"Right now, Wes continues to battle for his life in an intensive care unit," the page said.</p><p></p><p>Johnson volunteered to host a benefit event for the National Alzheimer’s Foundation in Atlanta on January 22 but, after flying down and checking into his hotel, alarms were raised as he didn't appear at the event.</p><p></p><p>"When he didn’t show up at the event, his wife Kim tried desperately to get in touch with him," the post said. "It took hotel security to enter his room and discover him unconscious and barely alive. Emergency medical technician crews struggled to find a pulse."</p><p></p><p></p><p>The GoFundMe set a $50,000 target but this has already been reached almost three times over as $144,791 has been raised so far, via donations from 2,200 supporters.
