John Romero, the renowned video game designer known for his pioneering work on the likes of Doom, Wolfenstein 3D, and Quake, released a memoir last year that is now getting adapted for the silver screen.
As reported by Deadline, two projects are in the works based on Romero's autobiography Doom Guy: Life in First Person. The first is a documentary created by award-winning Canadian filmmaker Rob McCallum, and the second is a scripted drama series about the life and storied career of video gaming's original rock star.

Minecraft's highly anticipated Tricky Trials update arrives as version 1.21 on June 13, 2024.
Revealed on the Minecraft blog, Mojang confirmed all platforms, meaning PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Nintendo Switch, mobile, and more, would receive the update simultaneously.
The update's main addition is the mysterious, massive copper trial chambers which are full of "a slew of new challenges, mobs to do battle with, rewards to claim, and blocks to build with. Bethesda director and executive producer Todd Howard has called once panned Fallout 76 "sneaky popular" now that it's crossed 20 million players.

As reported by Gematsu, the surprise release doesn't include just one version of the boss rush mode but two. The Gayming Awards 2024 date has been set for June 25, where it will once again showcase the best in LGBTQ gaming on the occasion of Pride Month.

Cyberpunk 2077 will get the long promised FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 (FSR3) support at some point, developer CD Projekt Red has confirmed.
Speaking to IGN, the developer confirmed FSR3 — the latest iteration of AMD's supersampling technology which increases the frame rate of a game — would still be released despite announcing it no longer had a dedicated Cyberpunk 2077 team.

MultiVersus has finally launched fully after the open beta (which many didn't realize was an open beta) shut down in June 2023, and while its return has attracted more than 100,000 concurrent players on Steam alone, it's also sparked many complaints.
Data from player-tracking website SteamDB shows MultiVersus — the Warner Bros. brawler where Gizmo from Gremlins, Rick and Morty, Lebron James, Batman, Arya Stark, Bugs Bunny, Shaggy, Tom and Jerry, Jason, and more can all fight — hit a 24 hour peak of 114,515 concurrent players upon its May 28, 2024 launch day. It's a strong start for the free-to-play brawler on PC (Sony and Microsoft do not publish player numbers for PlayStation and Xbox.)

A high-profile video game cheat maker has been ordered to pay Activision over $14 million in damages and hand over its domain name.
The United States District Court of the Central District of California granted Activision’s motion for default judgement in the civil case against EngineOwning, which sells cheats for a number of Call of Duty games as well as Counter-Strike, Battlefield, and Titanfall. Activision is awarded $14,465,600 in statutory damages and $292,912 in attorneys’ fees, and the court issued a permanent injunction to enjoin EngineOwning’s “unlawful conduct” and to transfer its domain name, www.EngineOwning.to, to Activision.
