internet are mourning the loss of the iconic canine. Even the well-known "Can You Pet the Dog?" Twitter account...

Apex Legends next season Eclipse revealed their new legend Catalyst. We got the lore trailer revealing Catalyst’s backstory and motivations for joining the Apex games. Just in case you missed it, here’s everything you need to know about Catalyst’s background.
Catalyst comes from the planet Boreas. If this sounds familiar, it’s because it’s the same planet Seer is from. As a brief recap, in Seer’s lore trailer “Metamorphosis”, we saw Boreas’s long history of environmental troubles. Boreas’s moon Cleo was hit by a meteor and shattered it causing it to weaken and in turn, cause Boreas to be subjected to meteor showers, tide disturbances, and temperature fluctuations. Turns out the moon’s gravitational pull is pretty important to a...
The Resident Evil series has experienced a huge REnaissance (or how about REvival?) in the last few years, with multiple new mainline entries and remakes.
With modern remakes of 2, 3, and 4 on the books, some RE fans are hoping to see a remake of Resident Evil: Code Veronica. According to Capcom, however, there are currently no plans to remake the 2000 Dreamcast title.
Speaking to Noisy Pixel, Resident Evil 4 producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi said Capcom's current focus is currently on Resident Evil 4, but if the "opportunity comes, maybe" the company will remake Code Veronica.
Code Veronica was originally released on the Sega Dreamcast in 2000. It was later ported to the PlayStation 2 and GameCube, and saw an HD release on the PS3 and...
After months without a lot of major game releases in 2022, September came out swinging with six new games ranking in the top 20 best-selling games in the US, led by (of course) FIFA 23.
Madden NFL, which came out and topped the charts last month, held it's second place spot according to The NPD Group's monthly charts (which track by dollar sales). It was followed by four new releases: NBA 2K23, then Splatoon 3, The Last of Us Part 1 (the 2022 remake), and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection.
Saints Row, last month's No.2, came in at No.7 in September, and then new release JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle followed.
Despite all these new releases, the overall year-to-date top ten didn't change much, with...
Creating an entire universe of stars and planets is no mean feat, but Hello Games did just that in the 2016 game No Man’s Sky. However, as monumental a challenge as that was, getting the same universe into the comparatively itty bitty memory and hardware budget of the Nintendo Switch is nothing short of galactic.
Condensing the Universe
The Switch continued Nintendo’s trend of finding success within its own market, and has enjoyed those riches with the most third-party games of all its consoles. Many of those ports presented an uphill battle given the Switch’s limited processing power, but with No Man’s Sky the obstacles are a little larger. Despite those reservations, we have been given the full-Monty in either mobile or docked mode...
The Kerbal Space Program sequel is heading to early access in February next year.

Valve has released a new Steam Deck Beta update that allows users to skip the device's opening movie and get straight to playing games.
Detailed in a blog post on Steam, the update is only available if Steam Deck users have opted into its Beta and Preview channels, meaning the features are still being tested but will likely be made widely available soon.
For those taking part, however, pressing the B button during the opening movie will now skip straight to the Steam Deck's main menu, shaving vital seconds from the boot time (or 90 minutes for the user who set Shrek to play as their opening movie, below).
The update also added auto-correct for Store and Library search results, support for the Games to Play Together feature, the...
HoYoverse, the company behind Genshin Impact, Tears of Themis, and others, has released a new animated Genshin Impact trailer called "Scenery and Sentiment: Mondstadt Edition" that showcases Genshin Impact's first region.
In it, notable NPCs from Mondstadt are shown briefly throughout, living their lives in and around the windswept town. HoYoverse shared that this trailer was produced by Danish animation studio, Sun Creature Studio, clearly noting it's different from their animated series project with Ufotable.
It's unclear whether this trailer is meant to be a scenic advertisement for Genshin Impact, a continued piece to celebrate the game's second anniversary, or something more. At the very least, it's possible to imagine HoYoverse...

After the incredible success of the Resident Evil 2 remake in 2019, it was a no-brainer for Capcom to revitalise more of its older games to better suit a modern audience. With every step forward, though, the quality gap between past and present becomes less striking. And now it has finally arrived at the progenitor of the successful, over-the-shoulder Resi playstyle, it’s hard to imagine how much an all-time classic can be improved beyond a fresh coat of paint. But from what I’ve played of Resident Evil 4 so far, Capcom seems less interested in creating an RE2 remake-style gigantic leap. Instead, it appears more laser-focused on making one of the best games of all time even better.
During my play session, which began at the very start...
How do you improve on one of the finest survival horror games ever made? That's the question facing the team at Capcom, many of whom worked on the original Resident Evil 4, as they tackle the remake for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC,
"After [17 years], we too have gained a lot of knowledge about making games. We're now able to make games that are enjoyed on both a deeper and a broader level even when it comes to elements like controls and storytelling. We thought that adding this knowledge to Resident Evil 4 would make it an even more enjoyable title," says Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, who was the lead designer of the original game's cinematics and is now a producer of the remake. "That's why we decided to tackle Resident Evil 4 with the...
The Batman: Arkham games sit alongside Insomniac's Spider-Man as the best comic book games ever made. With the Arkham series, Rocksteady Studios blended excellent freeflow combat, top-tier voice performances, and an inspired rendition of Gotham City to create an unforgettable collection of action-adventure superhero games.
While Gotham Knights isn't part of the "Arkhamverse," it's release inspired us to create this chronology of the Batman: Arkham games for those interested in playing (or replaying) the best Batman games around.

Capcom has announced that a demo for Resident Evil Village's upcoming third-person mode will be available tonight, October 20, and will include 60 minutes of gameplay to try out in the new mode or in first-person for comparison.
Announced during the latest Resident Evil Showcase, this demo will be released at 4pm PT/7pm ET. If you live in the BST or AEST timezone, that translates to October 21 at 12am BST/9am AEST.
Included will be a small glimpse of what owners of the Resident Evil Village's Gold Edition or Winters' Expansion DLC can look forward to when both are released on October 28, 2022. And yes, the entire game will be playable in third-person. For those worried about a simple rework, Capcom had previously stated that...
A brand-new Resident Evil 4 Remake trailer was revealed during today's Resident Evil Showcase, showing Ashley Graham and Adam Wong, as well as providing a further glimpse of the gameplay on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
While the trailer doesn't directly spoil Resident Evil 4's reveal, it strongly hints at many of the mysteries behind the Los Plagas and the plight of the villagers in Spain. The trailer also features updated versions of Ramon Salazar, a familiar villain from the original Resident Evil 4, as well as Ashley Graham.
Ashley Graham, as you may recall, is the president's daughter in the original telling of the story. She's obviously older in this version, with a more modern hairstyle. On the villain side, Salazar...
It looks like Overwatch 2 players have found new, hidden areas in old maps which may hint at future content in the hero shooter’s pipeline.
Players, such as TikTok user @lowendwibs, have found inaccessible sections in established maps that have been added in Overwatch 2. As of this writing, this includes King’s Row, Havana, and Rialto, all of which now have new, unused areas on the map that you can't reach through normal gameplay.
However, if you play a match on any of these maps and watch the replay, you can move the camera around freely as you spectate. IGN has verified in-game that doing so will allow you to find and explore unused sections of the map added in Overwatch 2.
These new additions could point to a few things: they...
Konami is bringing back Silent Hill in a big way.
As part of the new Silent Hill transmission, Konami announced multiple Silent Hill games and projects including a full remake of Silent Hill 2. Read on to see everything that was announced today in the Silent Hill Transmission.
Silent Hill 2 Remake
As rumored, Bloober Team is developing a full remake of Silent Hill 2 with the help of original Team Silent artist Masahiro Ito and composer Akira Yamaoka. The remake was announced for PlayStation 5.
The remake will retell the story of James Sunderland who is looking for his dead wife, who sent him a mysterious letter from the town of Silent Hill. Konami and Bloober are promising a fully reworked game using new technology and delivered...
Everyone has a lot to say in the comedy-FPS High on Life, the upcoming first-person shooter from Justin Roiland and his Squanch Games development studio. Especially the four talking guns. One of them, the shotgun-like Gus, is voiced by Curb Your Enthusiasm costar and renowed comedian JB Smoove. Hear Smoove in action as Gus in the gameplay montage video above, which also includes commentary from Roiland, who discusses what it was like to land Smoove for this game.
For some more new gameplay that shows some continuous action, don't miss our exclusive 12-minute gameplay video from earlier this month. And take a look at the zany enemies of High on Life in the concept art gallery below.
