Today's State of Play included a brand new trailer for the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater remake that showed off more of the game, a closer look at at the revamped Snake vs. Monkey mode featuring Ape Escape, and... something to do with camoflage?
The trailer focuses on Snake being sneaky, as he is, crawling through areas unseen, in disguise, hiding in bushes, and eventually engaging with the enemy head-on in multiple of the game's infamous boss fights.
However, the end of the trailer is a little sillier. It focuses on the previously-announced revamp of the Snake vs. Monkey mode that includes the monkeys from Ape Escape, with Snake trying to capture them by surprise. When this mode was revealed, we learned that Xbox...
In a haunting new trailer at today's Sony State of Play, we learned that Silent Hill f's fog of fresh horrors is imminent: it's coming out on September 25, 2025.
In a deeply upsetting new trailer today, we saw a longer, darker look at what's in store for us in Silent Hill f. We saw the main character, Hinako Shimizu, and her friends in Ebisugaoka living normal, peaceful lives, just before a mysterious fog envelopes the town and makes everything real weird.
Creepy red flowers bloom. Heinous, jerky dolls start chasing Hinako around and trying to rip her apart. Her friends don't seem to be doing so hot, either. There's gore, there's violence, lots of paranormal, and Hinako proving remarkably efficient with a crowbar.
Silent Hill f was...
Capcom's elusive new game, Pragmata, has resurfaced at Summer Game Fest, this time with a new release window and a little more info on what the heck this game even is.
As demonstrated by the cheeky ending of the trailer, Pragmata is indeed a real game. You play as an astronaut man who's come into some unexpected enconter with alien creatures, including a little girl whose name is actually DI0367, but who the astronaut dubs Diana.
Though she's small, Diana's far from helpless - she has some sort of magic-techno-hacking powers that enable her to help out her astronaut friend as they fight off the weird robot-alien creatures trying to "neutralize" them. At the end of the trailer, it's briefly revealed that Pragmata seems to take place on...
Developer CarX Technologies has made a name for itself over the last decade with series like Drift Racing, Highway Racing, and Rally. In 2022, they branched out with CarX Street, an open-world racing game with a level of freedom they’ve never had before. Then they brought it to Steam in 2024, where it was wishlisted by over 600,000 people. And now, they’re bringing it to consoles — it arrives June 18 on Xbox Series X/S and later this summer on PlayStation 5.
CarX Street takes you to the sprawling Sunset City and its suburbs, where your goal is straightforward: prove you’re the best racer in the city. There are racing clubs scattered throughout the city, each with their own identity. For example, Union Underground is a crew of...
Blue Mammoth Games' popular free-to-play fighting game Brawlhalla may be notable for its many pop culture guest stars, but the game also has a mythology and cast of characters all its own. One of those characters now takes the spotlight in Brawlhalla Tales: Nix, an original graphic novel spinoff.
Head down to the slideshow gallery below for an exclusive 10-page preview of Brawlhalla Tales: Nix:
Brawlhalla Tales: Nix is written by Brawlhalla veterans R.J. Jost and Matt Woomer, with Jost also handling the art. The creative team also includes colorist Roshan Kurichiyanil and letterer Lucas Gattoni.
Here's Dark Horse's official summary of the graphic novel:

Hi, everyone. I have a message for you, from one Elden Ring: Nightreign player to another: please stop beelining chapels at the start of each game to collect flask charges.
I'm not the only one saying this! Fellow Nightfarers in the community have been sharing this PSA over the last few days to express frustration at what's becoming an annoyingly common habit when queuing with random players in Nightreign.
Essentially, what's happening is this: in Nightreign, every map is riddled with a handful of small churches or chapels that contain a free upgrade to your healing flask, adding an extra charge. This is genuinely great! It's good to go after these! However, as players have gotten more comfortable with the gain and learned about this...

As players dive deeper into Elden Ring Nightreign's launch content, more discoveries are being made and Nightlords felled. Some Nightfarers would like a little bit of assistance, though, when it comes to knowing what's dropped on the ground.
One post on the Nightreign subreddit that picked up a bit of traction is asking for more weapon info when items drop on the ground. Clearing a camp or point-of-interest in Nightreign tends to result in a decent amount of loot to sort through, and so the idea is that you'd like some more details to quickly scan over.
As commenters have pointed out — and I went in to verify with a quick run — you are able to see a weapon class type by hitting R3 for details. This also provides info on Weapon Arts...
Deltarune, the multi-chapter sequel to 2015's indie smash hit Undertale, is currently blowing up on Steam thanks to the release of Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 this morning after years of anticipation.
The game itself has been out in some format since 2018, when creator Toby Fox posted a series of cryptic tweets before dropping an innocuous download entitled "SURVEY PROGRAM." That download turned out to be the first chapter of a new game, Deltarune, the name of which is an anagram for Undertale. After a cryptic introduction, the player controls a teenager named Kris who, with their school bully Susie, is dropped into a mysterious Dark World and tasked with saving its citizens by a goat-child named Ralsei.
Deltarune's second chapter...

Epic Games has detailed its technical specifications for the new version of Fortnite coming to Nintendo Switch 2, and revealed that mouse support would arrive in an imminent patch.
As you'd expect, this fresh version of the hit battle royale will arrive with an improved frame-rate (now 60FPS) and better resolution (2176x1224 when Switch 2 is docked, or 1600x900 undocked).
The new Nintendo console also allows for a greater draw distance, so you can pull off more of those sweet long range shots, as well as clothing physics and higher-quality textures, shadows and water rendering.
Replays, which are not available in the Switch 1 version of Fortnite, will finally be available for you to peruse and see which horrible person killed you...
Epic Games boss Tim Sweeney believes small teams will soon be able to use AI prompts to make video games on the scale of Nintendo masterpiece The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Speaking to IGN at Epic’s State of Unreal 2025 event (where CD Projekt revealed a stunning The Witcher 4 tech demo), Sweeney said AI prompts will be “a fundamental part” of game engines, and will result in “entirely new genres of games invented that weren't possible or practical before” without it.
“Every significant advance in technology has led to the rise of new games,” Sweeney explained.
“I remember 3D gaming just became possible and then Doom and Wolfenstein introduced the 3D shooter. The battle royal genre itself only became possible when you had...
A Switch 2 Edition for No Man's Sky will be available alongside the launch of Nintendo's new console, developer Hello Games has announced.
This version will come as a free upgrade for current No Man's Sky owners, and offer a range of improvements such as full multiplayer, high-res texture support, and improvements to resolution and frame-rate.
No Man's Sky on Switch 2 also offers cross-save and cross-play, so you can pick up exactly where you left off on Switch 1 — or elsewhere.
Hello Games has said the Switch 2 version of its successful sci-fi adventure survival game is the product of 12 month's work getting to grips with Nintendo's new hardware, after receiving development kits a year ago.
This new version arrives alongside (and...
Surprise! Unknown Worlds has dropped a new 10-minute Q&A about all things Subnautica 2.
The video interview between community manager Donya Abramo and creative producer Scott MacDonald gives us few more details about what's coming up in the action survival game, including confirmation that we're going back to a silent protagonist. There was also an emphasis on assuring fans that rather than being a co-op game that lets you play solo, Unknown Worlds has specifically designed Subnautica 2 to be a single-player adventure with optional co-op (yes, there is a difference!).
As for just how big Subnautica 2 will be? "The playable map size will be bigger than what we originally launched in early access on the original Subnautica, and even...
The developer of Balatro has confirmed the reason his viral hit poker game doesn't have any microtransactions or ads is because seeing games with those types of things "makes me want to put my computer in the dishwasher and set it to pots and pans."
"The honest reason I don't have microtransactions/season pass/ads/100 DLCs/etc in Balatro isn't just about the ethics of those practices, but because when I play other games that have those things it makes me want to put my computer in the dishwasher and set it to pots and pans," Localthunk posted on Bluesky.
"Like, I get why people add those things, but you're shooting your UX in the foot if players are having their first impression and also being bombarded with a bunch of nonsense that...
The developers of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 have essentially said "it’s what the Emperor would have wanted" and made a big weapon change in the game not for balance reasons, but because it’s just really, really cool.
Saber Interactive released patch notes for the Siege Update (Patch 8), which is available now on the Public Test Realm (PTS) for PC players, and in those confirmed it had extended the weapon arsenal in PvE to add the Thunder Hammer for the Bulwark class.
Thunder Hammers are perfect for bonking the crap out of Tyranids and Chaos Marines with wide, swinging attacks that have great reach, but the weapon type is limited to the Assault class. The Bulwark class is also great, with its huge shield and overpowered...
Kinetic Games' terrifying ghost investigation game, Phasmophobia, is getting the Hollywood treatment.
Horror specialist Blumhouse — the credits of which include Five Nights at Freddy's, The Conjuring, and M3gan — has partnered with the UK developer to create a feature film adaptation. At the moment, nothing else is known, so we're not yet sure who'll be writing or directing it, let alone starring in the movie.
“It’s a big moment for the whole Kinetic team, and the start of something really exciting,” said Daniel "Dknighter" Knight, director of Kinetic Games. “We never could’ve imagined the incredible heights this game would reach when it launched five years ago, and we’re so thankful to our amazing community for the lasting impact...
It’s a corker of a week for gaming discounts (and very imminent console launches). Basically, your backlog is about to get even heavier. From experimental indies to sprawling open worlds, the savings this week are spread across all platforms like butter on warm banana bread. And with some of these titles dipping to historic lows, it’s not a bad time to fill in the gaps in your shelf (digital or otherwise).
This Day in Gaming 🎂
In retro news, I'm celebrating the 16th birthday of Infamous, a PS3 exclusive that I refuse to inexplicably capitalise as inFamous or inFAMOUS (no wait, just did...God damn it). My overriding memory of this super sandboxer from Sucker Punch was that it was edgier and more mature than its Sly Cooper stablemate...
I don’t think I’ve hungered for a game this year as much as Holstin. This survival-horror immediately caught my eye with its gorgeous pixel art, perspective-shifting gameplay, and eerie Polish setting.
So I felt super lucky to get hands-on with an all-new, two-hour PC demo, sliced right out of Holstin’s ominous beginnings. While the previous Steam demo captured Holstin’s “feel” through mocked-up puzzles and a firing-range weapons tutorial, this new build puts it all together with a meaty (pun intended) story.
My friends, you’ve gotta keep an eye on Holstin – here are a few reasons why.
#1: “Disgusting” Has Never Looked So Good
It’s the first thing you’ll notice – Holstin is really, really good-looking, right from your sudden drop...
Resolution Games has revealed a debut gameplay trailer for Demeo x Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked, and confirmed a late 2025 release window and launch platforms.
Resolution Games, best known for digital fantasy tabletop adventure Demeo, is working with Wizards of the Coast on the first virtual reality game set in the Dungeons & Dragons universe, called Demeo x Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked. It’s due out on PC via Steam, and PlayStation 5, with a VR version available on PlayStation VR2, Steam VR, and Meta Quest 3.
Battlemarked adapts D&D classes, actions, and lore to Resolution Games’ Demeo action role-playing system, which is DM-less and focuses on social strategy rather than social roleplay. This, Resolution Games said...
Elden Ring Nightreign shares quite a bit with its predecessor Elden Ring, from its gameplay to its lore and history. It also seems to carry some of its technical nuances, according to a new breakdown from the tech experts at Digital Foundry.
Digital Foundry published an analysis of the tech details behind FromSoftware's latest, and while Nightreign remixes a lot of what Elden Ring was into something new, it sounds like the state of Nightreign's technology is fairly reminiscent of Elden Ring's.
"This is really nothing new to those familiar with FromSoftware's Elden Ring engine, and how it operates on consoles," wrote Digital Foundry's Thomas Morgan.
Digital Foundry characterized the optimization for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series...
The challenge of playing Elden Ring Nightreign solo has been a hot-button issue since the game's launch, but director Junya Ishizaki has confirmed solo clears are quite doable. He knows, because he's cleared every boss in Nightreign already, by himself.
Speaking to CNET in a recent interview, Ishizaki was asked whether he has beaten every boss, including the final one, himself.
"Yes. I can hopefully give you reassurance to know that I have beaten all of the game's bosses," said Ishizaki. "I've seen everything it has to offer, both in multiplayer and as a solo player. So I want you and players to know that this is very possible, and I want you to have the confidence to give it a try yourself."
CNET followed to clarify that Ishizaki...
Following the release of AI Darth Vader into Fortnite, Epic has announced plans to let people create their own AI NPCs in the all-encompassing battle royale.
AI Darth Vader hit Fortnite last month. He can serenade you, join and leave squads at will, respond intelligently to the player, issue impromptu dialogue, summarize gameplay events, and warn the player if something's about to go down.
Darth Vader is voiced by the inimitable James Earl Jones, who died in September 2024 at the age of 93. This AI version of his voice, powered by Google's Gemini 2.0 Flash model and ElevenLabs' Flash v2.5, is used with the Jones family's permission.
Within an hour of the feature going live, Fortnite players manipulated Vader into saying the kind of...
Solo developer Joure Nisser, creator of last year's Don't Scream, has announced Deadcam, a new "analog survival horror" game that uses a '90's found-footage VHS camcorder aesthetic to scare you through a series of files (i.e. encounters).
Built in Unreal Engine 5, Deadcam features three weapons in the first file: a katana, a shotgun, and a pistol. Each file is built to be completed in about one hour. There is replayability baked in, though, as there are three different endings available, but, Nisser notes, "only one unlocks the full 100% playback percentage — the 'good' ending."
Nisser offers this gameplay description: "Deadcam's found footage recordings see players through different stories; each file features its own setting...
Another day, another Hollow Knight: Silksong SteamDB update that's whipped information-starved Hollow Knight fans into a frenzy. Could this one finally be the one?
Overnight, Hollow Knight: Silksong was quietly updated on Steam, with SteamDB noting that one package received its first update in over a year (thanks, Eurogamer). It immediately sent the rumor mill into overdrive, with players speculating that something's afoot. Will we finally see more at Summer Game Fest? Could it be part of the Xbox Showcase? Or could we even get a Nintendo Switch 2 shadow drop…?!
Of course, fans immediately began scouring the updates for clues. And while some have been hurt before by a flurry of nothingburger, this update is particularly exciting...
Stellar Blade director and producer Kim Hyung Tae reportedly "fully supports" mods and is looking forward to trying them out.
According to several sources, Kim was reportedly asked about his stance on modding at a recent press conference in Yeouido, South Korea. “First of all, I fully support the phenomenon of players using mods. In fact, I myself also want to try out some of the more exciting mods," he replied.
"I look forward to seeing many players create their own mods and engaging in healthy competition with them to see whose mods are more attractive. I also hope that more players can get involved in mod creation."
Which is just as well, really, as the game isn't even out on PC yet, and already there are dozens of mods listed on...
Private servers are coming to Dune: Awakening, albeit with "concessions" to ensure players retain the large-scale aspects of multiplayer worlds.
Developer Funcom confirmed the news in an update posted to the Steam store page, revealing "rentable private servers" will be available from the moment the game goes live for "head start" (read: early access) players on Thursday, June 5.
"We’ve previously communicated that private servers are for post-launch, but we’re happy to share that progress has been faster than expected," the team said. "We do, however, want to manage expectations about how private servers work in Dune: Awakening. As you know, this is not your typical survival game."
Each server will belong to a World consisting of...
Funcom has confirmed the global release times for Dune: Awakening.
Inspired by Denis Villeneuve and Legendary Entertainment’s blockbuster films, Dune: Awakening is a survival MMO set on the most dangerous planet in the universe, where players can explore Arrakis in an open-world game for the first time ever.
You survive by learning the ways of the Fremen, and expand your potential through combat, the spice, building, and trading. It's set to release on June 10, 2025, on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S after a three-week delay to fix issues identified during its beta testing. Players with a "head start," however, get to play five days early from June 5.
We had a great time with it, writing in IGN's Dune: Awakening beta...
Activision has pulled controversial Call of Duty adverts placed inside Black Ops 6 and Warzone loadouts, insisting they were a “feature test” published “in error.”
Following last week’s launch of Season 4, adverts for weapon bundles could be seen in the build and weapon menus of Black Ops 6 and Warzone. These were unavoidable for players as they tinkered with their loadouts.
Players absolutely hated them, with some going as far as to say they were the last straw. “I wouldn't even be mad if this was just in Warzone, a free game, but putting it in a pay-to-play premium title, with how expensive they're getting? F**k off,” read one angry comment. “This game is still 80€ I get that they make most of their money from the store, but I feel...
Elden Ring Nightreign is now up to 3.5 million copies sold after five days on sale, with its Steam user review rating improving from 'mixed' to 'mostly positive.'
Elden Ring was a massive hit, selling 30 million since going on sale in 2022, and it seems unlikely that Nightreign will come close to matching that success. For better context, the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion sold 5 million copies within three days of its release in 2024.
FromSoftware’s multiplayer spin-off had launched to 2 million sales in just a day, but with a 'mixed' rating on Valve's platform.
Much of the initial negative sentiment revolved around Nightreign’s brutal solo experience, its lack of duos co-op, lack of voice chat, and other archaic mechanics. That...
