New Starfield Trailer Reveals the Game's Main Factions

The area of space that we’ll be exploring is known as The Settled Systems, and starts with our own solar system and expands outwards by around 50 light years into the Milky Way.</p><p></p><p></p><p>The main story of Starfield will take place in 2330, but a key part of its lore appears to be the Colony War, a bitter conflict waged 20 years prior between two key factions: the United Colonies and the Freestar Collective. Apparently the major factions currently enjoy an uneasy peace, but it seems likely your interference in their affairs could shake those loose foundations. Could the UC and Freestar Collective be Starfield’s answer to the Stormcloaks and the Imperial Legion from Skyrim? It seems possible.</p><p></p><p></p><p>Between those big players seem a number of other factions. The trailer namechecks the Ecliptic Mercenaries, the pirates of the Crimson Fleet, and a religious cult known as House Var’ruun.
