Star Wars Outlaws is out later this month, and Ubisoft has revealed the road map for those who buy the season pass.
In a blog post, Ubisoft confirmed that the Star Wars Outlaws season pass will include content divided into three release windows. On launch day, season pass owners will gain access to a character pack and the previously confirmed Jabba's Gambit exclusive mission. Star Wars Outlaws' season pass previously received controversy earlier this year when Ubisoft revealed that it was locking the Jabba above's Gambit mission behind the Season Pass. However, Ubisoft insisted that Jabba the Hutt will be available to all players, not just season pass holders.
More interestingly, Ubisoft confirmed that two DLC story expansions will...
Elden Ring players have discovered a risk free way of instantly defeating one of Shadow of the Erdtree’s main bosses, Rellana, the Twin Moon Knight.
The exploit works without ever setting foot in her arena, by travelling to the Scadu Altus area before visiting the legacy dungeon Castle Ensis. Spotted by X/Twitter user Ziostorm, players can defeat Rellana by simply casting long range spells while standing in contact with the boss chamber’s rear fog gate.
“Turns out, you can cheese Rellana by going to the rear fog wall by Highroad Cross and using Flame of the Fell God,” they wrote, referring to an Incantation which shoots a ball of fire. “It will travel into her arena and explode.”
Though perhaps not the way FromSoftware intended...
The early 2010s were an incredible time to be a fan of indie games, with classics like Limbo, Bastion, and Super Meat Boy paving the way for others to follow. One of my favorites from that period was the original Volgarr the Viking – it’s a 2D platformer that looks and plays like a 16-bit Sega Genesis game, but one informed by the ways in which the genre had evolved since the 90s. It was brutally difficult, but always fair, and that careful balance made it incredibly satisfying to overcome its challenges. So it pains me to say it, but that balance is all out of sorts in its 2024 sequel, Volgarr the Viking 2. This is a game that recaptures a lot of what made the original so great, but adds very little to iterate on those ideas, and the...

Like a Dragon fans have grown excited after series publisher Sega filed a trademark for something called Yakuza Wars.
The trademark was filed in Japan on July 26, 2024 but only made public today, August 5, as spotted by X/Twitter user Wario64. Like a Dragon developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is revealing its next game sometime between September 26 and September 29 at Tokyo Game Show, with many fans now believing Yakuza Wars to be it.
The trademark reveals nothing beyond the name though, not even if Yakuza Wars is a video game property.
Fans have still run away with the prospect, of course, with Bestgamer on Reddit even discussing its potential as a collaboration between the Like a Dragon series and another Sega franchise Sakura Wars...
Quite possibly the most promising Star Wars title in years, Star Wars Outlaws reimagines the Lucasfilm space opus as a huge open-world extravaganza, tasking players to strap on the boots of a rugged smuggler who must traverse, shoot, sneak and steal their way across the galaxy in an epic odyssey that takes place between Star […]

Welcome back to the deals pile. Nothing but the finest wares actually worth owning, going for way less than RRP. Bit of a thin week for new releases, so I'm digging up the past + discounts. That said, I'd zero in on the seriously reduced Don't Starve Together, Dead Cells, GTA Definitive, and Borderlands 3. Hundreds of hours of fun for not much monies at all!
In retro news, I'm celebrating the 30th birthday of Earthworm Jim, a run 'n' gun platformer that's as iconic as it was bizarre. I can vividly recall being blown away by its slick character animations, as they were on par with the high [Agra]ba[h]r set by Disney's Aladdin from the year previous. Better yet, EJ oozed a unique weirdness that provided left field shifts in...

It’s fair to say that the notion of remastering or remaking a title of any renown inhabits the same mind space as creating a new title from scratch. Sure, while you effectively have a source material of sorts to start from, versus nothing for an entirely new title, you still must wrestle with that same […]

As detailed by PlayStation.Blog, the currently untitled Darksiders project was given a brief teaser trailer that takes place in a fiery "chamber impossibly old." In this chamber, there are "three colossal stone heads, suddenly set ablaze with otherworldly flames. The Charred Council awake, and roar a single word in unison: Horseman."

Following the news that Bungie laid off 220 people, details have reportedly been revealed about the company's future, including that it isn't currently working on Destiny 3, that it will shift its focus from larger expansions to smaller updates for Destiny 2 that may be free, and that a Destiny spin-off was canceled.
Bloomberg spoke to ten current and former Bungie employees who asked not to be identified, and they "described a company that grew too fast and tried to develop too many projects at once, spreading resources too thin rather than prioritizing its chief moneymaker, Destiny 2."
Instead of Destiny 3, Bungie Placed a Big Bet on Payback
While there may be many who believed Bungie was hard at work on Destiny 3, especially...
Following a quick Open Beta period, Riot Games has surprised fans by officially launching Valorant on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.
Valorant Console is now available to players in the United States, Canada, Europe, Japan, and Brazil and promises to bring the "same uncompromising, competitive experience that we've provided PC players for years: a precise, team-based, tactical shooter."
As previously discussed, cross-play will not be available between PC and console players as Riot Games wishes to "maintain Valorant's renowned standard for competitive integrity." PlayStation and Xbox players will be able to play together, however.
While that may not be the best news for some, Riot Games has reassured fans that their Friends...
The next instalment in the long-running Call of Duty series has been revealed — Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. The June Xbox Showcase and Black Ops 6 Direct gave us a deeper look into the upcoming title, with new details on the story and gameplay features never before seen in the series.
One of the most talked about features is Omnimovement, Black Ops 6’s new movement system which allows players to sprint, dive, and slide in any direction and chain together combat moves. Omnimovement will be present in multiplayer, campaign, and zombies, fundamentally changing gameplay across all modes.
The campaign takes place in the early ’90s, around the time of the Gulf War and the fall of the Soviet Union. It will see the return of some familiar...
Alongside Elden Ring becoming the best-selling game of June 2024 thanks to its Shadow of Erdtree expansion, Kingdom Hearts Integrum Masterpiece's arrival on Steam launched it from #399 to #3 month over month.
As reported by Circana's Mat Piscatella, Elden Ring has returned to the top of a monthly best-selling list for the first time since May 2022, and, as we mentioned, that was due to the huge success of Shadow of the Erdtree. For some context, Shadow of the Erdtree sold a massive five million copies in just its first three days on the market.
As for Kingdom Hearts Integrum Masterpiece, its astonishing jump was because it was only available on Nintendo Switch via Cloud before it came to Steam in June. For those unfamiliar, this...

To keep you clued in on all the...

Thank your own personal deity—possibly Melinoë—it's Friday! Depending on where you are, there's a fair-to-certain chance that it's going to be a mighty chilly weekend, so you'd best get some indoor entertainment sorted. Personally, I'd go make a quick (and free and easily cancellable) 30 day Amazon Prime Gaming account to secure the many free games on offer. Otherwise, there's my usual list of Cheap Stuff Worth Getting laid out below.
Meanwhile, in retro news, I'm commemorating the 43rd birthday of a true arcade cab classic, Donkey Kong. This one, I cannot confess to playing at launch—I wasn't old enough to stand, or not poop myself, let alone grip a stick and go leaping/hammering barrels to save Pauline. To say gamers were taken by...
Bungie misrepresented its finances and had significantly overextended itself when Sony acquired the studio for $3.6 billion in 2022, former workers claimed in a new Game File report published in the wake of Wednesday's layoffs.
It was apparently bad enough that at least one source described as a "well-connected former worker" went so far as to claim that Bungie faced dire consequences if the acquisition hadn't happened, saying that the "alternate history is insolvency."
Their comments paint the picture of a studio that was struggling despite the success of Destiny and Destiny 2 due to supporting too many projects and other problems. Following the Sony acquisition, Game File's sources claim Bungie repeatedly missed its financial...

Star Wars Outlaws creative director Julian Gerighty isn't interested in entertaining "bad faith" conversations about the upcoming Ubisoft game's protagonist, Kay Vess.
As previews for the upcoming open-world title rolled out this week, Gerighty, in an interview with The Washington Post, touched on the discourse that some are pushing on social media that Kay isn't "attractive enough." His response? Don't give that conversation attention.
"Kay is meant to be approachable, a petty thief who ends up barreling through this story, making bad decisions and centered with a lot of humor, humility, and toughness," Gerighty said. "That's what's important to me. And she's beautiful, come on."
"It makes no sense to me and it's not worth...
When I booted up Spectre Divide for the first time, I fully expected to play yet another team-based competitive shooter that would probably be fine but likely wouldn’t elevate above that. After all, the teaser trailer provided no other information other than Spectre being a mash-up of Valorant and CS:GO. But I am so glad to be wrong and to be incredibly overwhelmed by the novelty Spectre Divide brings.
The first thing that stood out to me was the art style. Cel-shading in FPS games is definitely not something you see every day, and some may argue it could be distracting, but the shadowing and details you can see in the world are actually very clean and bright so you don’t get overwhelmed.
I will say that the only downside to the...
Borderlands is a series known for its flair for the unhinged. But in reflecting on the looter-shooter’s long, gorey, and downright wrong history, there are several moments that stand out even within a series where derangement is the status quo. Twelve of them, in fact. Here’s Borderlands’ most outrageous moments, in order of ascending wildness.
12. Attending Claptrap’s Birthday Party (Borderlands 2)
Claptrap is a pretty divisive character in the Borderlands community. Some find him hilarious, while others just think he’s annoying (they’re both right). But regardless of where you stand on his comedy chops, it’s pretty undeniable that he’s one of the most depressing characters to spend time with. The wheeled trashcan often goes out of...
Amazon has announced the August 2024 Prime Gaming lineup (Prime Gaming is a benefit of Amazon Prime membership).
Highlights include SteamWorld Heist, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Loop Hero, and various Tomb Raider games. 22 games are set to hit Prime Gaming in August, with new games added each Thursday throughout the month.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is the well-received 2016 action role-playing game from Eidos-Montréal and sequel to Deus Ex: Human Revolution. IGN's Deus Ex: Mankind Divided review returned a 9.2. We said: "Layered, intelligent, and impeccably designed, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided's gameplay rewards curiosity and creativity."
Unfortunately the Deus Ex series is on ice after franchise owner Embracer reportedly canceled a new...

It’s kind of an odd shift for a sequel to go from an outer space setting to a nautical one, but SteamWorld games have never shied away from being kind of odd. In fact, it’s their whole thing. There are direct connections between the silly swashbuckling story of SteamWorld Heist 2 and the original from 2015, but those take a while to show up – instead, much of Heist 2 feels completely separate as it gives you control of a submarine and a crew full of goofy robots in a colorfully cartoony ocean. This adventure takes place on a surprisingly large overworld map that’s packed with so many tough and tactically deep turn-based missions and lighter side activities that burning through them all took me around 40 hours.
The plot that ensues is...
