Uh oh, Geoff Keighley is teasing Hollow Knight: Silksong at Gamescom Opening Night Live. Is it...finally time? Dare we hope? If that above post means nothing to you, you've managed to steer clear of the Hollow Knight: Silksong fervor for years now, somehow. Since 2021, Hollow Knight fans have used images and emojis of clowns (and specifically, the one right below) to goof about their constant hope for news about Silksong, especially around big presentations like Nintendo Directs, The Game Awards, or Summer Game Fest. Every time a new presentation rolled around, Silksong fans would post clown images and joke about putting on clown makeup, effectively acknowledging that it was cartoonish to hope for Silksong news but that they were...

Yu Suzuki and publisher ININ Games have announced Shenmue 3 Enhanced at Gamescom 2025. It’s described as “the most refined version of Ryo Hazuki’s epic journey,” and will see the 2019 action adventure release on new platforms with new features and enhanced visuals. The Enhanced version is “more vibrant, more responsive, and more accessible than ever, guided by Yu Suzuki’s vision,” ININ Games said. Expect “sharper” textures, faster load times, and “smoother” gameplay. There’s also increased NPC density, a classic camera mode inspired by Shenmue 1 and 2, and various gameplay tweaks. Shenmue III Enhanced will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, Nintendo (the specific Nintendo platform is listed as TBD, so it’s unclear if...
A modder has created a solution for Wuchang: Fallen Feathers PC players unhappy with the recent changes introduced in Patch 1.5. Last month, developer Leenzee Games promised fans that a number of performance and optimization issues plaguing the game since launch were on the way. And while Patch 1.5 does address many of these issues, it also made sweeping, and unexpected, changes to many of the game's enemies, dialogue, and story. As we explained at the time, prior to the patch, you were able to target and kill certain human NPCs you encountered throughout the game. These characters were passive and didn't attack you, but murdering them affected your character's "madness" mechanic. That's no longer the case, however — the NPCs are...
Nexon has acknowledged "irregularities" in a series of TikTok advertisements for The First Descendant after fans accused the company of producing the "low effort" marketing materials via AI. It follows breaking news over the weekend in which Reddit user iHardlyTriHard collated four unusual advertisements after scrolling their For You Page for just 15 minutes. With all four exhibiting mismatched lip syncing, strange head movements, unnatural dialogue, and at least one that appears to use the likeness of content creator DanieltheDemon — although whether this was with or without permission, we don't yet know — fans immediately began speculating that they'd been produced via AI. Nexon was quick to respond, although the developer's...
There are weeks where the shelves feel barren, and then there are days like today where my prestigious wishlist cries out with its siren's song of savings. What I've got for you now is my usual eclectic blend of iconic franchises, cult indies, and blockbusters that I’d happily revisit. From RPG epics to pixel-perfect heartbreakers, there's some top-tier for every taste. This Day in Gaming 🎂 In retro news, I’m using the flaming wreck of my bike after a botched landing to light a 27-candle mudcake baked for Motocross Madness. A rowdy dirt-racing experiment, this wasn’t just about racing laps so much as it was about flinging yourself across ridiculous hills and embracing glorious ragdoll bails. It was messy, silly, and endlessly...
We've rounded up the best deals for Sunday, August 17, below, so don't miss out on these limited-time offers. Lies of P for $29.99 Lies of P has continued to sit atop many favorite game lists over the last few years. A sequel is in development, with a major tease left for players at the end of the base game. The recently released Lies of P: Overture prequel gave yet another reason to re-enter this world, and for new players, there's never been a better time to jump in. The First Berserker: Khazan for $49.99 The First Berserker: Khazan is available on sale this weekend at Amazon for $49.99. That's a discount of $10, and while small, is still solid if you haven't yet picked up the game. In our 8/10 review, we wrote, "The First...

Last month, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers developer Leenzee Games promised fans that a number of performance and optimization issues plaguing the game since launch would be patched out promptly. Now, patch 1.5 does seem to address many of these issues, but with a strange cost: it also makes sweeping changes to many of the game's enemies, dialogue, and story that have fans even more unhappy. If you look at the patch notes for 1.5, they initially seem pretty inocuous. There's some bug fixes, and a lot of good improvements such as a sped-up healing animation and the ability to dodge cancel out of the recovery animation. There's also an "optimization" in there that the patch notes say is in preparation to allow players to respawn closer to...
Grand Theft Auto 5 players on PC just got a new update that adds DLSS 4 support, new cards for Grand Theft Auto Online, and more. Rockstar Games detailed all of the additions for GTA 5 Enhanced owners on its website, revealing a garage filled with content for fans who play both in single-player and online. Although the vast majority of the new goodies can only be enjoyed by those playing the latest iteration of GTA’s multiplayer experience, DLSS 4 support is one change that all fans can take advantage of. Buried toward the end of the latest GTA 5 update’s blog post is confirmation that the latest Nvidia driver update comes with DLSS 4 with multi-frame generation and DLSS frame generation for both GTA 5 Enhanced and GTA Online. Nvidia...
Mafia: The Old Country developer Hangar 13 has confirmed Free Ride mode is coming to the game as part of a free update for all players. Hangar 13 also revealed "new activities and gameplay" are coming as part of the free update, which is due out in "the coming months." The developer didn't offer any more information, but did issue the image, below, to tease Free Ride: If The Old Country's Free Ride mode works like it does in previous Mafia games, it'll let players explore the game's environments without any mission objectives. Essentially, it's an opportunity to check out the beautiful vistas, test drive the vehicles in your garage, find collectibles out in the world, and maybe uncover a few secrets. Free Ride harkens back to the...
Cal Kestis, the hero of EA's Star Wars Jedi video games, will appear in a spin-off TV series — marking his first voiced appearance in another medium. The redheaded Jedi will play a role in new episodes of Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy set to debut on streaming service Disney+ next month. A non-canon spin-off set in a "What If?"-style remixed Star Wars universe, Rebuild the Galaxy previously introduced the world to Darth Jar-Jar. Who knows what this second round of episodes will see Kestis (or an alternate universe version of him) get up to. As in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Kestis will once again be voiced by Cameron Monaghan, in the actor's first voice role as Kestis outside of a video game. News...

Geoff Keighley has confirmed seven of the games that will be shown during Opening Night Live on Tuesday. In a tweet, Keighley listed big hitter Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 (Black Ops 7 just had a number of key details leak ahead of the show) alongside other Microsoft-owned games The Outer Worlds 2, Ninja Gaiden 4, and World of Warcraft: Midnight. Sony is showing up with the upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive Ghost of Yotei, and Capcom has the hotly anticipated Resident Evil Requiem. Elsewhere, Konami’s Silent Hill f is on the ONL list. This is on top of an appearance of Fallout Season 2 in some form (a debut trailer would be nice), and a Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 music performance. While it’s not on Keighley’s list, Game Science has...
What I'd consider the best parts of horror in games aren't jump scares or gruesome monsters chasing you, rather an eerie atmosphere or a lingering feeling of dread – knowing something is a little off. I've long heralded the 2008 cult-classic OFF, an RPG Maker (2003) game from developer Mortis Ghost, for how it wields its lo-fi art style to evoke that powerful sense of dread and reveal things that are truly horrifying. As a small-scale game that only had an English version via fan translation in 2011, this official remaster in 2025 is important for preserving an influential retro-style RPG, especially as it is largely faithful to the original. In some respects, it hasn't aged quite as gracefully as I'd hoped (partially due to the...
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 looks set to skip the Nintendo Switch 2 at launch, despite parent company Microsoft’s “binding 10-year legal agreement” to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo platforms. In 2023, as part of its push to get its Activision Blizzard acquisition cleared through the courts, Microsoft promised to release future Call of Duty games “with full feature and content parity” on Nintendo platforms on the same day as Xbox. Under the contract Nintendo owners will be able to “experience Call of Duty just as Xbox and PlayStation gamers enjoy Call of Duty," Microsoft said at the time. Call of Duty has not been available on Nintendo since 2013’s Call of Duty: Ghosts for Wii U. However, according to reliable leaker billbil-kun (via...
The classic beat ‘em up has enjoyed a resurgence lately, thanks in large part to the magnificent Streets of Rage 4. That means gathering a few friends and spending hours punching the crap out of enemies is back on the menu, and honestly, it’s a joyous experience, especially for anyone over the age of 30. Heroes of Mount Dragon is the newest beat ‘em up on the scene, featuring all the classic class archetypes but with more complex move sets. Each character has two basic attacks, which can even be different weapons, so the archer can kick just as well as shoot arrows. You can mix and match these attacks however you want, and there are special moves too, like launching enemies into the air for juggling combos, either by you or a...
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Definitive Edition is out now, and of course modders are already pushing it to its limits. But the way they’re doing it is a lot of fun — and is perhaps the closest we’ll get to seeing a Waaagh! visualized on-screen. Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War is Relic Entertainment’s much-loved real-time strategy game set in Games Workshop’s grim dark sci-fi universe. It launched in 2004 and proved to be an entry point into the Warhammer 40,000 universe for a generation of PC gamers, while also pleasing existing fans with its authentic representation of the setting. Now, over 20 years later, Dawn of War returns in Definitive Edition form, and some of the modders who have spent years tinkering with the original are...
David Hayter — who for many years gave Snake his signature gruff voice — has finally "forgiven" series creator Hideo Kojima for not casting him in 2015's Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain after playing the "amazing" game. At the time he was jettisoned for Hollywood movie star Kiefer Sutherland, Hayter admitted that playing the game at the time would've felt like "60 hours of humiliation," adding: "I've got no particular love for Kojima. I don't feel any need to go back and work with him again." Now, with more distance, Hayer told PC Gamer, "Well, there was reluctance. I didn't want to play the game because I figured it would hurt my feelings. Then, you know, 10 years went by and I was like, 'Ah, to hell with my feelings. What do I...
Diablo 4 fans believe Blizzard has leaked the action RPG’s next class via an internal build name. Wowhead reported that the Paladin class, perhaps the most-requested by fans since Diablo 4’s June 2023 release, is coming soon, potentially even as part of Season 11. That’s because the word Paladin was found in the name of a build uploaded to Blizzard’s servers (2.5.Xpaladin67961). The Paladin is one of the most popular classes from Diablo 2, so its arrival in Diablo 4, should it happen, would be celebrated by the game's community. Now, this may be nothing (and Diablo 4 fans are already joking that the Paladin will be added as a Mercenary rather than a new class), but a new class is expected from Diablo 4’s second expansion, and the...
PayPal is the latest payment system to stop processing Steam transactions in some countries due to alleged concerns about explicit games on Valve's storefront. In a new question added to its Purchasing Issues Q&A page, Valve explained that in July, "PayPal notified Valve that their acquiring bank for payment transactions in certain currencies was immediately terminating the processing of any transactions related to Steam. This affects Steam purchases using PayPal in currencies other than EUR, CAD, GBP, JPY, AUD and USD." While no further explanation was given, Valve said it "hope[d] to offer PayPal as an option for these currencies in the future but the timeline is uncertain. We are also evaluating adding additional payment methods on...
Thank your own personal deity (possibly a panther riding Awilix), it's Friday! Today’s trawl across Switch, Xbox, PlayStation, and PC has yielded the sort of finds that could make any backlog groan with incredulity. From high-speed hedgehogs to sprawling RPG epics, my handpicked line-up is as eclectic as it is irresistible. This Day in Gaming 🎂 In retro news, I’m taking aim at Duck Hunt, the quintessential light gun game that’s having its 38th birthday today. I have crystal clear memories of my first time playing this and thinking, “Whaaa? There’s a bright orange ray gun that can kill the things living in my TV?” That felt like voodoo magic to an '80s kid. Better yet, the NES Zapper had this ker-chunking trigger retort, too. So...
A Grand Theft Auto 5 content creator believes he has finally solved the infamous Mount Chiliad mystery after 12 years of sleuthing, but some members of the community aren’t convinced. If you’ve played GTA 5 – and there’s a good chance you have – you’ve also likely heard about Mount Chiliad and the notorious UFO Easter Egg associated with it. In September 2013, almost exactly 12 years ago, eager GTA fans booted up Rockstar Games’ latest sandbox to find a trio of main characters, new locations, and a smorgasbord of mysteries to uncover. Evidence of aliens could and still can be found strewn about the Los Santos map, with players able to discover everything from extraterrestrial remains to crashed UFO ships if they know where to look...
The last few years have featured a stream of visually impressive titles from Chinese developers coming at a regular clip. That trend continues with Of Peaks and Tides, an open-world survival sandbox game revealed with a debut trailer Thursday by developer CyancookGames. Inspired by Eastern mythology, Of Peaks and Tides takes place in Everland, a world the gods abandoned after a long celestial war. The once-thriving civilizations built by mankind’s tribes have been reduced to ashes after 1,000 years of conflict, and the Ascent — a tower that once connected the realms of humans and gods — lies crumbling at the heart of the world. After the gods departed, the forces of nature they once governed went out of control, leading to natural...
There’s no better way to derail a weekend than to “just browse” a few storefronts and end up in possession of ten new games. Today's discounts are absolutely in that dangerous category. From sprawling JRPG worlds to nostalgic remakes and unexpectedly brilliant licensed titles, I found a little something for every mood, every console, and every budget. This Day in Gaming 🎂 In retro news, I'm celebrating the 12th birthday of DuckTales Remastered, an exemplary milestone on how to nail an 8-bit glow-up. Ironically, developer WayForward was the opposite of Scrooge with this, sparing no expense on hand-drawn HD graphics, extra levels, unlockable content, and most of the original voice cast from the iconic '80s cartoon. Better yet, they...
Sony has revealed its PlayStation Plus Game Catalog August 2025 additions, pulling back the curtain on Extra and Premium tier highlights like Marvel’s Spider-Man, Mortal Kombat 1, Resident Evil 2, and more. The full lineup of titles joining PlayStation’s gaming subscription service was revealed in a new PlayStation.Blog post today. It’s a month with titles that range from some of the biggest games on the market to a few hidden indie gems, with PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers also netting access to a five-hour Death Stranding 2: On the Beach Game Trial. The PlayStation Plus Game Catalog will expand with 11 new titles come August 19. Subscribers at the Extra and Premium tiers will enjoy standouts like NetherRealm Studios’ soft...
Keeping your gaming PC clean inside and out is one of the best ways to ensure it continues to operate at peak performance and efficiency. Insulating dust and debris can leave heatsinks unable to shed the heat output by your hottest components, which in turn can lead to overheating, thermal throttling, and even system crashes. To make sure that doesn’t happen, doing a once a year quick clear out of any dust built up inside your PC and its dust filters is a smart plan. Here’s how to do it effectively and safely. What You Need To Clean Your PC Cleaning out your PC is simple, but depending on the extent of the grime, you might want to get some tools ready to really give your PC a deep clean. Microfiber cloths Can of compressed air...
Not only will Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater be missing its multiplayer Fox Hunt mode at launch, the online offering will also lack crossplay support when it does arrive. Metal Gear Delta developer Konami dropped the bombshell today via its Japanese social media account, and stated that players on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S would be excluded from playing with one another. The response to the news has not been kind, with fans dubbing the announcement as "severely disappointing" and a decision that could now impact the overall longevity of the game, should particular platforms start to feel devoid of players. "Why not? Konami IDs have existed forever. Use 'em," wrote one fan in response. "I have friends who...
Impressive-looking life sim inZoi will launch on PS5 next year, sometime in 2026 — though an Xbox launch looks further off. While publisher Krafton couldn't provide any further information on the release than this — so we don't yet even have an approximate release window, let alone a firm date — it did say in a statement on social media that the team "is working hard to bring you the best possible experience on PS5." It also confirmed that an Xbox release "is also under consideration, but not yet confirmed." Sorry, Xbox fans. inZoi is a life simulation game where players become gods within the game, allowing them to change everything as they wish and experience endless new stories in various forms of life. Its first free DLC, Island...
