Naughty Dog has released a 25GB patch for The Last of Us Part 1 on PC — its seventh update since the port was released just one month ago. The Last of Us Part I v1.0.4.0 targets framerate issues by further optimizing GPU and CPU performance and adding a new option to adjust the texture streaming rate, according to the patch notes. Also among the 22 bug fixes and improvements are texture and resolution enhancements for those playing on low or medium settings, as well as fixes for several instances that may lead to crashing. Naughty Dog says it and PC port developer Iron Galaxy are "actively optimizing, working on game stability, and implementing additional fixes which will all be included in regularly released future updates." Specifically, the companies say those updates will improve framerate, texture fidelity, and CPU optimization. The Last of Us Part 1 for PC was released with numerous technical issues that led to poor performance and excessive crashing. Two days after it was released, it held a "mostly negative" rating on Steam with over 9,000 reviews.
