Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, an expanded version of Dragon’s Dogma 2, has been announced as part of today’s Nintendo Direct. While showcased for Switch 2, the Dark Arisen expansion will also come to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Carrying the same name as the expanded version of the original Dragon’s Dogma, Dark Arisen enhances and updates Capcom’s 2024 RPG, bringing it to Nintendo Switch 2 as part of the big push. This new version of the game will allow you to not only explore the world of the sequel, but also the new snowy region of Norgan, which features "new tales and thrilling encounters," according to a post on X.
A new system will also allow you to seek out spoils and “appraise” them, which will unlock new weapons, armor, and skills.
Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 9, 2026. The Dark Arisen content will also come to PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5 the same day, available as either a DLC expansion or a complete edition bundle with the base game.
After a long wait, Capcom's cult medieval fantasy RPG got a sequel in 2024. Dragon's Dogma 2 was well recieved, earning 8/10 in our review. As with the original version, Switch 2 players new to the world of DD2 will be able to explore an open world filled with massive monsters as they attempt to fulfil their quest of killing the dragon who stole their heart. While it is a single-player game, you can explore the world accompanied by computer-controlled "pawns" that are created by other players and shared online.
Fans of the series will be unsurprised by the announcement - they've been expecting an expansion set in the Northern region for months now. The tease of DLC came after fans called on Capcom to make DLC as the base game hit 4 million copies sold.
