Mining Sandbox Adventure, Core Keeper Reveals Its First Update, The Sunken Sea - IGN Expo 2022

Core Keeper, the mining sandbox adventure game from Pugstorm and Fireshine, has revealed its first major update, The Sunken Sea – and has added dedicated server support today.

Shown off at IGN Expo, The Sunken Sea update has players navigating a brand new water-based biome, filled with aquatic threats and treasure-filled islands. The update adds boats for the first time, as well as new enemies, weapons, valuables, ores, base building items, and more.

An exclusive teaser trailer gives us a hint at what's to come, including a gigantic three-eyed turtle... thing, which fires whirlwinds. No date has been given for the update, other than that it's coming soon.

Today also sees the addition of dedicated server support for the up-to 8-player game. Players will now be able to host their own multiplayer worlds and have friends join at any time.

"Dedicated servers have been requested since the start of the game's launch into Steam Early Access," said Pugstorm CEO Sven Thole, "and we'd like to say a huge thank you to the members of our incredible community who have helped test this feature ahead of its official launch today."

IGN helped announce Core Keeper at last year's Expo. The procedural mining adventure has since garnered almost a million players, and looks set to grow further. This was just one of dozens of announcements and trailers revealed during IGN Expo 2022 - make sure to check them all out.
