Summoners War: Awakening Comic Expands On the World of the Mobile RPG

Skybound Entertainment is returning to the world of the popular mobile game Summoners War. Skybound is teaming with publisher Com2uS to release a second spinoff comic called Summoners War: Awakening. Summoners War: Awakening is a direct sequel to the original Summoners War: Legacy comic. Season 2 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Delayed

Season 2 of both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 have been delayed while Activision makes several changes in response to player feedback. As reported by Eurogamer, Call of Duty announced the two week delay in a tweet (below), meaning Season 2 will now launch on February 15 instead of February 1. "Our studio teams have been making several changes based on what we heard from our player community," Activision said. Tomb Raider Reemerges as PowerWash Simulator DLC That Lets You Clean Lara Croft's Mansion

All of that time away has taken its toll on the Croft Manor, and now the iconic Tomb Raider locale needs a scrub down. To restore Lara Croft's lavish dwellings, PowerWash Simulator will crossover with Tomb Raider later this month in a free DLC for all players. Halo Infinite Director Joseph Staten Leaving 343 Industries to Rejoin Xbox Publishing

After today's announcement that Microsoft will lay off 10,000 people, details on how internal restructuring will hit its gaming divisions continue to emerge, with Halo Infinite's 343 Industries among the studios impacted. According to Bloomberg, Joseph Staten, a Halo veteran who began his career with Bungie in 1998, will transition from his Halo Infinite creative director role and rejoin Xbox's publishing division. Staten joined the team at 343 Industries in 2020 as the campaign project lead on Halo Infinite and later saw a title change to Head of Creative. Report: Ubisoft CEO Apologizes to Employees Over 'Ball in Your Court' Comments

Ubisoft is facing turbulent times financially and in-house, and CEO Yves Guillemot was forced to reckon with recent comments he made shifting the blame to the staff. After cancelling three unannounced games and delaying the release date of Skull and Bones for a sixth time, Guillemot told employees “the ball is in your court” to help get the $3 billion company back on track. Xbox Hit by Layoffs on Anniversary of Activision Blizzard Announcement

Amidst news of a mass layoff of 10,000 people at Microsoft, a number of employees at Xbox Game Studios The Coalition, 343 Industries, and Bethesda are learning their jobs are being impacted. According to reports at Bloomberg and Kotaku, a number of developers at the three Xbox studios were informed today that their positions were being elimintated. In total, 878 positions are being impacted immediately in Washington across all of Microsoft, while further layoffs are expected through March. Callisto Protocol Outsold in Debut Month in US by Mario Kart After Reportedly Missing Sales Targets

The NPD Group has released its analysis of US game sales for the month of December and for the full year 2022, and while the full-year results aren't shocking, December specifically has some interesting tidbits in the game sales charts that shed a bit of light on how well two supposedly "underperforming" games have done lately: Callisto Protocol, and Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope. John Wick Director to Helm Rainbow Six Movie Starring Michael B. Jordan

John Wick director Chad Stahelski will direct Michael B. Jordan in the Tom Clancy sequel Rainbow Six as a follow-up to 2021’s Without Remorse. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jordan will reprise the role of Navy SEAL and CIA operative John Clark, who has appeared in numerous Tom Clancy novels, first in the Jack Ryan series, then in his own spinoffs like Without Remorse and Rainbow Six. The movie will adapt from the same novels that Ubisoft has based its video game series on. Leaked Suicide Squad Screen Appears to Reveal Live Service Game With a Battle Pass

It seems Rocksteady's upcoming Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League could feature live service elements including a store and a battle pass. This information comes from a leaked screenshot of the game four months ahead of its release. VGC reports that the leaked image originated on 4chan, and the outlet says it confirmed with its own sources that the image is real. Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty might be an action game, but after playing through brand new areas for about five hours, I went away realizing that it innovates on the exploration loop in Soulsborne games more than anything else. While the game’s challenging combat is as stellar as you would expect from a Team Ninja game, it is the Morale Rank system that truly feels like it’s shaking things up. Activision Blizzard Says NetEase Declined an Offer to Extend Publishing Deal in China

Overwatch 2 and World of Warcraft publisher Activision Blizzard has claimed NetEase declined an offer to extend its publishing deal in China. As reported by Reuters, Blizzard China published a statement to Weibo claiming it contacted NetEase earlier in January with an offer to extend their deal by six months, allowing gamers in the country to continue playing the likes of Overwatch 2, Hearthstone, and other Blizzard titles. NetEase declined the offer according to Blizzard China, however, meaning the discontinuing of these game services will go ahead as planned on January 23. Silent Hill 2 Remake: World Exclusive Deep Dive Interview

After years of speculation, it was finally announced on October’s Silent Hill Transmission livestream that the Silent Hill series will get a multi-project reboot. While the showcase revealed several games and even a new movie, it began with the news that the first title in the return of the series would be a full remake of Silent Hill 2 by Bloober Team, the Polish studio known for games like Layers of Fear and The Medium. Black Myth: WuKong Launches Summer 2024

Developer Game Science has announced that its Chinese folklore RPG Black Myth: WuKong will be released during summer 2024 in a wild new trailer. The bizarre two-minute short film (below) shows a young rabbit trying to install the game on an out of date PC before it finally falls apart and they're forced to buy another. Marvel Snap Will Get Its Long-Awaited PvP Battle Mode in Late January

Marvel Snap will be getting its long-awaited PVP Battle Mode on January 31, assuming there are no "last minute issues." The news was revealed on Marvel Snap's official website, and developer Second Dinner's associate design director Kent-Erik Hagman also took to Unity Blog to further detail what players can expect. John Carpenter Hints at an Upcoming Dead Space Film, But He's Not Involved

Horror film legend John Carpenter really, really loves Dead Space. The director of The Thing, Halloween, and Escape From New York has talked about it extensively in the past. A League of Legends spinoff title for PC and consoles is reportedly in the works. First reported by Polygon, the leak comes from South Korea's games rating committee. According to the leak, the game is titled Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story and has been rated for PC and console. The game could apparently star Sylas on a quest to save Demacia. Demacia is one of the kingdoms in League of Legends, ands has often been depcted as a kingdom in turmoil. Sylas is a champion who was added to League of Legends back in early 2019. A classic turn-based RPG in the style of Dragon Quest is not exactly the first place my mind goes when it comes to thinking of game genres that would pair well with the action-heavy world of One Piece, but as One Piece Odyssey proves, it’s actually kind of a great fit. The Straw Hats make for one hell of a party of RPG characters; Eichiro Oda’s one-of-a-kind art style lends itself well to filling the world with fantastical and amusing creatures; and the over-the-top nature of battles from the actual manga and anime gives plenty of material for some of the coolest (and funniest) special attacks I’ve seen in any turn-based RPG. Striking Distance Studios is under fire for reportedly leaving developers out of The Callisto Protocol's credits. Now, IGN's own reporting corroborates the accounts that key names were left out of the game's credits, and IGN has heard that issues with crediting on games directed by Glen Schofield date further back than just The Callisto Protocol.
