After confirmations throughout the morning that Grounded and Pentiment would be headed to other platforms - and a leak that Hi-Fi Rush would be too - we now officially know the four Xbox exclusives that will arrive on Nintendo and PlayStation consoles first. The latest reveal is that Sea of Thieves will be arriving on PlayStation 5 on April 30 and, like Grounded, will support crossplay. Xbox revealed as much in a blog post confirming that Grounded, Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, and Sea of Thieves will be the first four exclusives to head to other platforms, something the company announced last week. As revealed during the Nintendo Direct earlier today, Pentiment will be the first of those titles, coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch on February 22. Hi-Fi Rush will arrive on PlayStation 5 on March 19, while Grounded will come to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch on April 16. The Sea of Thieves team also released a video in tandem with the announcement, which you can watch below.
The Future of Xbox
Xbox officially addressed its future - including in regards to platform exclusivity - last week in a business update, where Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer revealed that four Xbox exclusives would be headed to other platforms, but didn't say what they were. At the time, The Verge reported that they would indeed be the four games confirmed today. Spencer did confirm that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Starfield are, as of now, still set to be Xbox exclusives, contrary to some reports. Even still, he didn't rule out a PS5 release for either, telling The Verge, "I don’t think we should as an industry ever rule out a game going to any other platform." Spencer has also said that Xbox remains "supportive" of physical media amid rumors of a shift to a digital business, and Limited Run Games confirmed today that Pentiment and Hi-Fi Rush would be getting physical editions as well.
