Harvokz you actually spend like 5% more when building it yourself. But yes you can get something far nicer.

Not always :D

Gaming PC's you tend to save money compared to the other companies that tend to give decent gaming rigs :p

Example: My PC built was 1500$, at the time a comparable Alienware seemed to be about 1700-2000$

Edit: But noodle is right, Budget and country, and we can start the process of debating whats best

Alienware make good gaming laptops. Otherwise avoid them, and the idea that they overprice things is strange considering Dell owns them, so they would be mass producing that hardware and it would be cheaper, they do charge you extra for the fact there is a legit OS on there as well as the fact that put it all together for you, which it takes a "specialist" to do (<-- that is supposed to be funny).

But really, make it yourself, the customisation and freedom means everything.

Honestly, building a computer is almost like a really expensive version of Legos, RTFM and make sure you ground yourself out before touching anything! :p

but if we can get a budget, I can come up with a parts list to aim for :D

As many people have already stated DO NOT BUY ALIENWARE they overcharge for just about everything and charge you for retarded things (as Holiday said they charge you extra since it was sooo hard for them to put the computer together).

I wouldn't even buy their laptops (even though they aren't that bad), it's usually cheaper to build your own and buy the parts seperate. Also remember to check if you can re-use parts from your old computer ( power supply, cd/dvd/blu-ray disk drives ) theres no reason to buy a new one of those unless they are damaged or non compatible with your new hardware.

(sorry for the wall of text, it's hard to space things out when typing on my ipod :()

I actually was on that! D: just i was looking for a spec list not a selection.

Not liking the graphics they select for you, still think a better all-round gaming PC can be built.
