"It was our mistake, and we wanted to let you know that we'll be honouring all pre-purchases made at that price."</p><p></p><p>Though it's now back to normal, the significant price decrease coincides with what is a significant edition of the long-running football franchise. FIFA 23 will be the last of its name as <a href="https://www.ign.com/articles/ea-sports-may-drop-fifa-name" target="_blank">EA opted not to pay the $250 million per year price tag</a> and will instead <a href="https://www.ign.com/articles/fifa-name-change-ea-sports-fc" target="_blank">start fresh in 2023 as EA Sports FC</a>.</p><p></p><p>It's also the first time a female player will grace an international FIFA's cover in franchise history, as <a href="https://www.ign.com/articles/fifa-23-sam-kerr-first-female-cover-star-international" target="_blank">Chelsea star Sam Kerr is joined by PSG's Kylian Mbappé on the Ultimate Edition</a>.
