At the time, Embracer boss Lars Wingefors admitted “the reception of Saints Row did not meet the full expectations and left the fanbase partially polarized”.</p><p></p><p><a href="https://www.ign.com/articles/embracer-to-close-studios-cancel-games-and-lay-off-staff-after-2-billion-deal-falls-through" target="_blank">Embracer later announced plans to close studios, cancel games, and lay staff off</a> just weeks after a $2 billion contract deal fell through. While fellow Embracer-owned studio Crystal Dynamics said its work on the new Tomb Raider and Perfect Dark games was safe, Volition failed to issue a similar public statement on the future of Saints Row.
