On June 6, 2025, 1047 Games launched Splitgate 2. Now, less than two months later, the developer is about to “unlaunch” it. It's also taking Splitgate 1 offline, and laying off 45 employees.
Today, 1047 revealed its plans to temporarily wind down support on the game it just released so the studio can go heads-down on what it says will be a complete overhaul of Splitgate 2. The game will remain playable during this time, and will still receive its promised Chapter 3 update and some bug fixes, but other than that, Splitgate 2 as we know it is done.
…That is, until early 2026, when the studio promises it will return with “big, sweeping changes.”
While all this sounds pretty dire, it might not come as a surprise to Splitgate 2 players...

Ubisoft has announced "lower-than-expected" results for its latest financial quarter, and blamed the newly-relaunched Rainbow Six Siege X.
Assassin's Creed Shadows, meanwhile, has continued to perform "in line with expectations", and recently passed 5 million unique players. Ubisoft has to date not provided an exact sales figure for the game, which is also offered as part of its Ubisoft+ subscription service.
In a statement, Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot described the quarter as featuring "mixed results".
So what went wrong? Ubisoft has pinned the blame on "temporary but signficant disruptions" in player spending within Rainbow Six Siege X, its newly-relaunched shooter that it describes as having faced "technical pricing issues"...
Supermassive Games, developer of Until Dawn and the Dark Pictures Anthology horror series, has said it will lay off up to 36 staff in a fresh wave of redundancies.
In a statement published to the studio's social media this afternoon, Supermassive also confirmed a delay to its long-awaited sci-fi horror project Directive 8020, which will now arrive in "the first half of 2026".
Announcing the studio's job losses, Supermassive said it had been forced to adapt its team structure to "better align" with "a challenging and ever-evolving environment" in which to make games. The cuts follow an earlier round of redundancies in March 2024, when the developer said it would shed around 90 workers in a similarly-worded statement.

Ready or Not's console port finally released last week, and it's already surpassed one million sales. Combined with sales of its early access PC version, which released in December 2023, the game has now topped 10 million units sold.
"When we launched Ready or Not on PC, it took about 36 days to reach 1 million units sold," said VOID CEO, Julio Rodriguez. "On console, it took about 3.6 days. I’m incredibly proud of the team and what we’ve accomplished together. It’s a huge moment — and one we don’t take for granted."

The next four Everdark Sovereigns will arrive as part of a "new Everdark cycle" in Limveld, starting on July 31. The four bosses up for upgrades this time are Tricephalos, Augur, Equilibrious Beast, and Fissure in the Fog.
For the past Everdark Sovereigns, FromSoftware has adhered to a weekly release schedule. Square Enix has announced it will end Windows 10 support for its MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV this October.
The publisher confirmed in a statement that support will end on October 14, 2025, coinciding with Microsoft's own end-date for security updates and support.
"You will likely be able to play FINAL FANTASY XIV on Windows® 10 systems even after the end of support," the company said. "However, after we discontinue support, we will as a general rule no longer be able to provide support for problems arising as a result of the operating system."
Square Enix said it may responded to requests for technical support regarding Windows 10 issues after the end of support, but this will be limited, on a case-by-case basis, and not guaranteed...
