Fable Social Media Account Reiterates Fall 2026 Release Window Amid Rumors of an Internal Delay to Avoid GTA 6

<blockquote data-quote="Admin" data-source="post: 70840" data-attributes="member: 1"><p><img src="https://assets-prd.ignimgs.com/2026/04/13/fable-main-1776078455779.jpg" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " data-size="" style="" /></p><p>After a weekend in which multiple rumors and reports pointed to an internal delay of Microsoft’s <a href="https://www.ign.com/games/fable" target="_blank">Fable reboot</a> beyond its fall 2026 release window and potentially into 2027, the official Fable social media account has stepped in to reiterate its previously announced date.</p><p></p><p><a href="https://www.instagram.com/reel/DWruL46Ex4P/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==" target="_blank">Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb said</a> that there was concern at Microsoft about Fable potentially running up against the behemoth that is <a href="https://www.ign.com/games/grand-theft-auto-vi" target="_blank">Grand Theft Auto 6</a>, which currently has a November 19, 2026 release date.</p><p></p><p>“I’ll say that I’ve heard that Fable has been pushed internally,” Grubb said. “That doesn’t mean that it’s coming out next year. Apparently, they’re still trying to get it out this year, but they are worried about the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6. And so if it’s getting delayed beyond the release of Grand Theft Auto 6, that could push it into December, which might make it a prime candidate to get delayed into 2027. So while Xbox will have a lot of games coming out this year, that’s one that there’s still a big question mark around.”</p><p></p><p></p><p>However, <a href="https://x.com/fable/status/2043618813640359997" target="_blank">the official Fable X / Twitter account</a> this morning responded to a fan to say “we're excited to welcome you to Albion in Autumn 2026!” That reiteration of the release window is telling here, and a thinly veiled response to the weekend’s reports.</p><p></p><p>Still, it’s easy to imagine Microsoft fussing over release dates this year, as I imagine most AAA video game publishers are doing, in the face of GTA 6. And Microsoft has many release dates still to solidify. While we know Playground’s other game, <a href="https://www.ign.com/games/forza-horizon-6" target="_blank">Forza Horizon 6</a>, launches May 19, it has yet to announce a release date for <a href="https://www.ign.com/games/halo-campaign-evolved" target="_blank">Halo: Campaign Evolved</a>, <a href="https://www.ign.com/games/gears-of-war-e-day" target="_blank">Gears of War: E-Day</a>, which is still down for a 2026 launch, the next Call of Duty, rumored to be Modern Warfare 4, and the aforementioned Fable.</p><p></p><p>Fans will undoubtedly get a clearer idea of Microsoft’s release plans from its <a href="https://www.ign.com/articles/xbox-games-showcase-announced-for-june-gears-of-war-e-day-this-years-headline-title-getting-dedicated-direct" target="_blank">Xbox Games Showcase</a> on June 7. Microsoft has already said Gears of War: E-Day will be there, and we suspect Fable and the new Call of Duty will be, too, alongside release date announcements. Perhaps we’ll see more of InXile's <a href="https://www.ign.com/games/clockwork-revolution" target="_blank">Clockwork Revolution</a>, Undead Labs' <a href="https://www.ign.com/games/state-of-decay-3" target="_blank">State of Decay 3</a>, and maybe even Hideo Kojima’s <a href="https://www.ign.com/games/od-a-hideo-kojima-game" target="_blank">OD</a>.</p><p></p><p></p><p>As it stands, Fable is set for launch this fall across Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
