Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is delayed once again as its troubled development continues. The Seattle-set vampire game was due out fall 2024 but will now launch in the first half of 2025 across PC, Xbox Series X and S, and PlayStation 5. In a statement attributed to Mattias Lilja, deputy CEO for publisher Paradox Interactive, and Alex Skidmore, creative director at developer The Chinese Room, which took over development duties after original studio Hardsuit Labs was ditched, the delay was attributed to Paradox’s “commitment to delivering high-quality games to our players.” Paradox has recently canceled a number of in-development games and shut down studios as part of a rethink following what it has admitted were various mistakes around expanding the scope of its business and the games it publishes. “Though the game is in a good enough place that we could have maintained our planned release window, Paradox and The Chinese Room collaboratively decided to prioritize polish,” the statement reads. The extra development time will be used “to create a quality assurance buffer, giving more time between testing and launch, ensuring we release the game when it’s ready,” the statement continued. “The extra time gives us an opportunity to adjust certain areas, such as Fabien, and incorporate other community feedback. “We will also use the time to expand the game’s story, and now Bloodlines 2 will have more than twice as many endings as its predecessor.” Finally: “It has been a long journey, but we’re near the final stages of development and will share the release date once we are confident with the game’s level of polish.” Bloodlines 2 is of course the successor to the cult-classic Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines, which came out in 2004 courtesy of developer Troika Games. The sequel has been in various forms of development for nearly a decade. [I]Wesley is the UK News Editor for IGN. Find him on Twitter at @wyp100.
