Resident Evil 4 Trailer

What Is Resident Evil 4?

The new Resident Evil 4 is a remake of the original, which debuted on GameCube in 2005. Much like the incredibly successful (and incredibly fun) remakes of RE2 and RE3, this one takes the dated core game and updates it in just about every way imaginable.

The result should be fantastic, both because the previous REmakes were excellent (see IGN’s Resident Evil 2 review and Resident Evil 3 review), and because the original RE4 is widely considered one of the best video games of all time.

Because the original still holds up today, it’s not too surprising that, in our Resident Evil 4 remake hands-on preview, we found fewer major gameplay updates and more graphical upgrades. Even so, we noticed numerous changes intended to subvert the expectations of players familiar with the original.
