Square Enix has launched Patch 6.01 for Final Fantasy 14 Endwalker. The update contains content like new items and a new raid series, Pandemonium. But one aspect that the game's community has been mulling over is that the polygons of some of its grapes have been upgraded. Yes, you heard that right. In the Endwalker expansion, the grapes in the Labyrinthos area were graphically low-polygon. According to Square Enix's patch notes, the company referred to the grapes as "an issue" where the polygon count of grapes in Labyrinthos was reduced in excess to "alleviate system memory usage in the area." As such, the grapes have been adjusted to be comparable to those found at the Crystarium. This particular aspect has become a meme within the community and the internet. The grapes, when bunched together, formed a crystal-like shape with hard corners. However, the new update has smoothed those corners out. Now the community is mourning over the fact their favorite meme-able fruit is gone. Even the official Final Fantasy 14 Twitter account has acknowledged the grapes. Final Fantasy 14's latest expansion, Endwalker, launched on December 7. It has been so popular that the game's director had to apologize for its login problems and offered free playtime. Additionally, Square Enix had to temporarily halt new sales of the game in order to alleviate server congestion.
