An incredibly detailed Batman mod has been created for Grand Theft Auto 5 that includes multiple Batsuits, gadgets, a dozen bat-vehicles, and more. JulioNIB, who's previously modded Godzilla, Superman, and Jaws into the game, released their latest creation on February 2 with a video showcasing its features (spotted by GameRant). JUlioNIB's Batman Script Mod lets PC players don multiple Batsuits (or even walk around as an un-costumed Bruce Wayne), and run, glide, and grapple around Los Santos. The mod also adds its own melee combat reminiscent of the Arkham series, which includes that series' slow-motion finishers. Players can also enjoy not one but 12 different bat-vehicles, including the 1989 Batmobile and the Tumbler from The Dark Knight Trilogy. They can be called to you, sent away, and even have their own array of weapons. The Tumbler comes equipped with machine guns, rockets, homing missiles, spikes released from the back to flatten tires, a grapple hook, slippery oil that sends chasing vehicles spinning out, and a self-destruct mode for when things go south. Other vehicles include the Batcycle and Batplane, with the latter also coming equipped with a body guard mode to protect the player while they're fighting (or committing) crime. The gadgets that Batman can use include the classic Batarang, also with the remote control mode from the Arkham games. Different versions can be equipped including disarm mode, smoke, electric, incendiary, freeze, and explosive, all doing what they say on the tin. These different attacks also apply to the Batclaw, which can also be used to grapple onto buildings, planes, and enemies. The Disruptor Gun adds further chaos by sending vehicles out of control, similar to the hacking mechanic in Watchdogs: Legion. The player is also given a Krypto Spear, used to impale enemies from afar or up close, Shock Gloves, and pellets that explode with smoke, fire, and ice. The mod is currently in pre-release, and available to subscribers on JulioNIB's Patreon page. JulioNIB says they'll now "start a new project and leave Batman script 'quiet' for a while," but hopefully it won't be too long until it gets a release version. The mod is based, at least in part, on Rocksteady's Arkham games, which are rumoured to come to Nintendo Switch. With Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League delayed to 2023, this mod might be the closest we get to something like a new Rocksteady experience for some time. Ryan Dinsdale is an IGN freelancer who occasionally remembers to tweet @thelastdinsdale. Continue reading...
