EA’s FIFA series has over the years suffered from the odd bug. Most of the time these bugs are hilarious glitches that result from nightmarish physics collisions between players. But the latest, currently spreading throughout FC 24, is perhaps the worst yet. The bug sees a player perform a skill move to fully attach the ball to the back of their leg, leaving them free to run straight into the goal. There is nothing the opponent can do to prevent this. Really. It’s hard to trace the origin of the bug, but it’s prevalent enough to be affecting competitive multiplayer. Players of Ultimate Team’s Division Rivals mode, results in which affect player ranking and rewards, have taken to social media to publish clips of the exploit. Here’s what’s involved: to get this exploit to work, you need a player with the Trickster+ playstyle (not just Trickster), then perform the catch and spin Trickster+ skill move, and right as the ball makes contact with your player's leg, perform a fake shot while holding RB or R1. Do this correctly and the ball will stick to your player’s foot, leaving them free to run around safe from being tackled. The only mitigating factors here are the tricky timing needed to trigger the bug, and the limited number of in-game players who come with the Trickster+ playstyle. But the bug is replicable, which means you may be on the receiving end depending on the players in your opponent's Ultimate Team. As you’d expect, the FC community is up in arms about this bug, and are worried about its impact on the competitive portion of FC 24. IGN has asked EA Sports for comment, but it will likely be patched out as soon as possible. Until then, players are wondering if EA will disable the Trickster playstyle or cancel the ultra competitive Weekend League while it stamps out this bug. As reported by GI.biz, FC 24 launch sales are down 10% compared to the launch sales of FIFA 23 last year in Europe. Of course, it’s worth pointing out that EA’s football video game franchise changed its name this year after EA Sports’ relationship with FIFA broke down. New players in FC 24 are up nearly 20% year-over-year, EA added. As usual, FC 24 sold best in the UK.
