Fans React To Elden Ring Movie News: 'We’re In The Best Hands Possible with Garland'
It's been mere hours since a live-action Elden Ring movie was revealed to be in the works, and already, fans are making their views — both positive and negative — known. Debates have sprung up on all aspects of the production, from the decision to make a film, not a TV show, the choice of its writer and director — Alex Garland directed Ex Machina and Civil War — and whether the story, which is considerably convoluted, should be focused on the Tarnished, the demigods themselves, or something else entirely. A Song of Ice and Fire writer George R. R. Martin, who wrote Game of Thrones and helped create Elden Ring's world, is attached as a producer on the movie, as is Vince Gerardis. "Sigh why? No one ask[ed] for this keep FromSoftware...

There’s even a trailer: The patch, meanwhile, adds additional support for Creations so Creations up to 2GB can be uploaded, as well as numerous fixes for quests, vehicles, UI, and the Shattered Space DLC. Experience the Life of a Time Traveler in Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time
Pro tip: When a fossilized dragon asks you to follow it, you say "Yes." That's how you start your brand-new life — lives, even — in LEVEL5's new simulation RPG, Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time. Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time introduces you to a mysterious island that's covered in ruins. A gaping void in the center of the island suggests a disaster of some kind erased the civilization that thrived there a thousand years ago. You must travel through time between the past and present to determine the nature of the calamity and solve what happened to the island's citizens. But what's the rush? A mystery that's laid fallow for a millennium doesn't need a quick solution. Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is a warm...
Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon Review in Progress
The first item I ever picked up in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon that wasn’t clothing or weapons was smut. I know what you’re thinking. “Will, you degenerate, of course it was smut. We know all about you, bro.” Listen. I didn’t know it was smut. But I learned real quick. I found it in what looked like the guard’s break area after I was busted out of my cell. I don’t remember what happened next; there was a drawing of a very pretty woman, and then I read the phrase “love apples” and blacked out. But I’m getting ahead of myself – let me back up a bit and tell you about my experience with this fun but familiar open-world RPG so far. Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is a reimagining of Arthurian myth. When his homeland is overwhelmed...

Relic has announced Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Definitive Edition, a modernized version of its 20-year-old RTS classic. Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Definitive Edition, due out on PC via Steam and GOG later this year, presents the original gameplay as fans will remember it, but optimized for modern hardware. IGN has an exclusive interview with design director Philippe Boulle where we run through all the Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Definitive Edition details — it’s well worth a read if you’re into Dawn of War in any way. Fans have long-called for a revival of the Dawn of War franchise, and the first game in the series, which is considered one of the best if not the best Warhammer 40,000 games ever made, is a potential...
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Developer Saber Interactive Answers IGN's Burning Questions on Siege Mode, Dreadnoughts, and Future Seasons
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has just revealed Siege, its upcoming take on the classic Horde mode. There’s a debut teaser trailer, screenshots, and initial details on how it will work. But, as a big Warhammer 40,000 and Space Marine 2 fan, I wanted to know more. So I sent over a list of questions to Tim Willits, Chief Creative Officer at developer Saber Interactive, to answer my burning questions. I got some interesting replies. As well as digging deep into how Siege mode will actually work, Willits confirms the ability to call in a Dreadnought in Siege mode, and explains why Space Marine 2 is sticking to three-player co-op max. We also chat about the future of the game itself, which is set for more content beyond year one. Read on...

Reveal highlights included the revival of Relic’s much-loved Dawn of War real-time strategy series, a surprise Master Crafted Edition of the first Space Marine, a teaser for Space Marine 2’s upcoming horde mode, now called Siege, and the announcement of Boltgun 2. There was plenty more confirmed during the show. So, in case you missed it, here’s a rundown of everything announced at Warhammer Skulls 2025, with enough trailers to satisfy even the grumpiest of Inquisitors. Warhammer Skulls revealed the world premiere of the sequel to Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, Boltgun 2. The retro first-person shooter is set for launch across PC, PlayStation 5, and...

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 publisher Focus Entertainment has revealed Siege, the final name for the hotly anticipated Horde mode coming to the explosive third-person action shooter as part of Patch 8. At the Warhammer Skulls 2025 showcase, Focus and developer Saber revealed the teaser for the free Siege update, which brings an endless new PvE game mode alongside two new cosmetic DLCs for season pass owners on June 26. Here’s the official blurb: IGN has confirmed, via an exclusive interview with Tim Willits, Chief Creative Officer at developer Saber Interactive, that the Dreadnought shown in the trailer is a part of Siege gameplay. The Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War Definitive Edition Interview: 'I Am Going Back and Fixing Typos I Made 20 Years Ago'
Dawn of War is back! Relic Entertainment has announced Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War Definitive Edition, an updated version of its beloved real-time strategy game first released over 20 years ago. As a huge fan of the original 2004 game, I just had to find out more beyond the debut trailer, below. So, like a well-trained Inquisitor, I tracked down design director Philippe Boulle and quizzed him on this most welcome of grimdark revivals. Boulle started at Relic in November 2005, and his first project was Dawn of War’s second expansion pack, Dark Crusade. He went on to work on Dawn of War: Soulstorm, Dawn of War 2, Dawn of War 2: Chaos Rising, Space Marine, Company of Heroes 2, Dawn of War 3, and Age of Empires 4. In short, he’s been...
Original Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine Gets Surprise Master Crafted Edition on PC and Xbox Game Pass — but There’s No PS5 Version
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine is getting a surprise Master Crafted Edition, launching June 10 on PC and Xbox Series X and S, and straight into Game Pass. No PlayStation 5 version was mentioned by publisher Sega, which retains the rights to the Relic Entertainment-developed original third-person shooter. This is described as the “definitive edition” of Captain Titus and the Ultramarines’ fight against the Ork hordes. Space Marine was first published by THQ back in 2011 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. The Master Crafted Edition was developed by SneakyBox, and has a 4K resolution, modernized controls, an interface overhaul, improved character models, and remastered audio, which includes over 100 new voice lines for the Orks...
Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy Is the Next cRPG From the Developer of Rogue Trader
Owlcat Games has announced Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy, its next cRPG following the well-received Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. Revealed during the Warhammer Skulls 2025 showcase, Dark Heresy lets players become an Inquisitor, one of the Imperium’s heresy-hating enforcers. Here’s the official blurb: Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy is due out on PC (Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store) and PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. No release window was mentioned. Meanwhile, Owlcat confirmed future content plans for Rogue Trader, including the second major story expansion, Lex Imperialis, and Season Pass 2, which adds two additional DLC expansions and an appearance customization pack. Lex Imperialis thrusts players into the iron grip of...
Fortnite Tops iPhone Chart Following App Store Return
Fortnite's return to iPhone and iPad has seen the game storm to the top of the App Store charts — at least in the U.S., where Epic Games' battle royale is finally available once again. The return of Fortnite to the iOS App Store this week follows a five-year hiatus, during which Epic Games and Apple fought a lengthy legal battle. Fortnite was booted from the iPhone App Store worldwide back in 2020 after Epic Games deliberately added its payment system into the game that bypassed Apple's usual 30% cut. Five years and more than $1 billion of missed revenue later, Fortnite is finally back — and its alternative payment system remains in place. More than a day later, Fortnite continues to sit at the top of the U.S. Top Free Games chart...
What Elden Ring Nightreign's First-Time Director Learned from Miyazaki – IGN First
The first developer name that comes to your mind when I say "Souls" series is very likely Hidetaka Miyazaki, the director of the Dark Souls series, Sekiro, Bloodborne, and of course, Elden Ring. But Nightreign marks the first time in the series the director baton is being passed to another: Junya Ishizaki. During my visit to FromSoftware's office in Japan, I got to sit down to talk with Ishizaki-san about what it's like sitting in the director's chair, dig into some of the more unique design decisions Nightreign brings to the table, and learn a little more about the origins of this Elden Ring spin-off. In a previous interview you had said that you brought the idea for Nightreign to Miyazaki-san who gave you the green light. Was the...
Witcher 3 Special Edition Xbox Controllers Are Now Available
Microsoft has just released two new Witcher 3-themed Xbox controllers that look pretty awesome. Both Witcher 3 Special Edition 10th Anniversary Xbox Controllers are available now, exclusively from the Microsoft Store, in standard ($79.99) and Elite Series 2 ($169.99) versions. The reason for the release is because The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt turns 10 years old this month, which is pretty wild, at least for this fan of the game. Witcher 3 Special Edition 10th Anniversary Xbox Controllers The two controllers look very similar, with the same Geralt of Rivia-inspired etchings on them. The wolf medallian Geralt wears around his neck is etched into the center of the controller. The blog post announcing the controllers says they "also feature...

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown Review
I never expected kicking a member of the Foot Clan to the curb before skateboarding over to pick up a pizza as an orange-clad Ninja Turtle would work just as well in a tactics game as it does in a classic beat-em-up, but Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown cleverly translates the approachable pick-up-and-play action and slim scope of the team’s arcadey adventures like Turtles In Time into a compelling, if barebones, turn-based tactics game. While missing some of the necessary communication that make the best strategy games tick, it’s still a blast to raise some shell as New York’s bodacious band of brothers. Trim and concise, Tactical Takedown doesn’t waste time on an ooze-spilling origin story to get its story moving...
The Last of Us Part 1 Finale Question Definitively Answered by Series Creator, Upending Years of Fan Debate
The Last of Us creator Neil Druckmann has answered a key fan question behind the first game's memorable finale, and revealed information that has affected some fans' views of Joel's big moral choice — and left other saying they'd have prefered not knowing. Warning! Spoilers for The Last of Us Part 1 follow. Joel's decision to save Ellie, or rather, to murder a load of doctors who were planning to use Ellie's immunity to create a cure that could have saved mankind, has always been shrouded in a level of ambiguity. Within the original game, as well as The Last of Us' HBO TV adaptation, it was never explicitly confirmed whether a cure could actually have been possible, and if so, whether it actually would have worked. Because of this...
Lies of P Director Explains U-Turn on Difficulty: 'We Wanted to Make Sure a Wider Audience Could Play the Game'
Lies of P's upcoming DLC, Overture, will introduce difficulty options for the very first time. As a "Soulslike" game, Lies of P can be punishingly difficult, especially for inexperienced players perhaps attracted by Lies of P's dark story and setting. Director Jiwon Choi said at the time, however, the team didn't think Soulslike games should have difficulty options and it shipped without any. Now it seems Neowitz has changed its mind, and confirmed the change was informed after the studio listened carefully to feedback from players. “We wanted to make sure a wider audience of players could play the game,” Choi told VGC. "We have a lot of feedback from customers, and from our developers. So by making development adjustments and...
Star Wars Andor Actor Joins Calls for Battlefront 3 as Battlefront 2 Popularity Spikes
Renewed calls for a fresh Star Wars Battlefront game have been given a boost by an actor from critically-acclaimed TV series Andor. The past month has seen fans flock back to 2017's Star Wars Battlefront 2 — generating the game's best player count on Steam in years, despite support from developer DICE ending a long time ago. Now, Andor's Muhannad Ben Amor, who plays the heroic Wilmon Paak, has taken to social media to help campaign for a fully-operational sequel. "Star Wars gotta give us Battlefront 3 ASAP," Amor wrote on Instagram (thanks, Comicbook), revealing he had played Battlefront 2 for 469 hours. That's great kid, but don't get cocky. "Grew up with Battlefront 2 — been a veteran since day one," Amor continued. "Let's HOPE...
Silent Hill f a 'Completely New Title' That 'People Who Have Never Played the Series Can Enjoy,' Konami Says
Silent Hill f is not a sequel to any of the existing Silent Hill games. Instead, much like Silent Hill 2, it will offer a standalone story, "independent from the series." That's coming from publisher Konami itself, which finally confirmed on X/Twitter that the latest instalment of the horror series — which is usually, if not always, based in a sleepy resort town on east-coast America — will be "a completely new title" that "people who have never played the Silent Hill series can enjoy." This approach isn't entirely new for Silent Hill, of course. While Silent Hill 1, Silent Hill 3, and Silent Hill Origins are all connected, other games — with Silent Hill 2 being a particularly notable exception — have less tangible links to the town...

Borderlands 4 Boss Randy Pitchford Addresses ‘Real Fans’ Tweet Controversy: ‘Nobody Likes Being Taken for Granted and It Was Not My Intent’
Randy Pitchford has addressed the backlash to his controversial Borderlands 4 $80 ‘real fans’ tweet after someone ran it through a Handsome Jack AI. Pitchford sparked the backlash in responding to a fan who had expressed concern about the prospect of paying $80 for Borderlands 4, saying: “if you’re a real fan, you’ll find a way to make it happen.” Here’s the exchange: "Randy, this game better not be 80 dollars. Don't take that risk, a lot of gamers aren't gonna pay 80 dollars and feed this notion of constant increase of the price tag. You are the CEO, you have some say with the price when it comes to your publisher." And here's Randy Pitchford's response: "A) Not my call. B) If you’re a real fan, you’ll find a way to make it...
Dystopian Google AI Video Generator Generating Fake Fortnite Clips, and It's Tough to Tell the Difference
Google has launched an advanced AI video generation tool capable of creating Fortnite gameplay clips that look almost indistinguishable from the real thing. Veo 3 launched this week and has already raised eyebrows for its dystopian ability to create life-like video clips from simple text-based prompts and include realistic-sounding audio. Other generative AI programs, such as OpenAI's Sora, have been doing similar for some time — but the ability for Veo 3 to include lifelike audio really is a remarkable, if chilling, step forward. Veo 3 users are still testing out what the tool is capable of, but within two days have begun producing Fortnite gameplay with a fake streamer commenting over the top. The quality is good enough that...

This Day in Gaming 🎂 In retro news, I'm celebrating the 28th birthday of Fighters Megamix, the Sega Saturn's answer to Smash Bros before that was even a thing. Sega of the '90s was especially 3D fightin' obsessed, so the concept here was simple—smoosh a bunch of brawlers from the Virtua Fighter series, Fighting Vipers, and other games into one punch-a-rrific package. I remember...

Helldivers 2 Sees Player Count Surge Alongside Heart of Democracy Update
The Heart of Democracy update for Helldivers 2 has marked out a new battlefield on Super Earth itself. And it looks like Helldivers are jumping back on to help hold the line against the Illuminate invasion. Earlier this week, the Illuminate officially launched an invasion of Super Earth as part of the Heart of Democracy update in Helldivers 2. After a long build-up involving a mobile black hole, Super Earth has become a zone of conflict, and Helldivers are dropping into various cities to assist with the defense efforts. There are quite a few more Helldivers dropping in now, too. A quick look at SteamDB shows the player count rebounding back up alongside the Heart of Democracy update's drop, currently sitting at a 24-hour peak of just...

To start, can you describe what it's like working at FromSoftware and getting to work on such highly acclaimed titles like Elden Ring and Nightreign? Takuya Miyazawa - Game and Combat Designer on Nightreign: I, myself, previously a huge Souls fan. I'm a big fan of these games and what the company's made, so it's a huge honor to get to work on such titles and as well as the fun of creating these games. I do feel a little bit of pressure and responsibility from the fans who enjoy these games as well, so thank you. Going into Nightreign, there are a lot of really subtle differences...
