Nobody Saves the World, the next game from Guacamelee developer Drinkbox Studios, is far from just about playing as Nobody, the Greendale Human Being-esque hero of this story. At the core of its gameplay, NSTW lets players transform Nobody into a series of unlockable forms, ranging from a rat, to a monk, to a horse, to a party magician, and much more. But Drinkbox cleverly doesn't limit a player's abilities to just those of their chosen form; as you progress, you'll have the ability to mix and match the abilities of forms to satisfy mission requirements, pull off wild combinations in battle, and just generally get creative with your wacky arsenal. The possibilities are expansive, and now even more so that Nobody Saves the World is...
Activision Blizzard is currently facing serious ongoing allegations of harassment and mistreatment of marginalized workers. To learn more, please visit our timeline as well as our in-depth report on the subject. We're once again returning to World War II in Call of Duty: Vanguard. While there are many mostly unexplored story opportunities for the campaign side, my expectations for multiplayer were largely up in the air. Will this multiplayer find ways to be more innovative than what we got with Black Ops Cold War despite the setting? How much of an impact do the combat pacing filters make? Is the destructible environment addition useful? An early look at Vanguard's multiplayer provided a bit of insight into all of this. I played for...
If there’s one thing that could improve the experience of watching hundreds of bloodthirsty zombies run towards me in a frenzy, it just might be doing so from a first-person perspective rather than third. Seeing hordes of the undead throw themselves off ledges right at me or piling themselves up into murderous mountains of meat to climb towards me is already one of the best experiences World War Z has to offer, but when I saw it through the eyes of my playable survivor it dialed the horror up to 11 in the best possible way. Whether I was trying not to die of hypothermia in the frozen nightmare of Kamchatka, Russia, or blasting my way through a sea of flesh-eaters in the streets of Rome, every encounter hit closer to home with each...
Following the launch of Frontiers, the recent No Man's Sky expansion that added settlements, expanded base-building options and more to the game, the title has finally surmounted a huge milestone in its redemption arc with a change in its Steam review status – having progressed from 'Overwhelmingly Negative' at launch to 'Mostly Positive' today. The turning point serves as a momentous occasion in No Man's Sky's five-year history and sparked a deservedly emotional response from Hello Games founder Sean Murray on Twitter: Tim Woodley, Head of Publishing at Hello Games spoke about the feat and what it has meant to the team working on No Man's Sky. "Over the last five years we've moved from 'Overwhelmingly Negative' to 'Mostly...
Remedy has announced a full remaster of its cult classic Alan Wake, due to arrive this fall on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC (via Epic Games Store). Perhaps more excitingly, it opens the door more than ever for Alan Wake 2 to come down the line. After a leak last week, Remedy and publisher Epic announced that Alan Wake Remastered would come with both of the game's expansions, allow for 4K resolution, and will include a new commentary from creative director Sam Lake. No official release date has been announced, but the previous retailer leaks have pointed to October 5. Lake himself wrote about the remaster on Alan Wake/Remedy fansite The Sudden Stop, beginning his letter by writing "this is for you". He confirmed that...
Following his comments supporting the Texas anti-abortion law, Tripwire CEO John Gibson has stepped down from the company behind such games as Maneater and Chivalry 2. Tripwire announced the news alongside confirming that co-founding member and current vice president Alan Wilson will now act as interim CEO. In its statement, Tripwire shared that Gibson's views do not reflect the company as a whole and that "his comments disregarded the values of our whole team, our partners and much of our broader community." "The comments given by John Gibson are of his own opinion, and do not reflect those of Tripwire Interactive as a company," Tripwire wrote. "His comments disregarded the values of our whole team, our partners and much of our...
I've got quite the eclectic mix of bargains here today. The co-op afficionados are covered (Overcooked 2, Dead Island, Lego Harry Potter). Same deal with anybody looking to swap their current four walls with broader horizons (The Outer Worlds, Spidey Miles Morales, BioShock Infinite, AC Valhalla). Oh, and there's also something for the rarer individual who just can't get enough pandemic (66% off Plague Inc.). Sick game. Liked it more when it was less relatable. Stardew Valley creator Eric Barone says that he is currently focused on creating a new, unrevealed game rather than fresh updates for his immensely popular farming simulator. Speaking recently to Zach Hartman on Twitch (as reported by Eurogamer) following the conclusion of the first official Stardew Valley Cup, Barone explained that he's currently not working on future Stardew Valley updates because he has been focused on a new game. "I'm not saying there's going to be another Stardew Valley update," Barone added during his response to a fan's question surrounding future updates and marriage options within the game. "I don't even know at this point. Right now I am focused on my next game. So, we'll see." Whilst Barone kept details...
Sonic Colors: Ultimate recently launched across Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. However, following a range of issues predominantly affecting the Switch version of the game, the development team at Blind Squirrel Games has promised to patch the title. The studio thanked fans for their feedback on issues that have been cropping up within the game on Twitter before announcing that it was "preparing a patch for release as soon as possible". Sonic the Hedgehog social media manager, Katie Chrzanowski also went on to thank fans for their patience – although noted that the team had seen some graphical issues in the game that were being caused by a Nintendo Switch emulator outside of the studio's control. Despite some...
Two developers associated with Tripwire Interactive have distanced themselves from the publisher after president John Gibson stated his positive views on Texas' controversial new anti-abortion law. One developer has cancelled all of its contracts with the publisher as a result. Gibson, Tripwire's co-owner, tweeted that he was "proud" of the US Supreme Court for affirming the law before further going on to say that, while he "doesn't get political often," he felt that it was important to "go on the record as a pro-life game developer". Since then, developers that have worked alongside Tripwire on a number of titles have been quick to set out their own views on the president's comments. Shipwright Studios, which contributed to both...
Far Cry 6 is roughly a month away, and ahead of the game's official October 7 release date, the system requirements needed to run the PC version have been officially revealed. The game’s minimum specs are not too heavy, with an AMD Ryzen 3 1200 or an Intel Core i5-4460 processor and either an AMD Radeon RX 460 or an Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 graphics card inside your rig. Those minimum specs on the CPU and GPU front, along with 8GB of RAM will run the game on a low preset with a resolution of 1080 and 30 frames per second and no ray tracing. Now, if you are looking to run the game at 1440p or 4K resolutions, you will need to have more powerful hardware upgrades for your machines. For example, if you want to run the game at 1440p with...

Riot Games is joining forces with an ex-Netflix executive to continue developing its new entertainment division. Brian Wright has been hired as Riot's Chief Content Officer. Wright will help develop original film, TV, and animation projects for Riot Entertainment. In addition, Riot Games says Wright will work to bridge the relationship between the gaming and entertainment industries. At Netflix, Wright worked on bringing more original content to the platform, including Stranger Things, 13 Reasons Why, and more. Wright says he's "beyond thrilled" to join Riot Games, adding, "I can't wait to bring more vibrant stories to players and fans around the world.” Riot Games is known for developing and publishing League of Legends and...
King's Bounty 2 is a tired sigh of a Euro-style tactical RPG. Not the kind you make when you're frustrated or relieved, though; it's more like when you sit down after walking up a long flight of stairs and feel sort of distantly content. For the most part, it's fine. The tactical combat is actually pretty enjoyable, the music is great, and the world looks nice. But it feels janky and unpolished in a lot of technical aspects, and the mediocre storytelling rarely got me motivated to see how the next step of the adventure might unfold. In a lot of ways, this long-overdue sequel is comparable to RPGs like ELEX or The Technomancer: a mid-budget contender that really wants to be something like a blockbuster BioWare game but doesn't really...
2021 officially marks the 49th season of the World Rally Championship, making WRC 10’s 50th anniversary content… a fraction premature. Of course, after nearly two years of total turmoil it’s hard to blame anyone for wanting to celebrate their birthday early – the World Rally Championship included. To mark the moment, WRC 10 arrives armed with the most retro content to grace developer KT Racing’s series so far, with a new mode featuring cars and stages representing five decades of rally racing history. Combined with a deep career mode, the result is the spiciest and arguably the strongest official WRC game to date – though that’s a narrow victory, since it still hasn’t changed dramatically since the already very good WRC 8 and WRC 9...

Take-Two Interactive is suing the creators of reverse-engineered Grand Theft Auto 3 and Grand Theft Auto Vice City fan projects. This news comes by way of VideoGamesChronicle, which reports that the lawsuit was filed in California and names 14 programmers who were working on the project. IGN reported back in February that this project had received a DMCA takedown from Take-Two, the parent company of Rockstar Games. The lawsuit claims that the people on the project "are well aware that they do not possess the right to copy, adapt, or distribute derivative GTA source code, or the audiovisual elements of the games, and that doing so constitutes copyright infringement," according to VGC. It's important to note that the team isn't...
A new Destiny 2 update went live yesterday and it enabled cross-play voice chat, a little over a week after cross-platform play was added to the game. Bungie posted the patch notes for yesterday’s 3.3.0.1 Hotfix coming to Destiny 2 and in them, the company lists cross-play voice chat as now enabled in-game, as reported by GameSpot. This voice chat feature comes just after the launch of Season 15, which is called the Season of the Lost, on August 24. At the bottom of the patch notes, in the "General" section, you'll find "Cross Play voice chat enabled" as a bullet point. However, Bungie lists some communication privacy issues that aren't working as intended for Xbox players. Here's what those issues are: Xbox players will still...

This news comes by way of DotEsports, which also reports the fifth season of Overwatch League is expected to begin on time next April, as announced by the league's vice president, Jon Spector. After rumors of a year-long hiatus for the league began to ramp up, Blizzard recently confirmed them to be false. Brendan "PlayerUnknown" Greene, the creator of PUBG, wants to create the biggest sandbox-style open-world game ever with his new studio. The PlayerUnknown Twitter account posted a five-minute video today featuring Greene talking directly to the camera about his studio's aspirations, as reported by Eurogamer. In it, Greene discusses his fascination with open-world games, how he wants to create games at a scale seldom seen, and more. "And since [getting lost in the open fields of Chernarus in DayZ], I've held this deep fascination with sandbox-style open-world games and the freedoms that they give players, but I always just wished they were a bit bigger," Greene says in the video. "So that's our mission as a studio. We want to create...

The Top Gun: Maverick expansion for Microsoft Flight Simulator has technically been delayed as a result of the movie's recent delay. Asobo Studio and Microsoft have been clear from the start that Flight Simulator's Top Gun expansion would be released alongside the release of Top Gun: Maverick in theaters. As such, the release date was theoretically the same as Top Gun: Maverick's release date. Now, due to Top Gun: Maverick's delay, the Flight Simulator expansion has been delayed as well, as reported by Eurogamer. "Paramount Pictures recently shifted the release date of Top Gun: Maverick to Memorial Day weekend, May 27, 2022," a blog post on the official Flight Simulator page reads. "As we have previously announced, the Top Gun...
Android-only play tests for Battlefield Mobile will begin this Fall in two countries: Indonesia and the Philippines. EA announced this news on its Battlefield mobile play test FAQ page, adding that as EA continues with testing, more regions will be added to the play tests. EA didn't mention which regions, however. "We'll be steadily rolling out Battlefield Mobile starting with a series of smaller play tests in Indonesia and the Philippines," the blog post reads. "The first of these begins Autumn 2021, and will only be available on Android devices. As we continue testing, we'll expand the size of these tests [and] add new regions." EA says that when the play tests grow broader in scope and size, it will launch a page that allows...
Halo Infinite will bring back the old motion tracker-style radar seen in Halo games before Halo 5 in light of feedback following the game's recent technical preview. This news comes by way of a recent Halo Waypoint blog posted by 343 Industries breaking down all of the feedback the studio received during and following its recent technical preview, as reported by PC Gamer. According to 343, most players missed the old properties of Halo radars, which differ from the game's current Combat Sensor that only displays enemy locations when they're sprinting or shooting a weapon. "The Combat Sensor, or radar, that sits in the bottom left of your HUD follows a different set of rules than previous Halo titles," the blog post reads. "We knew...
Games with Ghibli vibes are becoming more prevalent these days, but so far, the closest I've gotten to feeling like a Ghibli protagonist floating in a summery field of grass has been with Hoa, a new platforming game from Vietnamese studio Skrollcat. Hoa's inspirations are clear the moment the game starts, with a tiny protagonist floating dreamily to an island upon a single leaf before wordlessly beginning to explore. Without exposition, the titular Hoa begins to explore a world of sunlight filtered through green, gentle bug friends, hanging flowers and vines, sparkling cave systems, and soft, natural beauty. It's all done in a hand-painted style clearly nodding to its animated inspirations, and underscored by a tender, fully...
A remaster of Alan Wake might be coming next month, according to a new store listing. Back in June, Alan Wake Remastered appeared alongside Final Fantasy 7 Remake within Epic Games Store backend data. Now, a little over two months later, listings for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox versions of Alan Wake Remastered have appeared on Taiwanese store, Rakuten Taiwan, as spotted by Wario64 on Twitter. The links Wario64 posted no longer take you to the Alan Wake Remastered listings, but before the links were changed, IGN was able to visit each link and verify that each took you to a Rakuten Taiwan listing for the game. Below are screenshots of the PS4, PS5, and Xbox listings for Alan Wake Remastered. As you can see in the...

We already knew that Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, a Smash Bros-esque fighting game with characters from popular Nickelodeon shows, will be released on consoles this fall. But it appears that the release date is sooner than we expected if Nintendo's website is anything to go off of. Heading to the Nintendo eShop, the Switch version for the upcoming fighting game notes that it will release on October 5 of this year. The listing also reveals the game's file size comes in at 2.9GB. IGN has reached out to a representative for the game and will update when we hear back. Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is currently in development by Ludosity & Fair Play Labs. Alongside a Nintendo Switch version, the game will also launch on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox...
