Today at Gamescom Opening Night Live, Focus Home Interactive announced Atlas Fallen, a new game where your weapons are made entirely out of sand. Atlas Fallen takes place in an understandably sandy world, where two warriors fight various creatures somewhat reminscent of Monster Hunter enemies, using shape-shifting weapons made of sand, as well as (yes) sand-based skills and abilities. The campaign can be played either solo or fully cooperative when Atlas Fallen comes to PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC in 2023. Atlas Fallen is being made by Deck 13, developers of 2017 action RPG The Surge and its 2019 sequel, The Surge 2, which we thought managed to "recapture a lot of what made the original Souls-style sci-fi adventure fun," but was still "a lesser game than the original." Here's hoping this new, sandy system is exactly the refresh Deck 13 needs. [I]Rebekah Valentine is a news reporter for IGN.
