The second update for Sonic Frontiers comes out today with exciting new features just in time for Sonic's 32nd birthday. The latest wave of content updates for the game was unveiled during the Sonic Central livestream today, and it will gift Sonic the long-awaited Spin Dash move, allowing him to spin his way through the Starfall Islands and Cyber Space levels at the speed of sound. You can try out the Spin Dash and some other new moves out in the regular game and New Game+, which will allow you to start the game from the beginning with the skill tree filled and power-up levels maxed out. To keep the celebration going, the update will bring new collectible Koco, who are all wearing party hats, and accessories such as the sunglasses with the starry arch and wings on the side, which are inspired by the title logos from the early Sonic games. Starfall Islands will also be filled with birthday party decorations, like balloons and birthday presents. New challenges will also be coming to the second update, like the new open zone challenge, which tasks you with running through the islands and beating enemies as fast as you possibly can. Sonic's birthday update is the second in a string of updates coming to Sonic Frontiers throughout the year. The first update, which was released in March, allowed players to search for music from other Sonic titles, such as "Stardust Speedway" from Sonic CD and the Sonic Heroes theme song, and play them as they're, running around the islands, snap breathtaking pictures with Photo Mode, and play through two timed modes, Battle Rush and Cyber Space Challenge. Sonic's Birthday Bash update releases in Sonic Frontiers today at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. [I]Cristina Alexander is a freelance writer for IGN. To paraphrase Calvin Harris, she wears her love for Sonic the Hedgehog on her sleeve like a big deal.
