Below are a few things that I have put together over time to help those applying show that they want the position. This will include a lot of different things, and I urge all who are thinking of applying to consider this for their applications. This is all purely my thoughts on this, and other Staff members may think differently on this.

1) Play on the server for awhile. You should try to be someone who is at least slightly known by the other users of Aggression. Players will like you a lot more, and it helps to know the players that you are Mediating, Moderating, or Administrating.

2) Apply for Mediator first. Nobody is immediately given the position of Admin or Moderator - it just doesn't happen. You can label it a Moderator application if you want, but be sure to say that you're willing to be promoted to Mediator at first to prove everything that's been said in your application.

3) Be a valuable community member. This does go along with suggestion number 1 a bit, but takes it a bit further. Greet new members as they join, answer questions when others ask them, and simply be nice. This is probably one of the most important things you should do before applying, and continue to do afterwards.

4) Make your application quality. You won't be given a Staff position by just saying, "I've been an Admin on a server, so accept me.", you have to put some effort into it. You can explain some of the stuff from previous suggestions in the application, go into some detail about a previous leadership position you've had and how it qualifies you for the position. Some resources to help you with this part will be left at the bottom.

5) (For those applying for Admin and Moderator mainly, partially for those applying for Mediator) Know your plugins. Take a look at the plugins we currently have, and learn the commands for them. Just as you have to make sure to know the players of the server, you need to know the plugins. If you don't know what they do, and how to use them, how are you going to help the server with the power of the position?

6) Come up with logical times for punishments. This is really something for after you get accepted, but mentioning that you've done this in your application is something that could improve what people think of it. This also means that you're ready to go the moment you're accepted (if you are).

7) Make sure that you can track multiple problems. Sometimes, multiple players need Staff to do something for them at the same time, and so it really helps to be able to keep track of everything needed. This could be any combination of things, from being able to answer a question while checking something for glitching, etc.

8) Enjoy being in these positions. This is also mainly meant for Moderators and Admins, but could apply to Mediators as well. If you don't enjoy assisting the server, then you won't last long in the position. You have to understand that, in the Moderator and Admin positions, you will not actually be playing anymore. You can't PvP or play normally in those ranks, that's what Mediators do. Instead, you'll be helping the server. It's really good if you actually enjoy doing this.

9) Be active. If your not active, then it makes it tough for you to actually help the server as much as you need to when you have such a position. This is one of the best suggestions I could give you, if you are considering applying.

10) Be respectful of all players. Once again, going back to tips 1 and 3, this is something important to do. If you aren't respectful to all players then nobody's going to really want you in a Staff position. This should also apply to those breaking rules to an extent, unless they show complete disrespect for the rules, they should be shown some respect.

11) Respect your superiors. Just because you're a Staff member does not mean that you're above the everyone else. If you're a Mediator, you need to obey Moderators, Admins, and the Head Mediator. If you're a Moderator, you need to listen to other Moderator, and Admins.

12) Accept the results gracefully. If you get accepted, it's fine to celebrate, but don't go around '/msg'ing everyone on the server about it, and you should definately not brag to those who did not get accepted. Likewise, if you are not accepted, do not get mad at those who judged the application. You can reapply later, and maybe you'll get accepted the next time.

13) Use proper grammer. While you might still get accepted without this, the first conclusion that I (and some others) come to when they see an application without capitals, punctuation, or proper spelling is that it should not be accepted. This goes along with 'Make your application quality', but is probably one of the most important things to it.

14) Be able to explain yourself well. In a Staff position, you usually end up having to tell someone why they were punished when they ask. If you can't explain this well, people question what you do, and it just makes things bad. You have to be able to explain what specifically someone did wrong, what their punishment is, and direct them towards the site to make an appeal. It may be best not to apply if you can't do this, but you can always work on it and try later!

Added by Tom:

13) Read other applications before you submit your own. If you really care about getting a staff position, you can take ten minutes to figure out what we want. If we see a half-assed application, it will be instantly denied, even if you have some potential.

14) If you are denied, don't reapply within two weeks (at least). If you don't get a response, don't PM admins. We will get to it, chances are we are actually discussing it privately. We take our staff decisions very seriously, and rarely make decisions without a large amount of consideration.

Holy wall of text

I like how you didn't include my application:

"give me admin plz"

Edit: Also, good job!

Edit2: Also added two important points of my own

I'm just going to throw this out there: the rules about actually applying(before being accepted, how the actual application should be formed) apply to any application, if you want to be accepted. That includes even the RMM or any other at least semi-serious clan out there.

Basic idea: Put effort into your application if you expect it to be looked at seriously, and not laughed at. If you're going to write like shit, without a single punctuation mark or capital letter, chances are, it's not going to be looked at positively. For fuck's sake, I'm a Lithuanian and I type mostly properly. You are usually Aussie/Brit/American and you still fail to do it.

And it has to contain actually acceptable stuff, not shit either.

Tom, if I included yours, we would start seeing other applications by those who think it's funny, who'd copy the original (the original one from you was definately good, seeing another wouldn't be quite as entertaining). :p

Anyways, I've updated it with a couple of extra suggestions, and I've also made it a little more friendly. Now the wall of text is not as frightening as before.
