Though its initial release was met with critical acclaim, replaying Until Dawn can be hard for most due to <a href="https://www.eurogamer.net/digitalfoundry-2015-vs-until-dawn" target="_blank">its framerate issues</a>. The framerate would reach as low as 20 frames per second (FPS) or as high as 40FPS, depending on what was displayed onscreen, due Supermassive not capping the framerate to 30FPS.</p><p></p><p>Although Supermassive Games is best known these days as a horror studio that specializes in narrative-focused, choose-your-own-adventure horror games, most notably The Dark Pictures Anthology series, Until Dawn became a massive hit for the studio and helped make the developer becoming a household name for horror game fanatics.</p><p></p><p>Since Until Dawn's release, Supermassive has released two spin-off games: <a href="https://www.ign.com/games/until-dawn-rush-of-blood#:~:text=Summary,paced%2C%20arcade%2Dstyle%20shooter." target="_blank">Until Dawn: Rush of Blood</a> and <a href="https://www.ign.com/games/the-inpatient" target="_blank">The Inpatient</a>, both released exclusively on the PlayStation VR in 2016 and 2017, respectively.
