Well seeing as BoN is expanding to other games like CSS, why not into Halo? All you need is a few good maps for a rotation. If you go regular Halo, I'd suggest; Blood Gulch, Death Island, and Sidewinder. If you go Custom Edition, I'd suggest Coldsnap, Extinction, and possibly one of the RPG maps. Of course this is just a suggestion, but I've seen a lack of some dedicated servers with good maps lately.

Halo 2 for windows is the buggiest, most problem laden experience of your life if you're tying to playing on Win7. There is no optimal set of hardware/software to play it with, because it has DirectX problems, and everyone needs DirectX 9 to play it. And if you're on a semi-new Nvidia card, well Halo 2 hates Optimus, so unless you can turn it off in BIOS you're double screwed. And even if you can avoid both problems above, Halo 2 has, has to be the first Games for Windows Live game that you install, Halo 2 doesn't like it if you already have GFWL installed. So even if you could get a server running, you would not get that many able to play it due to above issues.

Halo CE however, has literally none of the issues above and has not had problems that haven't been patched. True it doesn't have as nice a graphics engine, but who gives a shit when you can install and play it with no problems on any OS that anyone would be using. (Even Linux?)

I assume it's free then. I don't have a problem with graphics, I suggested Halo 2 because I have it.

If it's not I'll pirate it or do something to be able to play.

No problems with Halo 2 on PC, ever. Stop being bad with Windows.

Side notes

  1. You need DirectX 9 to play Halo CE.
  2. Halo 2 can run on integrated fine because of the low res texturing.
  3. No problem with newer versions of GFWL being installed, install the old redistributable before if you have problems.

I actually had no issues with Halo 2, maybe because I got the Vista edition or something. It says it's for Vista anyways. Which means it's also for Win6.1

Halo 2 was "For Vista" only. There was no non Vista release of Halo 2.

And Echo if you read the third post, you see that there's also a problem with the catroot and catroot 2 files that shows up on ATI and Nvidia systems. And I did download the driver from the Nvidia site, first and only place I went to.

But Windows 7 is something along the lines of Vista SP 1 or SP 2, So I guess I'll side with Echo. I actually don't care, I've got Halo 2, and I'll get Custom Edition, but still will want to play Star Wars Battlefront 2.

Windows 7 is essentially Vista SP 3, yes but that just adds to the stupidity of it not working randomly on certain PC's.

Well, stop that debate, now the question is weather or not I'll be able to play CE online. I downloaded Combat Evolved, with the CD-Key of 00000-00000-00000-00000-00000(that actually worked with my copy). Would anybody else be using it? Because AFAIK nobody with the same CD-Key can't play on the same server. And I'm not sure about Custom Edition at all.
