Fallout: New Vegas developer Obsidian isn't working on a new Fallout game currently - but its CEO Feargus Urquhart says "there's not a question" about doing one if he was asked. Speaking to DualShockers, Urquhart said his studio would unquestionably work on a new Fallout game if the opportunity arose, though he doesn't know if Bethesda would ever ask it to. "If we ever got the opportunity to make another Fallout game, we'd make it. There's not even a question of whether or not we would do it, it's just: Will the opportunity arise?," Urquhart said. "I hung around at Interplay for probably an extra year because I wanted to work on Fallout more. I love Fallout." Don't expect anything anytime soon, though. On the series' 25th anniversary, Obsidian more or less confirmed that it isn't making a Fallout game at the moment: Interplay is the creator of Fallout and its spiritual predecessor Wasteland, where Urquhart worked from 1991 to 1996. Bethesda acquired the rights to make Fallout games in 2007 and Obsidian is the only developer outside of Bethesda to create a mainline Fallout game since. The developer is currently working on Starfield, its space-based RPG, after which it will begin production on the Elder Scrolls 6. Starfield will have been in development for eight years when it's released in 2023, while the new Elder Scrolls was officially announced in 2018 and is still in pre-production. Fallout 5 won't arrive until the Elder Scrolls 6 is released, however, meaning it could be upwards of a decade before players can return to the Wasteland.
