F1 22 is coming to PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/S, and PC on July 1. Publisher EA has promised the new game will bring the biggest shake-up in over a decade, with new features including VR support on PC through Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. F1 22 will also include "expanded gameplay options" including sprint races, new customisation options for altering formation laps, safety car periods, and pit stops, and adaptive AI that matches player skill level. An immersive, customisable hub world called F1 Life will let players show off and take in their collection of supercars, clothing, and accessories that are earned throughout the game. Tracks have also been updated to match the 2022 season including updates to Abu Dhabi, Australia, and Spain, plus the addition of the inaugural Miami Grand Prix. "Alongside the real-world changes, we have updated the physics to accommodate the new aero rules and re-worked the tyre model, making the handling more true to life," said Lee Mather, creative director at developer Codemasters. "With new and updated circuits, Adaptive AI, F1 Life, and expanded gameplay options, there has never been a better time for players to take their seats and live the life of an F1 driver." Major modes from previous games are returning too, including My Team, the 10-year Career, and multiplayer. July isn't too far away, but if you need to get behind the wheel now then check out our F1 2021 review, which praised the current version of Codemasters' F1 series for being "best-looking and most customisable instalment of series so far". Ryan Dinsdale is an IGN freelancer who occasionally remembers to tweet @thelastdinsdale. He'll talk about The Witcher all day. Continue reading...
