Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera, one of the remaining vestiges of the original Call of Duty: Warzone released in 2020, will be taken offline on September 21. All Caldera gameplay, player progression, inventories, and online services will expire on that day, Activision Blizzard said. Activision Blizzard said in a blog post that the decision is being undertaken in order to "focus on future Call of Duty content including the current Warzone free-to-play experience." "Players should prepare for even more Warzone content across consoles and PC, as well as a new era of Battle Royale on the go with the launch of Call of Duty®: Warzone™ Mobile, which includes a shared Battle Pass and cross-progression. The Call of Duty team and Studios look forward to sharing more details soon." The shutdown does not affect the multiplayer in Modern Warfare 2019, Black Ops Cold War, or Vanguard, nor does it impact the current iteration of Warzone. Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera was previously launched as a separate game with content reflective of Call of Duty: Vanguard. It was intended as a replacement for the original Warzone, which was taken offline not long after the release of Warzone 2. Call of Duty is expected to return to Modern Warfare when it releases later this year. An official announcement has not yet been made. Kat Bailey is IGN's News Director as well as co-host of Nintendo Voice Chat. Have a tip? Send her a DM at @the_katbot. Continue reading...
