Diablo general manager Rod Fergusson revealed that Diablo IV currently has two expansions in the works. Speaking with Kinda Funny Games, Fergusson said, “As I sit here we're about to launch the main game, we're finishing up season one, we're working on season two, we're working on expansion one, we're kicking off expansion two…we're working on that now and we haven't even launched the game.” Fergusson also adds that the live-service format of Diablo IV allows for more substantial content to be included over time in seasons as opposed to how Diablo III was. Previously, Fergusson mentioned that Diablo IV’s expansions will have narrative questlines and will have richer context around the seasons whereas Diablo III’s was centered on adding mechanics and balancing them. Blizzard's two expansions already puts Diablo IV ahead of its predecessors in terms of post-release content. Diablo II and Diablo III each received one major expansion apiece, though both continued to be well-supported by patches and other content updates. Blizzard has said that Diablo IV will be updated for "years" after launch, and has already revealed a robust roadmap going forward. While Diablo IV doesn’t properly release until it gets out of early access tomorrow, players have already hit level 100 in Hardcore mode and immortalized their names on Blizzard’s Lilith statue. In IGN’s Diablo IV review, we said, “Diablo 4 takes the strategy of refining things the series already did so well rather than giving it a more substantial overhaul, and that careful and reverent path has shaped this massive sequel into one of the most polished ARPGs ever created, which makes slicing through the legions of the damned a hell of a good time.
