Ubisoft has confirmed that the single-player adventure game Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora requires a one-time internet connection to play, even for physical copies. In an FAQ, Ubisoft said Avatar’s day-one patch is mandatory to start playing, therefore the one-time internet connection is required across all versions of the game. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC on December 7. “After that, you will be able to play the game offline and enjoy the Western Frontier without an internet connection,” the company said. “If you want to team up in co-op, an internet connection is required.” Cross-platform two-player co-op is available only after you’ve finished the quest The Aranahe Clan. Meanwhile, Ubisoft said the Xbox version of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora comes on two discs. In the North, Central and South America territories, the Collector's Edition and Gold Edition has the second disc in a white envelope within the case. This isn't the first time a single-player game has required an internet connection to be played, as EA's Star Wars Jedi: Survivor launched earlier in 2023 with the same issue. IGN’s Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora review returned a 7/10. We said: “Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora features a stunning alien world to explore, but doesn’t contain as many genuine surprises as other modern open-worlds.” [I]Wesley is the UK News Editor for IGN.
