At the time, there was speculation that this was done to avoid the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6, but then <a href="https://www.ign.com/articles/gta-6-delayed-to-may-2026" target="_blank">GTA was delayed until next year</a>. Gearbox has also already confirmed that <a href="https://www.ign.com/articles/borderlands-4-standard-edition-price-set-at-70-after-all" target="_blank">Borderlands 4 will cost $70 at launch</a>.</p><p></p><p>Previously, Pitchford has stated that the Switch 2 "<a href="https://www.nme.com/news/gaming-news/nintendo-switch-2-borderlands-4-release-date-delay-3870403" target="_blank">has been a joy to work with</a>," but did not explain why the Nintendo version was coming later than the other versions.</p><p></p><p>We got to play a few hours of Borderlands 4 just last month, <a href="https://www.ign.com/articles/borderlands-4-sets-its-sights-on-reclaiming-the-looter-shooter-throne" target="_blank">with our previewer saying</a>, "the handful of hours I played left me fairly confident that I will find myself pulled back into this wonderfully weird world of psychopaths and extremely irritating robots."</p><p></p><p></p><p><em>Rebekah Valentine is a senior reporter for IGN.
